Jaclyn is an Idaho farm girl who grew up loving to read. She developed a love for writing as a senior in high school, when her dad jokingly said she was the next Dr. Seuss (not even close, but very sweet). She met her husband, Steve, at BYU, and they have six happy, crazy children who encourage her to keep writing. After owning a bookstore and running away to have adventures in Australia, they settled back down in their home in Utah. Jaclyn now spends her days herding her kids to various activities and trying to remember what she was supposed to do next. She has published six books in a year, and her mind is still reeling from the awesomeness. Her books include Ring of Truth; A Christmas Worth Billions; The Princess and the Prom Queen; Magicians of the Deep; the Luck series--Stolen Luck, Twist of Luck, Best of Luck, More Than Just Luck, No Such Luck, and Just My Luck, a novella; and Endless.
I like the idea of this book. A couple who barely know each other, say they are dating to get their parents to leave them alone about dating. A ring from a commercial makes one set of parents think there is an engagement, and the couple goes along with it.
The characters have great chemistry, and that is one thing that I liked about the book. They both have a strong work ethic and are devoted to the things that are important to them.
For me the writing fell a little flat. I had a hard time getting into the book and enjoying the story. The book is also an insta-love story. I do believe that people can fall in love quickly, but there wasn't a lot of time for the characters to develop their relationship.
(3.5 Stars) Erin is a busy woman, making her way in New York City as an ad executive. Jake is trying to break through into the acting scene and a job on a commercial leads Erin's mother to believe they're engaged. A plan is hatched to let their parents think that, to keep them off their backs about their non-existent relationships. The premise of this story is very promising and I like stories built on a fake relationships, especially when the relationship of convenience brings out the chemistry and true feelings of the characters.
As an avid reader of clean romance, I love to watch the full development of the story and I love it when all the pieces pull together to present a sigh-worthy book. The elements are all there in this one--a fun first-meet, great chemistry, uncomfortable situations, a suspenseful climax--but the presentation is a little flat. I wanted more of their feelings, more connection, and more relationship development, as this is an insta-love.
Erin and Jake are great characters and the bonds they each have with their families is endearing. The setting is enjoyable, but also a tad unrealistic, as they are living in the middle of NYC and everyone (parents, friends, etc) drives their cars around. Maybe people really do, but everyone I know just takes the subway/cab/bus/walks.
Overall, this is a fun, quick read and those who love a clean, contemporary romance will enjoy it.
Okay, honestly, this book was ridiculous. There were no motivations for any of the crazy stuff they did. (Why did they pretend to be engaged instead of just pretending to be dating? Why would they let their parents start to make wedding plans when they've only known each other for 48 hours? Why are they both acting like they can't imagine life without the other when they were living life without the other a mere three days ago? Why are they acting like they'll never see each other again when their fake engagement is over when there is literally no reason they can't start dating for real? Why IN THE WORLD do they GET ENGAGED at the end of this book when they've only known each other a grand total of like two weeks?!?!?)
AND YET while I would normally rant about a book this nonsensical and give it zero stars, there was something innately adorable about this whole story, so while I was moderately annoyed by the complete ridiculousness of the whole thing, I still liked it. It was just a weirdly wholesome and fun little book, which made it enjoyable even when I was rolling my eyes at it.
I crack up at fake engagements and this was no different! I love how they run with the fake engagement and it's huge! I especially love how quickly it changes from fake to real and how a misunderstanding really takes them for a ride! Who would have thought that two Georgians would meet each other in New York City! I would really love to see what happens next!
I thought the premise of this book sounded like a winner; unfortunately as I read on, the dialogue and flow was a little off. There is a part where what is being said is mixed up. (Scene where Jake and Erin are at dinner with their parents and its Erin speaking but what she says is actually Jake speaking and directed at his mother, since we know she wasn't the one who dates Melody. ;)) Otherwise it was a sweet little story; not always believable, but still a "nice getaway" read.

A clean romance of two different people but both with the same kind of parents who want their children to get married and settle down. Fate brought them together and the ups and downs in their relationship will carry you through to the end of the story. Wonderful characters who are real to life without inappropriate scenes or language. A wonderful romance for any age.
Silver Script Series: Silver Script Set Books 1 – 7: Interesting. Heartwarming. Fun to read. Perfect with a cuppa. All the stories involve employees of the Silver Script, an advertising agency, with a gamut of friends and clients. The TOC needs editing: book titles are missing, but the links work correctly.
Ring of Truth #1 – I love this book! Ms. Hardy always writes a heartwarming story that keeps the reader captivated. There’s a romance in the works, suspense and plenty of humor. An innocent romance without the Hollywood life garbage that’s forced on us daily. The characters are lovable, with plenty of personality. The well thought out story line is interesting and there’s no stupidity formula common in books of this genre. Perfect for a relaxing time with a cuppa. 5*
A Christmas Worth Billions #2 - Heartwarming. A wonderful story about extremes appearance wise but with the same heart and values on the inside. Not all the characters were great, but I enjoyed this little jewel. 5*
Fashioned for Love #3 - Starts with New Year's Eve and it's Debra's turn to find romance. Sad with some of the events, but heartwarming just the same. One of my favorites in this series, but I didn't care that the feminism is too strong. It's a business dinner, not a date and she's mad because he pays, business, duh. This is after he held the door and her chair for her. Then women wonder why men have no respect for them anymore; but "modern" women don't have respect for themselves, anyway. It was hard to put down, but luckily, the story was fast paced. 5*
Change in Harmony #4 - I had a problem with this story. There was too much drama from the main female character and the story became, for me, difficult to get through. But the story ended well for all involved. Worth reading. 4*
Another Chance for Love #5 - Another fun to read, heartwarming story. The story just flowed through the pages and the characters were likable, lovable and interesting. 5*
Love in Return #6 - What a dear story. Heartwarming and fun to read, this story just flew by. The characters were sweet, funny and very lovable. Another one of my favorites in this series. 5*
Waves of Hope #7 - Interesting quick but long distance romance. There's anxiety that has the main female character easily broken down, but the main character, once he understands, is very supportive and loving. Heartwarming story. 5* Silver Script Series end.
I enjoyed this cute romance. Jake is a cowboy aspiring to be an actor, broke, in arrears with his rent when he takes a part-time job at the pound. Her cat escapes when the cleaner leaves her door open. She finds it at the pound, has to pay a hefty fine, but meets the good-looking blue eyed man. Things move very fast from there since both of them have parents arriving woth expectations of finding their adult children involved in romances. To stop their parents pestering them, they agree to partner each other. It gets way out of hand with their respective parents going overboard arranging the wedding. At the same time there is chemistry between the young couple which shows quite clearly in ads they do together for a jewelry store. It all blows up but I will leave readers to discover it for themselves. A very enjoyable read.
This is a very sweet story with likable protagonists. It kept me reading eagerly all the way to the end. I thought it was a little over the top that Erin's mother kicked Jake out when she did as it was clear that he cared & had expended a lot of money and effort to get there. And I was disappointed that Erin didn't do much about it. It didn't make sense that she was so passive about Jake even after she returned home.
Thankfully these were minor annoyances that didn't significantly detract from the story. Overall it was a very good story & I'm looking forward to reading more of Jaclyn Hardy's work.
I really liked that this wasn't a friends-to-lovers or enemies-to-lovers but a good old fashioned boy meets girl and the two fall in love. Jake and Erin meet at the pound where Jake is working and Erin goes to get her cat back. After a few chance meetings they end up working together on a jewelry ad that Erin is putting together for the ad agency she works for. They end up getting themselves into a little predicament that they have to figure out how to fix. The only thing that bugged me was the grammar errors.

This story starts with two people who tell their parents that they have a date for a wedding that the parents are both coming to NYC to attend and then their trials to find a real date. The story was more fun than I expected and maybe even a little more quickly paced than I prefer in a romance, but it still fit very well.
The premise is a familiar one - boy meets girl, there's an immediate attraction which they use to create a fake fiance scenario for the parents. Jake and Erin are the couple. There is little character development, and the scenes and dialogue are written in a stilted manner. The author shows promise. Hopefully future stories will be more engaging.
A quick, easy, light read about a couple who meet by chance and keep bumping into each other. Due to a series of events her parents believe they are engaged and it quickly snowballs almost out of control. A few bumps and upsets later and a happy ending for all.
She is an ad executive. He's an actor working part time at animal shelter. That is where they met when her cleaning lady let her cat out again. She helps him one commercial, but end up do her commercials together. What starts as a lost cat, could end up in love.
Erin was so powerful professionally but when it came to her emotions, no where near as confident! Her pseudo engagement to Jake brings them closer. But, they ended up hurting their mothers. But a neat HEA for them.
What's ment to be will be. Cute story about how everything somehow manages to fall into place, a chance meeting / an almost instant chemistry / finding exactly the right dress, food, furnishings, etc. And of course, the happily ever after ending.
I enjoyed this book. It kept me ENGAGED until the end. The characters seemed well developed and the story moved along. I thought they should have grown a backbone with the moms but I guess there are people out there like that. I am looking forward to reading book 2.
Romance, clean, mild Christian elements. This was more of a 3.5 for me. I loved the New York setting, and the chemistry between the two main characters. The writing was a little simple, but it definitely had some cute moments. The premise was a little far fetched, I can't really see someone pretending to be engaged to their parents on a whim. They did have some cute date moments, and of course, Erin and Jake are both hometown characters living in the 'big' city. Erin has fully embraced it, Jake is still struggling with employment (the actor thing!). The stars combine and they meet over food. A bit contrived, but still a cute, fun read. I always like genuine, honest characters (while they did tell their parents fibs, I still felt they were honest with each other), with some definite attraction. Every day lives, and every day moments that had sparkle and some fun moments.
3/18/19- I had forgotten I had read this one starting the Silver Script series and really enjoyed it again the second time around.
9/20/16-Now, that was really cute. I love marriage of convenience books, although this was an engagement of convenience. Really cute, I loved Erin & Jake. I thought Erin's mom went a little overboard after finding out it was a ruse...it takes two to tango. Overall great clean fun.
This is the first book in the Silver Script Series. I enjoyed this light fun story. What started out as a simple white lie quickly spiraled out of control. Soon Erin and Jake found themselves caught in a web of deceit. My favorite part was the chemistry and sparks between the main characters. This is a good start to the series and I look forward to continuing to the next book.
From the beginning until the end of this book was amazing and a hookup. I thought I was going to read it for a few days, but I ended up reading it page to page within a day.
Erin and Jake both have moms that want them married, and having her mom mistake them for a couple works well for both of them... until real feelings develop.
I love the way the story played out. There were a couple of unexpected twists, but even the predicable stuff was fun to read.
Cute premise--fake engagement--but of course, one lie just spirals out of control, particularly when lying to parentals who just don't let it drop. Nice story with nice characters.
I found it an okay book. It was interesting in the beginning ,but as the book progressed i found it to become very unrealistic which kinda killed it for me.
