When I heard Discovering Alex was going to be released I was so excited and couldn't wait to read it! It did not disappoint.
The main character, Alex, draws you in right away and I really managed to connect and identify with her throughout, and she had me in tears before I was even half way through.
Tom, now what can I say about Tom? He is just dreamy and I fell in love with him. He is my current favourite book boyfriend; if anybody doesn't fall in love with them, then there must be something wrong with you! ;)
All in all Discovering Alex is a journey of emotions; happiness, sadness, joy, torment, and is bound to have you crying at one point or another - because it is just a wonderful book of a beautiful, exciting, erotic love story and a definite must read.

Well for a debut novelist to reduce me tears while sunbathing in Italy.... Bravo, I did get some funny looks though lol.
This book pulled on my emotions, one minute I'm thinking go for it, then I'm the opposite, how could you..... It mixes in sadness, grief, sexy and happiness into one delightful read.
Alex, she was one mixed up woman, in her place you wouldn't know how you'd feel either......
Tom enters Alex's life at a difficult time, she's not really ready.....his not going anywhere though - did I mention his hot and rich.
I loved Tom and Alex's relationship, all it's ups and downs, in and out of bedroom!
I highly recommend you pick up this book.

I loved this book. I had no idea where it was going to lead after the first chapter. I thought maybe Matt was an ass and Tom was going to save Alex. Nope,I was wrong. lol It's a very emotional & wonderful read. I cried, I laughed and I screamed. There where time I wanted to shake Alex. I loved the characters they are all amazing. It's a beautiful story of love, loss and starting over. It's very well written. I look forward to reading more of Sam McCarthy books :)

Won't give anything away, this is a fab book. There are number of delicate scenes which were written beautifully and brought a tear to my eye.

I have to say going into this story I felt Alex was disloyal but you never know what you'd do unless you find yourself in the same situation. Pray that never happens. Finding out what Alex was actually going through will break your heart and build the connection you look for when reading. This book had me ugly crying and happy crying. If you're looking for an emotional read this is for you. Or even if you want a second chance at love book.
Cassie comes off a little b!+chy at the beginning but really started liking her the farther I read. She really wants what's best for Alex. James is a very interesting character I'd love to find out more about. And dear sweet Tom, always there and being so patient when it's against his nature. He's one hot alpha who knows how to give Alex exactly what she wants and needs! Alex is an emotional wreak, who wouldn't be? She battles her feelings but she may just discover who she really is and what she wants along the way... Great book Sam looking forward to the next!

I was gifted this by the author for an honest review... and not a bad start for a debut by Sam McCarthy.
We are introduced to Alex (female) out with her friend for a much needed night out.
"I was staring at my shoes, wondering how on earth I had ever been convinced to wear such sexy heels, when i was snapped out of my trance by Cassie saying "Come on, lets go and have some FUN"!
and the following sentences after that leads us to believe something totally different about Alex and her night out.
She meets a handsome stranger..and this is where Discovering Alex begins.
This one had me a little teary, and you will find out why in the book.
The only thing that i disliked about this book, was the rushed "love" between Alex and Tom (her handsome stranger) it was to fast, and i would have love to see their friendship and love grow more in this book, cause it felt a bit cheesy at times. But other than that, it was a good read and a good start for this debut author.

I was very lucky to be given an ARC of this book.
This book was amazing. I read it within a day as I just couldn't put it down.
The start of this book will break your heart, so make sure you have tissues as you will cry, but as you read more it slowly mends it back together.
"On a night out with her best friend cassie, Alex meets a prince charming who sets her body Alight with desire
But guilt has Alex running away.
Prince charming won't give up though, and Alex soon finds herself on a road of discovering who she is.
Will she like who she is at the end?
Can prince charming help her along the way?"
5stars for this story. I loved it such a heartbreaking, emotional rollercoaster, and heartwarming story.

great hot read!
I will start by saying the blurb for this book immediately peaked my interest! I was completely sucked in the moment I started reading.
We meet Alex and Tom, two people that are immediately attracted to each other and have very strong chemistry between them. But Alex is in a difficult situation that makes the whole situation complicated!
I will say I was rooting for Tom and Alex the whole time, but I will say the one thing I had a hard time with in this book was the insta-love affect. I enjoy more of a build up.
I really enjoyed this book. It had great characters, an amazing and heartfelt story behind it, some amazing hot scenes, and also some much needed drama!! I would definitely recommend this book to everyone interested in this genre of reading. I am excited to check out more from this author!!

Going into this I wasn't sure what to expect... I mean, have you see the cover? Hello, those shoes!
What you get in this book is an emotional, sucks-you-in read, with a whole load of steam thrown in, in the way of Tom Ward. Tom's character was refreshing, he was all alpha without being a total @#%!
I don't want to give anything away... but if you like a touching story with a dash of drama, a healthy measure of sex, and ample covering of love, this one is for you.
Great debut... a solid 4.5 stars!

A really simple, heartwarming and romantic read. Sam's debut is a winner, she threw in lots of omg moments, places where I had to hold my breath, and times when I had a tear in my eye. I am so happy I got to read this book, and I thank the author for giving us a great story involving Alex, Tom, matt, Cassie and James.
I hope to heaven that there will be a spin off involving Cassie and James.... Please, please, please!!

I was lucky enough to get my hands on an advanced beta copy and wow, what can I say a brilliant read that had me hooked from the first few pages, a book that you think you know what is going to happen and then just the opposite occurs, the characters of this book will stay with you long after you have turned the last page. 5 out of 5. I'm looking forward to the next Sam McCarthy novel already.

Wow! This is my first read from the Author, and I wasn't disappointed.
I actually feel like I've gone on a journey with this story. I laughed. cried, just one huge roller coaster of emotions.
Amazingly written, which pulls you into the story and lets you live it.
Alex - my type of girl, and her and Tom together... *insert smiley face*
