We Were Bound In EgyptThis 2nd Volume of Moses was on the GMA/Dove ballot in 2005 for Best Children's Album of the Year, and three songs (On Wings of Eagles, Moses Climbed the Mountain High, and I am the Lord God Who Brought You) were in the competition for Most Inspirational Single of the Year! This album covers the second half of Moses' life starting with the forty years in the wilderness until the end of his life. Who would dream that it takes twenty-nine songs to cover the saga of crossing a wilderness? Or that so many life lessons can be learned by what happened to the Israelites! This 50+ minute CD includes topics God's leading by the pillar of cloud and fire, God's provision with water and manna, the giving of the ten commandments, and the building of the tabernacle. Other songs address character issues such as moving in coordination, learning to delegate, punctuality, and respecting leadership without murmuring. Even Moses' death is treated with dignity and honor with joyful remembering, using so many phrases directly from the Bible. Musical styles vary from Edvard Grieg's "Hall of the Mountain King (Moses Climbed the Mountain High) to Irving Berlin's Play a Simple Melody (Oh, Moses, What are you Doing?). Biblical passages are from Exodus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.Learning the Bible can be as easy as learning a song! This discovery was the motivation to begin Bible StorySongs. The "singing grannies", Paula King and Catherine Walker, put Bible verses, facts, lists, stories (anything they wanted kids to remember) to favorite familiar tunes in the public domain. Employing these popular tunes which uniquely match the feeling of the Bible stories makes many of the new songs quite easy to learn. The flow and style of the music assists in the crafting of the lyrics, often taken directly from Bible verses. This simple formula worked! The hundreds of kids they taught in summer Bible Camps quickly answer Biblical questions by singing snippets of songs, and still remember them today as adults. This time-tested positive result and the urging by many to preserve these songs and this "learning by singing" discovery prompted them to professionally record and publish these songs. Each song is introduced by kids that set the song up with an explanatory blurb. This weaving of charming kid-spoken facts and content packed songs is delightful. The compound word "StorySongs" in the company name is not a typo. The stories are in the songs! This is a delightful and effective way for even Biblically challenged ‘baby boomers' to join their children and grandchildren in learning the stories in the Bible. Time for today's working parents is at a premium. Playing Bible StorySongs CD's in the car on the way to school or soccer is a prime time to redeem! Many parents have happily reported to us that they are learning as much as their children! What a simple key to opening the pages of the Bible! Its verses and stories are easily remembered in song by kids of all ages and stages. Singing accommodates the varied learning styles and abilities of children. Singing has something for everyone. The more of senses used in learning, the better the understanding, and the longer the memory.Bible StorySongs magnificently melodious (MUSICAL), rapturously rhythmic (KINETIC), pleasantly poetic (VERBAL), magnetizingly metric (MATHEMATICAL), eruditely elevating (COGNITIVE CONTENT)! Bible StorySong Singing incorporates all senses! The Bible StorySong singers are children from the Dallas/Fort Worth area ranging from age 6 upwards to college age, who grew up singing these songs. BSS albums simply use a guitar and piano for most of the instrumentation, to encourage listeners to try singing Bible StorySongs around the piano at home!Audio samples and Sheet Music e-books are available www.biblestorysongs.com.
