"Mos Eisley Spaceport. You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy." With those words, Obi-Wan Kenobi introduced the most famous, not to mention dangerous, drinking establishment in the history of science fiction. Now, you can get a table of your own. Belly up to the bar and let the patrons regale you with a tale of Tatooine, a story of interstellar romance, and a saga of Rebel triumph. And please be sure to check your droids and your blaster at the door.
A collection of three short stories, all three of them quite fun to read, almost like a version of the Twilight Zone set in the Star Wars universe, totally recommended.
This is a super fun, three-story pack of a comic based around a bunch of low-life's drinking it up in a cantina on Mos Eisley.
The first story really pulled me in and I absolutely loved it. It had strong sci-fantasy vibes, with shape-shifting sirens of the deep luring in men via seduction type deal. Very gripping. Solid 4-stars for this one.
The second story was superb science fiction. The tale of a man 'lost in space' for ~71 years, with nothing but a droid companion whom which he fell in love with. Absolutely amazing. 5-stars all the way.
Sadly, the third entry was the weakest. An old timer con-artists a youngster for some drink. I'd rate this around 2-stars, even with the space-dinosaurs... wasn't feeling this one.
Overall, sticking this at 4-stars for stories #1 & #2.
The title is incidental. This collection has little to do with Star Wars. It is, however, a wonderful trilogy of stories that range from the touching and romantic to the bizarre and terrifying. This anthology evokes both the space weirdness of Lem and the space poetry of Bradbury with a touch of the Gothic for flavor. I've enjoyed it immensely and would recommend it to anyone.
