The pages of some books are like the wrapping of a gift. This is not one of those books.

This book is more like the wrapper of the last third of a left-over sandwich that you found on a park bench and - most of the good stuff has been picked out of it by squirrels.

I mean, I'll eat it, but...

Has some very basic material on learning strategies; broadly outlined. Points for mentioning self-quizzing, however. And it covers speedreading as a means to an end, along with some other general motivational advice. Still, the means to learning are not given here. Philosophically, give something an hour a day for twenty days and you'll learn, it has those kinds of things.

But, nothing about synaptic stimulation via exercise and nutrition. Or allowing for time to forget and reinforcing knowledge, nothing about N-step training.... or caffeine, or nicotine...

It is, essentially, advice from a non-expert. I get it, it's about selling an e-book. Nicely done - I encourage the author to make more of them. Congrats on doing the thing. Just - add more value to the next one.

Useless babble

This very short book gives no helpful advice at all. The author talks about you needing to find your own learning style, but says you have to do this on your own. He doesn't even mention any different types of styles. He says you should learn to speed read but doesn't tell you how you learn to do so. Plus, the author does not seem to know what a semi-colon or period is, as his run-on sentences are atrocious. Although I purchased this book at a discount, it was not worth it. There was no helpful advice and the author just kept saying the same things over and over. I would not recommend this book.

Very nice techniques written in a concise, easy to follow format. I'm currently implementing the Speed Reading Technique as mentioned in the book and so far, it has yielded good results!
All in all, a very positive book and inspires you to pick up that long-procastinated-skill you have been wanting to learn.

If you are a habitual reader of good books then you may not find anything new in this book. Lest the ideas presented are extracted from Best Selling books:
10,000 Hours Rule in Outliers.
20 Hours Rule by Josh Kaufman.
Power Reading by Rick Ostrov.
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig.

Though that may not itself discredit the work presented by Harvey Sagler. This book is a good treatise for those who really want to excel and acquiring skill. At first glance it seems to me the academic one but once I dwell in it I find it multi-faceted. And at some places, the author is so much apologizing and at the helm of convincing the reader, that it may only require PLEASE! DO THIS FOR ME! To paraphrase the whole sentences presented anywhere in the book.
The author starts with some luring points, so the reader will definitely read the book further. The suggestion or the dilemma he presented is quite catchy and will catch the attention of those who will really want to hone their skills by reading SELF-HELP book.
He presented some humor with Einstein by saying that most people think of geniuses as someone who just happened to know all things around. But in reality that’s not the case. What makes genius distinguish is that he is the one who actually know the art of learning and ultimately flourishes better afterwards.
Reading is the evolutionary process and it takes time to achieve mastery in speed reading without compromising the comprehension. So he presented the formula to find the WORDS/MINUTE. Although he didn’t specified, but the way he presented seemed to me that the only viable way to learn is to READ a book without stretching other modes of learning. Further discussion he made is exclusively on LEARN HOW TO READ.
In subsequent step, he emphasized to stick with the text on each line, by pointing the word with a finger or a pen. The reason he presented by having a pen to point out text is to strengthen the FOCUS of individual while reading. A person can’t read effectively without focus, he said.
The book discusses other area too but instead of mulling over I apply the speed reading instantly from chapter 5 to see what I got from it. From chapter 5, the discussion becomes lame and general, quite not holding habitual reader to further mull over.
Despite all that, the book is a good introductory material on Learning for the early aspirants who really want to acquire something they really thrilled about.

Not a fan. Was not enlightened. Perhaps, I had learned these techniques elsewhere and others have not had that opportunity?

It was supershort, and didn't really get into any of the points more than a few pages, then ended with a few pages of ads for some "get rich while sleeping" plan.

3.9 really good. It's very short but has all the points you need. It is very very similar to the book 'The first 20 hours of learning by Josh'.

This is an amazing book to read. I stumbled upon it and downloaded it from a torrent website (I intend not to say it because I don't wonna market them). Anyways,

The book is a blessing.

It reflects you with that person you wonna be, but doesn't have the means to be. This book gives you that means and I have personally tried those means myself and it worked, it actually WORKED!

If I get to choose certain quotes from this book, I wouldn't suffice its core enrichment, but I will have to choose anyway to get you pumped, eh? ;)

"Gaining control of your thoughts is no exception, and you are going to find that you are able to focus a lot better, and retain a lot better than you ever thought possible."

"You have to ask yourself: How many days did you skip practice? How many times did you say you working on it for a full hour, when you really only worked on it for a few minutes?"

Splendacular (if that's even a word) read, guys. Highly recommend to anyone just got into reading a little while ago. It's language is simply easy yet powerful.

Not only is it that small in pages that makes you so pumped to read it again, but also it is that badass working techniques that will amaze non-stop. Here you go, Harvey, I will read it again oh and again!

Thank you, Harvey!

Stuff you need to hear if you haven't already

Awesome, intuitive book! The author's matter-of-fact, logic-based writing style is both informative and easy to follow without being overly preachy or condescending.

This book does not give the reader a proper way for learning, the author insists on the reader finding the good way for learning himself.
But it gives you some useful advices that may help you relax and focus on the subject you're trying to learn.
