To Hull & Back: Short Story Anthology 2015

Rate this book
I'm proud to present the second 'To Hull & Back' humorous short story competition anthology. It contains a collection of 26 humorous short stories from the winning, highly commended and shortlisted entrants of the 2015 contest. The book also contains a story written by each of the judges. The stories in this book are fun and quirky, written by writers with vivid imaginations. This means all the tales are highly original and entertaining to read. I predict that each will become a fable of mirth and legend in the future (after the inevitable zombie apocalypse of 2033 (yes, my middle name is Nostradamus (be very afraid...))). The authors featured in this anthology are: Adele Smith, Adena Graham, Andy Melhuish, Bernie Deehan, Christie Cluett, Christopher Fielden, Dan Brotzel, Danny Shilling, Dirk Puis, Georgina Sanjana, Ian Tucker, Jade Williams, John Emms, Jonathan Macho, Mark Rutterford, Mel Ciavucco, Mike Scott Thomson, Olivia Arroy, Patrick Tuck, Radovana Jagrikova, Scott Johnston, Sheila Corbishley, Steph Minns, Stuart Aken and Will Haynes. The anthology was first released on Hulloween 2015. The winner's copy of the book will make a journey on the Highway to Hull, strapped to a two-wheeled chariot of rampant noisiness. You can learn more about the meaning of the previous sentence and the 'To Hull & Back' competition (which currently offers the awesomest prize in the field of literature) on my website."

(I wrote the winning story and read the rest.)

The strength of the book is in its diversity, and everyone should find stories they find wonderful. Great book to pick up for short bursts of energising reading on a busy day and to discover new authors whose style or ideas you like.

Second Outing Better Than the First

I enjoyed these short stories. For me this collection was even better than the first. More stories that I enjoyed/liked and higher quality overall.

This book contains a collection of short stories (that were all entered into a writing competition).

‎All the stories had good basic ideas, but only a few really stood out:
* 'Biking to Find the Boy' - was clever, well written and had a “believable zombie character”
* 'Joe Lean' –was sadly realistic
* 'Besta' – I found this short story laugh out loud funny.

My four star rating is based on the stories above.
