Everyone has secrets. What would it take to make you whisper yours? Louise had no interest in relationships until one night turned her whole world around. Hold me down. Kiss me hard. Bite me harder. A stranger in a strange city, she wasn’t looking to lose control. Until she did. Intensely. Irrevocably. Dangerously. She handed herself over to him. One night. His rules. No names. But he had other plans. She’s an enigma. Unfinished business. Potential. She’s what he wants. Again and again. And though the last thing he wanted to do was hurt her, it was on his agenda somewhere. Because relationships are messy and painful. It’s not all about Playing Games.

What as absolute score. When I started the story I had no idea what to expect, the synopsis had looked interesting but the author was new to me and I did no investigation. So when I immediately loved how the story opened (even the title of chapter one made me grin) and recalled (from many many years ago) the same trepidation Louise felt, I knew the story was for me. Yep, by the end of chapter one meeting Louise and her clever and caustic wit I knew I had made a smart choice. Include the uber charming Daniel Masters and I was a goner. Donna Alam gifted us with a saucy, seductive, and slightly angsty read. My idea of a perfect romance.
Before going into the story and the characters, I must say that the writing is simply wonderful! The language used is descriptive and creates just the right tone - the kinds that draws a reader in. Already head over heals in love with the feel, there wasn’t much need for a clincher but what made this read for me was the dialogue. There’s nothing better than the teasing banter between lovers as their initial word “game” was a lesson in seduction. Louise’ personality is illuminated in her interactions with her sarcastic roommate Flo and curious workmates. But Dan, Dan really draws Louise out oh her well protected shell.
I loved the way the story is plotted, starting at a point in time where the characters reflect back to what will turn into pivotal moments in their lives. I struggle with calling this anything but the “unfolding” of the story and for me, when it’s done right it’s magical. Once we get through their initial meeting, things are fun and naughty as they move forward with getting better acquainted.
What complicates Louise and Dan’s growing affection is his past. Ten years or so her senior, Dan’s family and his work becomes something they have to contend with. Louise herself is riddled by doubts in the advantages of committed relationships so it’s up to Dan to do right by Louise. Observing these two as their connection grows is where both fun and heartache lie. There were a few scary moments as Dan is tested by family, club members and Louise.
There were times that my heart ached (that lovely angst) but Playing Games simply left me feeling giddy. This is a 5 star read and comes with my must read recommendation. I loved the writing so much that I’ve purchased the Pretty series and I’m confident I will love them. Ms Alam you have a new fan!
Playing Games is a scorching hot read, by Donna Alam. This standalone is an Erotic Romantic Suspense and it really sizzles from the beginning, right through to the end. I am going to have one of those “I have a dirty little Secret” smiles on my face, for the next week. So if you are thinking about getting this book, do it- you won’t regret it, just hang on to your hat, because you are going to be in for one hell of a ride- it’s so titillatingly good. Louise (Lou) is an American, who moved to London 3 months ago- for a 12 month stay, as part of a work promotion. She is beautiful, intelligent, but a little aloof. She is not one for socializing, but her work colleagues are celebrating meeting an important deadline, and convince Louise to come along. They end up at a high end nightclub, where she drinks a little too much and literally falls into the lap of a devilishly handsome stranger, spilling a drink all over him. Her first instinct is to lick the liquor from off his neck. Daniel Masters (Dan) had been watching the stunning blonde from across the room for quite some time, captivated by her innocent appearance- so when she landed in his lap he wasn’t going to let her get away. “One Night. His Rules. No Names.” Their night was supposed to be a one night stand, a first for Louise; and there were quite a few other ‘firsts’ for Louise that night- very hot, intense and exciting firsts that she could still feel, in the delightful aches all through her body. He teaches her new ‘games’ and they both can’t wait to play some more. Memories of their erotic night were replayed in both their minds- over and over, for the better part of the next week! There is more to Dan and that nightclub, than he has let on- secrets that Lou will discover in due course. What hasn’t he told her? Can she handle the truth? Can they both stick to the rules? Will she be able to walk away in the end? Or…. …..”Subjugate. Surrender. Submit”….. I LOVED this book! I love Ms. Alam’s work; I was so impressed by it and got completely engrossed in her story. This book is a Gem, a shining jewel in her crown. It’s well written, interesting and engaging- the story flows well and has a fast pace; I devoured it in a day. Ms. Alam has imbued her story with intense sensuality and written detailed and potent sexual encounters. Dan and Lou’s chemistry was off the charts! The story contains BDSM as part of the couples sexual encounters, but Ms. Alam has manage to keep things hot, sensual and erotic- without getting too graphic or smutty. Oh, how I love a hunky dominant man, add a sexy English accent and I may lose control of my brain, speech and my limbs! Daniel is so hot I fell for his charms right away, I was jealous of Lou, I want what she got. Louise had an ice queen reputation, but underneath all that she was quite vulnerable. Fighting years of angst and denying who/what she was and what she really needed. She had been aching to relinquish her control. The support characters added even more depth to the story, gave it a bit of a twist and added drama, as well as a lot of humour. Flo was hilarious; some of the things she said just cracked me up! The story has a baddie and I won’t say who that is, because I don’t want to give away spoilers, but they really needed to be put in their place! The Book is told from a duel POV, is a standalone and ends with a HEA of sorts. But I would like to see another book/sequel/novella come out of this story because it is so good and I want more- also, because I have some unanswered questions: Did she stay in London or go back to the U.S? Was there any retaliation from the baddie? What about her work colleague knowing Lou and Dan’s secret? Did she take Dan home to meet her family, if so- what happened? Another great read from Ms. Alam! She definitely plays her ‘A’ game, each and every time!
This book was part of the book " Dark Desires: A Contemporary Romance Collection Full of Bad Boys, Bikers, Billionaires…" The anthology is quite a bargain with 22 novels for just 0,73 Euro/0,82 Dollar - at first glance. Once you start reading you’ll notice that the authors did without anybody proof reading, editor or somebody with a knowledge of grammar. There are so many mistakes in regard to sequence of tenses, difference of your and you’re, spelling errors (he went passed (meaning:past) his car), not to mention comma placement even evident for a German reader that I had to reread some passages to get the meaning. I suppose authors participate in anthologies to pull in new readers, but they should do so with a good"product" not a sloppy "here you go, that's good enough for the bargain".
Young American woman working in London falls for a “private club” owner. Predictable story with a jealous soon-to-be ex and 90% sex. The editing was awful (grammar and spelling).
This was my first time reading anything by Donna Alam and I can say with certainty that I will be checking out more of her work in the future. I would give Playing Games a strong 5 star rating. Louise, an “always in control” American living in London and concentrating much of her time on being successful at work and avoiding relationships, decides to blow off some steam with colleagues one night and let go of all of her inhibitions after drinking several tequila shots. She goes from feeling as if she had “grown her virginity back” to literally falling into the lap of sexy, sharp-dressed, and mysterious Daniel, who seems to be perfect “one night stand” material. He challenges her and provides her the opportunity to give up control for once, without exchanging names and no chance of complications and emotions being involved. A super steamy night of Daniel dominating Louise in ways she only allowed herself to be curious about ends up turning into much more, with Daniel ultimately deciding she was all he ever wanted and exactly who he had to have for much more than just one night of surrender and sexual satisfaction. “There hadn't yet been words created to describe what was between them” and the heat between Daniel and Louise could not be contained and they both couldn't stay away from each other. What started as one night, ended up being much more serious and complicated as secrets were divulged.
This is a steamy BDSM erotic romance. I liked the characters, and loved how the story unfolded. The author did a wonderful job of describing the main characters, as well as making Louise’s hilarious roommate and Daniel’s awful ex wife seem almost real. The book seems to be a stand-alone, but if I could have my wish it would be that there will be a follow-up of sorts in the future. I have unanswered questions and was left, of course, wanting much more. There were many sentences I had to highlight while reading, one which really sticks with me - “Bravery is more than a skin you don, more than an armory of leather or lace. Courage can be found in the defiant lift of your chin, or the catch in your breath." Tell me that alone doesn't leave you wanting more! Great book.
Louise is an American who moves to London on contract for a job. She lives with one of her coworkers. She has no interest in relationships. She is in London to do a job and nothing more. That all changes one night when Louise finally agrees to hang out after work with her coworkers. She has a little too much to drink that night and wakes up the next morning in the bed of a stranger. She leaves the stranger in bed before he wakes up.
The story is told in flashbacks to get the back story of what led Louise to lose her inhibitions and get in bed with a stranger. As the story unfolds, is appears that Louise's night went beyond sex. She allowed herself to be dominated. She has kept this part of herself hidden from everyone, including herself. As she recalls what happened between her and the stranger, she feels shame but at the same time, she gets that little tingle of excitement from those memories.
Dan wakes up alone in bed. Apparently the sexy stranger left while he was asleep. he has never brought anyone to is home before. He keeps an apartment at the club for a reason. But from the first time he met the stranger, he knew something was different. He can't remember a time when he was so absorbed in the whole experience. She brought to life something he thought he's never get back after the end of his marriage, when he found his wife in their bed with the next door neighbor. Dan just can't get the stranger out of his mind. One night was not enough. Just one problem...he doesn't know her name. He was intrigued that she wanted to remain anonymous. No names, just sex.
Dan is able to track her down and he just hopes that she will agree to meet with him again. He needs more of her. Thankfully she agrees and they pick up where they left off. Even though things with them are going perfectly sexually, Louise is holding back. Dan also has in own secrets. Will they be able to get past these revelations and continue the best thing that ever happened to both of them?
This was a good story. The characters were well written and the banter between Louise and Dan was highly entertaining.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily wrote an honest review. When I first started reading this book I wasn't real sure about it. I thought, oh another one of these books...but as I got more into the book I realized that it is not like those "other" books, so if you are thinking the same thing, stick with it for longer than the first few chapters. I don't write reviews that go over and give you an overview of what happens throughout the book. If you want to know more beyond what you read in the synopsis, then buy the damn book and read it! As a reader I personally don't read most reviews because I don't want to know what happens before I read it! I prefer to go into a book blind actually. So authors, I have bought MORE books reading 1 and 2 star reviews than I ever have, reading 4 and 5 star reviews. I might look at the number of reviews and the average of those reviews. So, here's what I think you all need to know. The book is very well written and definitely is full of British humor, which I am still learning about. Which is also one of the reasons this kind of book appeals to me, because I like learning things that are new and different to me. The character development is well done and I was able to connect well with the characters in the book. There is alot of "heat" and steam, with a bit of kink, in this book and most definitely humor but underneath all of that there is also a beautiful love story. If any or all of these things appeal to you, then this is a great one to read.
What happens the morning after the night before? You wake up next to a naked man with little recollection as to how you got there...What do you do? Louise gets dragged out by work mates, meets a sexy stranger in a club, waking the next day and leaving before he wakes up. Told in flashbacks we get the back story of the who's, how's and why's and when Louise's sexy stranger gets in touch with her, she's tempted to meet up again. Can a one night stand really lead to a relationship? Or will it always be about sex? I loved this book, the characters are likeable, the story is great and of course it's hot. Daniel, although he wants Louise, he's keeping secrets from her and Louise doesn't exactly like to share things about herself either. It's not all plain sailing but at the same time it's not one of those drama filled books either. I really did enjoy this book, i read it in one sitting, the banter between Louise and Daniel brought a smile to my face and i ended up loving Daniel. Highly recommend if you're looking for a light hearted, sexy romance.
A one-night stand which becomes more! I was hooked right from the start to this new standalone from this author.I liked the character's,amusing banter between both leads, other's featured, sex scenes well written. It is a fairly quick read with an Epilogue which could possibly lead to more in the future!
Louise,a 26 year old American,in London for work purposes, has no interest in a relationship-that is until her encounter with Daniel(Dan)-a man who is used to getting what he wants, the way he wants, and in doing so,brings a hidden desire, something Louise didn't think she wanted to the surface to be explored as the story develops.Add in to the mix an ex-wife,cute 6 year old son, hilarious friend/room-mate and secrets which of course come out, I did enjoy the story.
"Their eyes meet and for the briefest of moments, something recognisable was shared.Something that wasn't just about sex or dominance, misunderstandings or hurt.Like meeting one half of the other;it was like finding a safe place"
Dan, Dan, Dan,**swoon** where do I begin!! British....oh yes, I'm a Brit myself and have to admit to being happy about that, always surrounded by Brit men. Alpha....who doesn't want a man to take control and entice you to submit. Hot....self explanatory lol.
Louise makes me laugh, along with help from friend Flora. And when it comes to word games with Dan Louise plays the game well. Louise enjoyed a one night stand that certainly changed her life.
Dan has an interesting past which doesn't live too far away!!!! But what secret is Dan hiding from Louise!!!
Along with reading her Pretty series this author is fast becoming a favourite.
What could have been an interesting, sexy read, turned out to be nothing more than one big editing mess. It was, quite frankly, a waste of money. Why readers continue to put up with this, is quite beyond me!
A journey in vulnerabilities. The heroine is battling against herself while the hero recognizes himself while battling for acceptance of his circumstances. Realistic conflict well written.
This book is about discovering yourself, your wants and not worrying about what others will think of you, not worrying about judgement, getting out of your own head and just letting yourself follow your desires.
Louise finally gave herself a little freedom from her usual schedule of just working and going back to her home. She let her roommate talk her into going to a club and then found herself giving into a one night stand. So she thought...
“Her eyelids were still uncooperative as she wondered why it was so quiet this morning. Was it a long weekend?... Stretching, she drew her body out along the length of the bed, glad that the heating was on. London hadn’t quite agreed with the spring calendar as yet and her bedroom was usually cold. Back arching, she wriggled her toes to the cooler part of the sheets before stilling mid-motion at the realisation that something wasn’t right. The sheets; Egyptian cotton. Thread count in their thousands, like the ones her mother used back home. The sound of her phone on the nightstand banging against solid wood, not glass. The fact that the bedroom was warm. Eyes screwed tight, she almost groaned. She wasn’t at home and she wasn’t alone, the previous evening coming back to her, jolting her awake like a slap. The club. Laughing. Drinking. The man. And his hands.”
“Taking off her glasses, she rubbed her eyes and sighed. What was it he—her stranger—had said? There’s freedom in a little bondage. Sometimes a person needs to be tethered to feel free.”
Dan hadn't planned on being with anyone when he went to the club, but found himself unable to walk away from Louise. He ended up taking her back to his to his home, the place he kept separate from his club life. Usually when hooking up he took women to his flat above the club. They never exchanges names. There was no expectations. Just one night.
One night turned into many more nights at Dan’s home. Still holding back on personal details about one another. Just using each other's bodies to figure out their wants, desires and pleasures.
“Why didn’t she push him about his job? What he did while they were apart? She’d made no effort to get to know him, not beyond his bedroom proclivities, at any rate. Why wasn’t she interested in the stuff other women sought? He was attractive; he knew, though perhaps a little vain. Interesting. Commanding. Erudite, even; knowledge gained in the pursuit of pleasure…Why hadn’t he told her he owned a club? Two clubs, really. The one she’d been in and a one he seemed to be hiding her from. Would she forgive him a suggestion that had grown into a lie? Would they ever even get to this point? And why, why WHY hadn’t she pushed him again? Perhaps it was that she didn’t intend on hanging around. Something in Dan’s chest tightened...He had to tell her, but not right now.”
Title Playing Games Author Donna Alam 5 Stars Could not put this book down. Omg could Dan be any hotter or bad? Louise had been in London for three months from America for her work, she’s moved into her friend Floras place. Louise and her work mates are at a club when Loose spots Dan looking al gorgeous, later that evening she falls into his lap spilling her drink all over him offering to buy him another drink since he is now wearing hers. Dancing with him and after a passionate kiss she asks him if he would like to go somewhere else. Of course he does not deny her this and they end up at his home. The games begin. They spend the night playing sex games, having enjoyable sex, with Louise having to do whatever he asks her to do. Waking up the following morning to find her gone he was surprised to have a smile on his face and disappointed that she was not there. But he did question himself as to why he brought her to his home and not take her to the apartment he has at the club. This was to be nothing but casual for both of them but through all their sex games, great sex something changed in their relationship before either of them noticed the changes. The pair were spending more time together than what seems apart. Louise was really enjoying the hot kink sex, but did question herself as to if she was normal, enjoying being told what to do and being hurt during their games. Dan told her there was nothing wrong with her for enjoying what they had. Louise asks Dan to be her plus one at a work function. All hell breaks loose again for Dan and Louise when she is told Dan is the owner of a sex club. Louise is disheartened by this and stays away from Dan. Dan is not happy and missed her a lot. AS a way to pay back Dan for his deceit she talks Luke from work to take her to Dan’s club. Even though everyone is masked both Dan and Louise are very much aware of each other’s presence, Dan furious that she is at his club with Luke decides they both need to be punished. Dan starts a sex game with both of them, making them both strip and engage in sexual play and touch while being viewed by other people in the club. Louise was initially horrified by this but eventually got over being watched, Dan however was not bothered by anything at that moment. Luke was left to fix himself in the corner while Dan and Louise once again reconnected through sex games and the great need they had for each other. Yep Dan’s the man for sure.
This is the first book I have read by this author and it will not be my last. I could not put this book down it was so sexy and intriguing. I read this book in eighteen hours.
In the beginning we meet an American Louise that is spending time across seas for an awesome job. She wakes up in a stranger's bed and she has no idea how she got there. She does not even ask any questions as she runs out the door. All she remembers of that night was she went out clubbing with her friend and roommate Flo. Louise is a very smart and independent women that would never have a one night stand. She also has a lot of trouble with committing to any one. A couple of days later she is starting to have flashbacks of that crazy night with her mystery man. Little does she know he is about to change her life. In just a few days later her mystery man finds her. They finally meet and she finds out that his name is Dan. She starts to feel a connection between them but she does not want to get hurt. She also finds out she has a kinky side to her self that Dan brings out. Will she let him in or will she close the door to another good thing she can have?
Dan Master is a sexy British dominant that has a son with his crazy ex wife. He is a very family oriented man and he wants the best for his son. He loves his son so much that he lives right next door to his mother. He can not get Louise out of his head after just that one night. He knows he wants her in his bed permanently. As he is helping her explore her real self in the BDSM he realizes he is in love with her. Is she falling for him is the question he keeps asking himself. He does not want to frighten her away. She is the best thing that has happened to him and his son in a long time. He is afraid to tell her about his past so he keeps it under lock and key. Will Dan finally tell her about his past or will his past get to her first? Will his ex push him too far and ruin his happy ending or will he finally push back?
If you are looking for a seductive, sexy, and a little bit a kink this is the book for you. I loved this story. This story had family problems and some dark secrets. It also has some really sexy scenes that are hot hot. It dealt with real life to make it a perfect romance. I am now a new fan.
Louise goes out one Friday night with her roommate Flo, a few weeks after she becomes a 26 year old woman. What happens while they're at the club? What about afterwards? Be prepared that this story bounces from the night before to the day after, as they each remember the previous night and that morning. The games that they played, and how things turned out. Who is this mystery man that Louise never got the name of? We find out later it is Dan, but does she ever learn the name? Do they ever meet up again? Their word association game was fun to watch them play. Watching the sensualness of the games, her realization of her needs that he provides for, his realization of the fact that he actually took her to his home, and then her wonderment of how he got her name and phone number. She gave him neither and did not ask for his name either. What happens when suddenly one night, after talking about his soon to be ex-wife's salmon colored cat, she spies the cat in the bedroom? What happens to their budding relationship that night? What happens the next morning? Will Dan help Louise come to her senses and not let what happened the night before or that morning come between them? It was interesting watching someone learn about her needs in the BDSM community, not having realized she needed them to begin with. When Dan hesitates to tell her who and what he is, and she finds out at a work event, from her roommate, what happens? Does it ruin everything between them?

Playing Games by Donna Alam a game, set and match five-star read. This is a stand-alone book by an author who writes about exotic locations and men you aren’t married to but may wish you were. Escapism reads with heart and plenty of steam. Is one statement about her and it’s so true, she writes with heart and soul, its hot and heavy but also makes you laugh so hard. You don’t know whether you need to hold your chest from laughing so hard, your pants from getting so wet, or you heart to stop it breaking. This book does contain scenes of a sexual nature, and isn’t suitable for all readers. The location is set in London so not that exotic to me, as it’s only a couple of hundred miles from me and I go a lot, but it does make you see it in a different light. The story is set around an American named Louise who is living in a strange city, in a new job, not interested in socialising or settling down. That is until one fateful night, she goes along with some work mates for a drink after work to celebrate a job well done. Meeting a stranger in a strange city, in a club that she never would go to, too much tequila and not enough inhibitions mean a night she struggles to remember at first. One night no names, his rules, his house. Intense, Irrevocable and Hot. Only problem is he didn’t quite get the memo, they agreed one night no names, but he can’t forget her, she’s an enigma and he doesn’t want to let her go. He makes some mistakes and because relationships are messy and painful it leads to heart break, will they ever be able to forgive each other and will they ever get over the ghosts in their closets that they are both struggling with.
Playing Games by Donna Alam will erotically shake you to your core. A definate 4 out of 5 stars! This book is about discovering yourself, your wants and not worrying about what others will think of you, not worrying about judgement, getting out of your own head and just letting yourself follow your desires. What happens the morning after the night before? You wake up next to a naked man with little recollection as to how you got there... Louise an American woman working in London never bargained for Dan, she was just looking for a night of fun while out with friends from work. Dan is nothing like her usual man, he is dominant and so enticing. Can a one night stand lead to a relationship? Or will it always be about sex? Is punishment what she needs, desires? Neither Dan nor Louise are looking for love. Louise breaks her own boundaries time and again, seeking pleasure in pain. Like an addiction, Dan cannot stay away. He has a young son, a mental case of an ex-wife and a past that hinders him with shame. “The more time spent with the woman, the less space in his head there was for anything else. So, he didn’t move, just lay watching her, his ridiculous smile deepening until it fell. None of this- his thoughts, their actions- was a reality. And yet not in the realms of fantasy. By what method did a night with a no-name girl snowball into this? Craving to be near. A craving to bend her around himself. To be cradled within.” The beginning of the book hooks you right in, keeps you wondering. The characters are developed well. By the end of the book you are left breathless, wanting more of their story. I highly recommend this book.
Playing Games is a standalone novel by Donna Alarm and tells the story of Louise, an independent, strong willed, American woman working overseas for a short time, and Daniel, a sexy, club owner from London. Louise has only been in London about 3 months and finally takes her roommate up on her offer for a night out. After a few too many Tequila shots, Louise finds herself sneaking out of the house, of the sexy one night stand she met the night before. A week later she's still remembering the hot, kinky night she spent with her mystery man and wishing she hadn’t insisted on not exchanging names or information. After spending an amazing night with the beautiful woman he met at his club, Daniel takes it upon himself to track her down because one night simply wasn't enough. They spend the next few weeks playing Daniel’s sexy games, and are startled to find how fast they are falling for each other. The only problem is, Louise has chosen to leave some really important questions unasked, and Daniel has some secrets he's been unwilling to share. Will they both be able to overcome the past or will they allow it to destroy their potential future together? This is the first book I've read by Donna Alarm and I loved the chemistry she created between her characters. My only complaint is that I feel like I was left wanting more. What happened next? Did she introduce him to her family? Did she decide to stay in England or did she have to return to the states? I'd really like reading a sequel or novella to their story. Overall, I really enjoyed reading Playing Games and would definitely recommend it!
Received a copy of this book for a honest review. Reviewer for 2 girls who love books.
So right I'm just gonna point out why I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5.. I found this book a little to short for my liking and felt it could be more.. But also the first couple of chapters where a little confusing and that I had to back track so I could understand and follow the book.. was a little bit like a ping pong table but slowly it started to make sense and become such a brilliant book.
so the story follows Louise ad Daniel. Louise doesn't know what she wants or needs and that she doesn't want a relationship. On a night out she gets completely Trollied and wakes up next to Dan.. the super hot sexy and dominant DILF... (sorry).. Dan likes to play games and he hates to loose.. so all bets are on but who's gonna win and what...
Louise begins her submissiveness with her master... which turns into so much more.. This book is steamy hot.. with mega bdsm which will leave you so hot and sweaty. I loved the way the characters are so humorous and funny with other and that they banter like read couples. I loved how the book took you on different twists and turns both from Dan and Louise.. and the secrets they both keep..
there is one scene in this book which was a omg omg omg omg.. panting type.. that was frigging hot as hell.
so if you want a hot sexy and steamy quick read here it is.. you will not be disappointed. This is the first read I have read by Donna Alam and hope that there could be a little more in the future from Dan and Louise.

Playing Games by Donna Alam is a standalone novel. Ms. Alam is still a pretty new author for me but she truly blew me away with this book. This story follows Louise and Daniel and their journey of self discovery, secrets, and most importantly love.
Louise has moved overseas to London for her job. She's not into relationships and keeps it simple. Just after celebrating her 26th birthday, she decides to go out with her coworkers and live a little. When one night out turns into a one night stand, Louise freaks out and hightails it out of the strangers home. Not knowing his name she figures she can forget about him and move on-little did she know he’d be coming for her to take her on a ride of a lifetime...
Daniel is a sexy, dominant, who likes things to go his way. With a crazy ex wife, he keeps his sexcapades limited to the club and his private life private. That all changes when he meets a woman, has a great night, but he wakes up alone. He won't let not knowing her name stop him from finding her. After finally tracking her down and they start playing his games, he starts to develop feelings for her. The problem is he has secrets that he's not willing to share. What happens when Louise uncovers them? Will they be able to get past it?
Wow!!! I was not expecting to like this book as much as I did. It did take me a few chapters to really get into it-but I am so glad I kept reading! The character development was amazing and you really saw how they grew and found themselves. I loved the storyline and I am so excited to see what's next for Ms. Alam!
Reviewed on behalf of 2 girls who love books blog Playing games by Donna Alam I loved this story it has a really comedy side to it as well as being hot, sexy, charming and everything else in between. We see a young woman (Louise) wake up after a night out not realising where she is or what she did but next to her lies a hunk of a man named Dan. Turns out that Dan is a super-hot dominant who likes playing games and doesn’t like to lose, Louise is daring to learn about her submissive side and who better to learn with than Master Dan! At first it was a one night stand but it quickly escalates into something more but of course this is a story and nothing is ever that simple. Follow Louise and Dan through the journey they take with a lot of BDSM and hot sex along the way along with a few mountains they have to climb. I found the starting few chapters slightly confusing as we were going back and forth but stick with it all will make sense and I’m glad to say this doesn’t carry on throughout the entire duration of the book. It is a great book that has different emotions running through you but will not leave you disappointed by the end. Louise’s character is totally relatable to she isn’t the instant submissive and is cheeky with it and always tries to push her luck which I LOVED. Dan is the ultimate master he has his dark side and is very protective of what belong to him. If BDSM books are your thing then you have to add this book to your list. I rate this story 4 stars
Wow. Such a great book. Louise was an American girl who is now living in London working there. She decides to go out to a bar with her roommate and after a lot of tequila ends up going home with a British guy and doesn’t remember that part when she wakes up the next morning and finds things are different until she opens her eyes and realizes what she has done. This book is full of life. Dan is a guy who knows what he wants and likes to play games. Dan has many secrets that he doesn’t tell Louise at first and she is finding them out one by one. The books has BDSM in it which I enjoy reading about I love to find out new things that I did not know. Louise thinks of herself as a nice girl and does not normally go out and pick up strange men. The people at the office where she works wonder about her, they think she is tough and that she doesn’t date men. Dan has some things in his life that he is trying to get rid of and is just not quite there yet. He has experienced things he is not happy about and is trying to do better for himself. Louise has not shared very much of her life with her roommate, she tries to keep to herself and do her job because that is the reason she moved so far away in the first place. This is a good book and I don’t want to give much information about it away so go read it and you will like it.
How do you know who you are or what you want? Do you know what games you are willing to play? If you have ever wondered what you are capable of, then this book may just help you figure it out. Be warned though, this is not for the faint of heart. This is fast paced and one of the hottest books I have read. This will give you fond memories of Mr. Grey and his antics. Louisa is living abroad, trying to get from her father’s controlling ways. She decides that a night out on the town is just wants she needs, and boy does she enjoy it. She winds up meeting Dan, who after what she thought was a one night stand, opens her eyes to a world that she only read about. Is she ready for his world? Will she ever discover who is he besides the persona he puts out to the world. This book was full of surprises for me. I was shocked at the depth of the characters, in my experience the chemistry takes precedence but this was a love story as well, it was just a kinky one. So, with all I was pleasantly surprised as I found myself enthralled with these two and going between wanting to punch Dan to rooting for him. As an adult, I have always been interested in this kind of story, I wouldn’t have the guts to actually do it, so I get to live vicariously through these characters. I look forward to delving a little farther next time.
Playing Games By Donna Alam ☆☆☆☆ This book is a standalone.
Because relationships are messy and painful.
Louise is not interested in relationships. Her coworkers think is is gay or dominant. Very strong willed young lady. Does not play games of the heart. Hold me down. Kiss me hard. Bite me harder. Daniel is dealing with a divorce, has one son, and the ex lives next door. He is also the owner of an exclusive club. Keeps parts of his life secret, his job, his son, his ex. Until the truth has to come out. Yet fear of losing his love keeps his lips sealed. One night. His rules. No names. Donna Alam has expressed all the feelings in her book. There is anger, love, joy and the ability to understand, what is not understood. Louise has always felt something was wrong with her. She knows what she likes, but it feels wrong, yet oh so right. Until she meets Daniel. On a one night stand. No names, no ties, no relationships. But nothing is that simple. Daniel must meet up again and goes in search, of the beautiful lady, he met the night before. For two people who did not want to be involved in a relationship. This story sure takes a turn for the worse, or is that the better. Sometimes it is good to find the true You. This book is well written, easy to follow. With twist and turns all along the way. I really enjoyed this story. Well done Donna Alam!
If you are looking for that one Alpha male who is going to make you swoon time and time again, you have reached your final destination. Nothing like Mr. Daniel Masters. Can I say once again, he’s british. In my head the entire time I was reading I was just imagining him speaking to me. I swooned from the beginning to the end.
Louise of course is the kind of person who makes you laugh the entire book. Her best friend Flora of course, helping her through the whole story makes you break out in laughter as well.
The amazing part about this it is about one night stands. What happens at a club when you go out with your best friend and what happens when you are introduced to a world you never really thought about before? That you only thought were for other people?
Will Louise give into the hot Mr. Masters or will she fight the urge to submit to him.
I will admit that even though at the beginning it was hard to get into. I was not disappointed after I got further in. Sure some people if they read the first chapter or two and can’t get past it they stop. You will not be disappointed if you keep with this book. It is completely and utterly worth it.
Playing Games by Donna Alam is exactly what the title suggests, a whole book of game playing. In this book Louise, goes out one night to celebrate with co-workers and ends up going home with dark, hot, alpha man. She is not used to the feelings that Daniel unlocks in her and is unsure if it is wrong to feel this way. Dan is a closed off man just trying to distract himself with faceless women. His ex wife did a real number on him and refuses to open himself up like that again. When he meets the unsure Louise, he plans on it being for one night only but something about her makes him want to know more, to bad she is stuck on it being just for fun. He is determined to break down her walls but is hesitant to tell her his secrets thinking it will cause her to run. When all of the secrets start pouring out, will he be able to save their relationship? I thought this was a pretty good book. I wish I could have connected to the characters more but I liked the idea of the story and how it turned out. The book was “choppy “ to read, I felt like it didn’t have a smooth transition from one scene to the next but it wasn’t’ hard to follow. It was definitely hot and super kinky, worth the read and I would definitely recommend the book to friends.
Hot, British, alpha....automatic one-click right? I had a hard time getting into the beginning of this. It was a little confusing and you had to keep double checking who was talking because it wasn't designated before hand. I can usually immerse myself in the book without any issue, but I had trouble with this one. Now to the blurb. Reading it, you would think along the lines of 50 shades with a little mystery thrown in right? There isn't as much graphic kink as the blurb implies.
Louise is in London for work and ends up have a "supposed to be" one-night stand with Dan. Dan runs a club and they run into each other while Louise is out celebrating with work colleagues. They end up meeting again and embark on a pseudo dom/sub relationship but not a traditional one. Louise is too dominant in her own right to be a sub. Through it all, secrets on both ends are revealed and it should break them, but does it? All in all not a bad read, just a little confusing in parts and the beginning made it hard for me to really immerse myself in it.
