Rate this book
A foolproof guide to releasing shoulder and neck tension, this book shows how imagery and touch can be used to eliminate stiffness and pain. It provides simple and effective exercises that can be done at home, at work, or on the road. Sufferers of upper body pain will learn how to detect and eradicate early signs of tension by better understanding the connection between emotional states and tension. These individuals will learn how to survive stressful situations calmly and without tensing a single muscle. An explanation of the anatomy of the shoulders provides a better understanding of how improving the alignment of the head, neck, and shoulders will ease the strain on muscles and joints and promote an aura of confidence and health.

This is a book is worth the read, but not to be read in one sitting. The book I read with the ISBN, however, wasn't 127 pages, but 108.

I would have loved this book if it came with a pop up of hands that were mechanical and would work out the kinks in neck and shoulders

Jerry! I need my massages! Can't you see I am burnt out?!

Instead they use a lot of guided imagery. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I just really wanted the pop up book idea.

First time I read this, I read it too literally and couldn't really take it seriously. In retrospect, I think imaging and imagining are powerful tools for interacting with our physicality (even where the thing being imagined doesn't correspond directly to our body structures). So I owe it a second, more charitable, reading.

Quite a few of the illustrations and visualisations were a little too esoteric for me.

Should be 3.5 stars. I enjoyed it and use it for Yoga although Franklin wrote this for dancers. Most of the visualizations did not work for me. Some did very well.
