Ah, W.I.T.C.H. So much of my childhood was spend obsessing over the series. The books. The comics. The cartoon. The merchandise. You name it I was into it.

So why only the three stars if I loved it so much?

Well as time went by, I grew disinterested in the series. I went along with it mainly to see how it ended. I simply wanted to know what the final outcome was.

Surely that is not enough to merit three stars? You loved it!

I did, but that was because I was a pre-teen with very low expectations. This came before my vampire-loving period, so you can imagine what my standard was like. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not bad books – they’re simply not something I can go back to now that I’m older.

Thoroughly enjoyable at the time, but not quite so much now.

This was a brilliant conclusion to this mini arc, the girls finally work together and regain their powers. Will is no longer moving and her relationship with her mother is improving. Cornelia was able to bring Caleb back and also get back together with her friends. She is separated from Caleb, but she is relieved to know that he is alive at least and now in Candacar trying to find Luba for what she has done by helping the Altermere to form. The girls prove them selves to the council and the Oracle. They gained their powers back and prove that they are good Guardians. This was a fantastic re-read and very enjoyable.

Nesmím zapomenout ani na Elyon, i když udělala pár nesprávných rozhodnutí, samozřejmě i další důležité postavy : Věštce, Caleba, Joela, Orube, Cedrika, Matta, Luka, Erica, babičku Hay Lin....
Rozhodně to byla má nejoblíbenější dětská série, at už komixy nebo seriál. Doporučuji všem mladším slečnám. ;)

Brilliant 15th instalment in the chapter book series. Friendship certainly takes priority in this chapter. Suspense all the way through.

The Courage To Choose

In The Courage to Choice WITCH (again) are at odds with one another. Will's mom breaks the news that they might be moving and they all take it upon themselves to try to stop this by breaking into the office and destroying the letter of resignation (umm like this would have stopped her from moving). Instead, they get sloppy and unleash a force of all their combined powers but one. That power being the Earth power, which isn't there because it has been disconnected from WITCH caused by Cornelia's grief over the transformation of her love Caleb in their defeat of Phoebus (by Phoebus) into his old form (a Murmur). Which is a weed type creature and one of Phoebus's guards. As the force seeks to reconnect and unite with its missing link, in turn, causing a surge of all WITCH's power to Cornelia, there's also discord in Candracar. One of the council is out to do everything in her power to prove that WITCH aren't capable to have these powers and replace them with new Guardians. Cornelia and the Councilor face off on Earth as WITCH struggle to connect again to their MIA powers and the Heart of Candracar. They regain them in the nick of time after Cornelia is overtaken and the Councilor transports her back to Candracar to stand trial for resurrecting one of their most sworn enemies.

MY THOUGHTS: WOW! Absolutely beautiful and so strong a story! Cornelia has never been my favorite WITCH but in this book, she outshone all the rest! How bad ass was she when she went up against Luba? Showing us that when it comes to the people we love we don't play! Cornelia took Luba OUT! The only thing I was kind of disappointed by was that Cornelia was given all of WITCH's power and other than bringing Caleb back its skimmed over. I thought it would at least be used (even unknowingly) against Luba. But then what happened with the whole mixing of the powers and what was created amazingly isn't even explained to her or the rest of WITCH. I don't even think it's explained at the trial. So that felt disconnected to me. WITCH comes all the way to Candracar and find themselves in the middle of a trial with a pyscho path trying to take their powers and for what? To get a 10-minute unclear victory of an unknown matter and then get sent home? And then I didn't get Luba. AT ALL! I kept waiting and waiting and waiting for her to try to take the powers for herself and say she should be the true Guardian. She goes through a hell of a lot just to .. Put someone else in power? Now I will say that in the books I've read I kind of see where Luba is coming from. WITCH sometimes in these books how their written can come off very out of sync. And they easily fall into distrust for one another to have worked together so long. I often think COME ON! Maybe it's trying to show they're teenagers. One minute they're tight. One minute they're at each other's throats. But Luba seriously needed to go somewhere and take a chill pill or a XANAX. What made The Courage to Choose was what was at the heart and core of the book. The message and the power of not giving up on someone you love when the situation looks dire. Sticking by their side. Believing. Doing everything in your power to bring them back and fighting as hard as you can for them and what you have. Even going to the lengths that you'll put your own self in harm's way just demonstrates how amazing love can be. If you find someone that brings out that kind of passion, well it can be INTENSE!! And not just romantic love because equally as intense was when WITCH discover that they're magic isn't just about them. It's their friendship together as a whole that wakens their magic.

RATING: 8 I LOVED the message in this! Love in all relationships is the strongest magic you will ever find!

I used to like these series. Now, I don't think they're so good anymore. I got up to number 12 or something like that, and they've gone up to #26 or something... and they're still coming out!! I'm not really interested into them anymore, but I used to be.

I loved this series! All of the different girls had their own individual personalities that made the series more enjoyable to read. Also, of course the cool magical powers was a plus. I loved the character relationships and adventures the girls got themselves into.

I liked this edition a lot more than the other two books. Despite this being book fifteen, the story was easy to follow and I didn't feel confused at all. The action was well written, I enjoyed reading about the girl's struggle with their loss of magic and Luba was a great villain. Not too shabby.
