This is "I Can Read" book for beginning readers. It was too simple for my 6-year-old.
Excerpt from the book: "'It's Apple Day!' said Mrs Barnes. 'Today we well our apples in town. Everyone will help.' 'We need apples. We need pies. We need lots of apple butter.' said Mrs Barnes. Charlie picked the apples. Mrs Barnes made the pies. Dumpy wished he could help."
This is very basic but maybe clarifying that Dumpy is a Dump Truck is necessary? I haven't read the entire oeuvre of Dumpy to know where this falls in the Dumpy mythology.
It was Apple Day for the Barnes family, so they cooked apples and also packed apples - all to sell. Dumpy wanted to help, and he soon found a way to help the family.
