Paul Grescoe has contributed to most of the major Canadian magazines and has also written books, including detective novels and The Merchants of Venus, about the Harlequin publishing empire.
Paul Grescoe has been chronicling Western Canadian entrepreneurs for decades--from the legendary Vancouver billionaire Jim Pattison ("Jimmy") to the Winnipeg couple who founded the Harlequin romance empire ("The Merchants of Venus"). With his wife, Audrey, he is also a compiler of three recent volumes of private correspondence that illuminate Canadian history. They live on Bowen Island, near Vancouver, B.C.
As as I know, the author only wrote one other book in the series which I don't think I've read or seen in used book sales, so I doubt I'll read the next one. Grescoe passed away earlier this year.
Got better as it went along. Some of it is dated (1991 attitudes and knowledge of the transgender community), however I could tell the author was trying hard to write a compelling mystery regarding transgender people and while commendable, perhaps a little misguided.
I think I first read this book when I was high school, but I don't remember other than I recognized the book jacket when I saw it on a used bookstore shelf and that prompted me to pick it up.
"I saw him begin to fall, silently, into a forever where his imperfect flesh could never be wounded again."
First, it's a good book although i'm right guessing who real killer is. Second, i love that this story is about transsexuals. The author also gave me a very detailed information about how the surgeons do it and how the operation works. Lastly, i hate Bobby Flynn, the main root of everything. Ofcourse i hate the killer but if she didn't do it, then probably everything is okay. yeah.
