Chosen: Part One

Rate this book
My name is Grace Delaney. I was born into this country’s most admired political family. When I was sixteen, the media dubbed me “America’s Princess”. I hate being called that, all the more so since I discovered the terrifying secret hidden behind my family’s glittering public image.
A few months ago, I graduated from college determined to make a life of my own. But now, suddenly, Adam Falzon is in it. The head of an old-world family with a reputation for ruthlessness, he looks like a fallen angel. As attracted as I am to him, I’ve come to suspect that Adam is hiding secrets of his own more deadly and dangerous than I ever want to know. I don’t dare give into my feelings for him.

But I may not have a choice. With every beat of my heart, he is drawing me further into a web of dark desire. My chances of escaping are slipping away. Worse yet, I’m no longer sure that I want to.

CHOSEN is a story of dark romance. It contains scenes of coercion, both emotional and physical, and should not be read by anyone who could find that distressing.

The first in a series, this serial is an incredibly quick read at around 100 pages. This is a great choice if you're looking for an engaging read that you can finish in a single sitting. It kept my attention from start to finish. I read it straight through in about an hour.

That being said, it is the first of several in the series and this short work will leave you hanging. It is less of a story in and of its own, and more of an introduction to a larger story. You will have more questions than answers at the end of this serial, compelling you to read the next installment.

The story centers on Grace, a rich socialite accustomed to being in the spotlight thanks to her high-profile political family. Following the death of her cousin, Grace came to realize that her family is more dangerous than she'd ever imagined. They've ruthlessly climbed their way to the top and she wants to extract herself from their grasp. Unfortunately, they control her trust fund.

Forced to jump through hoops to please her overbearing grandmother, Grace finds herself attending a charity ball with a friend of her brother's. While there, she meets the enigmatic businessman, Adam Falzon. Despite the palpable attraction between the two, Grace is not interested in any type of relationship at the present time and turns him down.

Regardless of her wishes, Adam has no intention of backing down. He easily incorporates himself into her life, using her power-hungry family to gain access to her. Despite his charming facade, it quickly becomes clear that he has more malicious plans for Grace than what he's letting on.

As expected, the serial ends with a huge cliffhanger. Although this series promises to be a "dark" read, that remains to be seen. At this point, the author has laid the groundwork for the story to take off, but nothing too controversial happens in this installment.

I thoroughly enjoyed this quick read and am curious to see where this series will lead. I will be jumping right into the next one immediately.

Chosen is a good story in spite of it the vanilla overtones. Now don't go gettin your britches in a wad! Most stories worth a grain a salt, will set the background initially. No worries, readers!

As a reader, I can sense the darkness. The initial tone of the story although vanilla, something is not completely kosher. There are elements meant to hint at darkness but isn't revealed just yet. Bravo, Josie! Beautifully written!

Adam is obviously walking sex and his victim is an American Princess, Grace. The two are dancing around the chemistry simmering between them. Grace is not interested for good reason. A dark and deadly family secret. The final straw in a long history of secrets and lies and the reason she is planning her escape from her family. Meanwhile, Adam is tapping into his inner warrior. He has found what he's been on a mission to find......

The good stuff occurs around the 82% mark. Be patient though. In this installment you will read a smattering of the unthinkable. Adam is truly uncivilized. Thank goodness! Shout out to every caveman, conqueror, and barbarian in his bloodline for their contribution to this dude who obtains whatever he desires by any means necessary! Man! December 16 can't get here fast enough! I'm expecting dark, dirty, and deep things from Adam!

Don't sleep on Adam and Grace, readers! Things are about to get uh really warm in the land where Adam is Lord and master! *sa-woons*

4.5 stars!

Sometimes I wonder why authors do this...

I dont remember when authors created the book cliff hanger...
But I remember the days when you read a HArlequin and you knew that there would be a HEA at the end of book. Then cliff hangers were created and boy did that make us mad. I mean who wants to wait weeks for a book. I’m the first to say that Pepper Winters has been in my back burner since I cant take her cliffies.(I just saying she is the queen of cliffies). I rather just wait for the ride to finish. BUT!!! Now its no more cliff hangers that shock us. If cliffies could not get any worst the author created the ULTIMATE CLIFF HANGER... You know the book that is divided into 12 months like Audrey Calran’s Calendar Girl (Which is sooo good but helloooooo 12 months long/1 book of the story published 1 time a month). Now Josie Litton invites you into this world of a 9 book series called Allure.. And man.....it Allured me... WOWSERS!!!. I would say this a mellower dark read. This is not a safe read book there is kidnapping, rape and a hot guy that I hate and love ADAM. ADAM, ADAM ADAM that name of course could never be more than a bad boy. I mean from our begining of time ADAM & Eve.

Here we have a sheltered American Princess (Grace) that is playing her time to leave her family secretly and go of own her own. She is a princess that has wealth, beauty, and brains. and she is complete opposite of her family. Her family beleives that upholding a certain look in the publics eye is very impotant and that if you do not follow the rules and bring public shame to the families reputation there would be punishment.

Adam and Grace had a really good connection. Grace does not care for look or for money. She is really focused on herself and getting the life she was always dreamed about and that is being far away from her family. Adam lost his family at the age of 8 yrs and comes from the wealthiest family in Europe. He belives in making people pay for things that harm his family and friends.

This book has rape, kidnapping, drama, hot sex, and a 9 book Ultimate Freakin Cliff hanger. I think a book is released every 2-3 months. Love love love love love!

4 Stars!

This was a pleasant surprise. I was skimming through my Kindle Unlimited and found this author after reading a similar storyline and found the plot intriguing. Needless to say, I was hooked from the very first page to the very last. This is a story about deception and although a mystery, I believe there is revenge as well. Both MC's have an immediate attraction and palpable chemistry. Grace, although raised with a privileged family is a relatable heroine. I couldn't help but to really enjoy her character. Now Adam? He is the epitome of everything I like in a tall, dark, brooding powerful, sexy anti-hero. His intentions for Grace is unclear. However, it's obvious they aren't good. There is no sex so far in this story but I'm am sure by book 2 or 3, things are going to heat right up. The chemistry was just too sizzling for it not to.

I really, really enjoyed this book. Josie Litton's writing style is so comfortable and expressive that I found myself visually immersed in the world of high society. The luxurious ballroom, the tedious conversation among the wealthy guests and the palpable sexual tension between the heroine and hero when they first encounter one another is intoxicating and creates a slow burn towards an unsuspected turn of events. It ends in a cliffhanger but if you have Amazon's Kindle unlimited you can read it for free.

America's Princess, Grace Delaney paints her seemingly glamorous world as one of secrecy, obligation, manipulation and loneliness She lives a hollow life dictated by her ruthless grandmother for the soul purpose of serving the family. A recent discovery of a family secret has caused her astonishing distress and she goes to great lengths to disguise her sorrow so her family does not become aware of her new found knowledge. The mask she hides behind is unexpectedly dislodged when she meets the gaze of a handsome stranger. She encounters Adam Falzon, the head of a powerful European dynasty, at a charity event and is spellbindingly captivated by him. Her family learns of the meeting and she is ordered to welcome his advances. Resentful of being used as a pawn, she battles between her desire for the sexy new acquaintance and her need to rebel against her family's manipulations. Before she decides what to do with her feelings, she is stripped of her ability to make any decisions whatsoever and doesn't understand why.

This is just a nibble of the Allure story and it had me hooked within the first few pages. There are so many different powers at play that I feel like I should keep notes. I want to know about each story line and how it will tie the relationship between the H/h together. She is such a charming character and he has a boatload of the antihero allure of dark romances but I sense some kind of honor in him that will distract us from his sinister plotting.

A label. One that comes from a well known family in which you are trying to escape. The odds are against you financially and publicly. As you make the plans you hear something most disturbing, but how do you get out with the knowledge already eating you alive and still live. when you have a plan finally a wild card comes in. He not only changes the game bu the rules as well. Fighting him and fighting your family become a chess game with all players agendas hidden under each piece. Her dream will becomes that, just a dream if she can't make the right moves to be free.
Awesome book. I can't wait to find out and how the she achieves end result.

Litton does it again with her new series!

Josie Litton sucks you right in to her bright mirrored world of the ultra rich where money and power can was away any stain-
Grace wants to run from the family she's become afraid of and although she's attracted to my he mysterious Adam, she wants a new life where she can be herself, not Anerica's Princess.
Adam wants Grace and he'll have her, regretfully.
Josie Litton's delightfully twisted mind brings us another fantastic hot and sexy suspense
That holds you from the first page!
I've already preordered part 2!
Thanks Josie❤️

I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book I've read by Josie Litton and I have to say it was fantastic. A story that takes you into the lives of the rich and political. There is just a hint of a mystery that Grace knows about, but we don't find out in this book.

Adam is very mysterious, good looking and arrogant. He makes for a very interesting story. The author gets you hooked into their lives. But it does end with a cliffhanger and what a cliffhanger it is. I am definitely looking forward to reading more about Grace and Adam.

Loving it!

Chemistry at it's finest with Grace and Adam. What is Adam up to? What did Grace overhear? What happened to Patrick? Did he kill himself or was he murdered? So many questions I can't wait to find the answers. December can't come quick enough for me to find out more.

Josie Litton author of Anew series, which I loved, has another hit in the making with The Allure Series.

I will warn you if you can't handle the darker side of romance then this book is not for you. That out of the way this book is very intriguing. You have Adam setting into motion some very dark plans that poor Grace will not see coming. Grace knows some secrets her family doesn't want unearthed she soon believes that's who is behind it. Not knowing that intriguing mysterious Adam has plans for her. We are left on a cliff hanger and boy is it a doozy of a one. Can't to read the next part.

This is the first book in the Chosen series. The author did a great job of getting me to care about Grace, and also peaking my interest in Adam. Grace is a real sweetheart who doesn't at all deserve what comes her way. I don't think Adam is a good or a bad guy, but I'll have to wait to find out what his agenda is. The book ends right when we were getting to the juicy part, but fortunately, book 2 is already out. I enjoy reading dark romance novels, so this series is right up my alley!

Intriguing, but as the secrets dragged on, both the H and the h's, it got a little boring. I found the writing a little repetitive, just certain phrases, and that added to the general sense of boredom. I hope the second novella reveals a little to keep things more interesting.

What I liked:
1) The dual povs.

What I didn't like:
1) The repetitiveness.
2) How good looking the h found the H. We get it already!
3) The story was boring.

This was a free download from Amazon and the author was new to me. It is a short read with a lot of vague action throughout the story. It didn't really hold my attention until the end, but not enough to continue the series. Too predictable. It could be me being over the whole " dom/ sub" story line reflecting a man with money going after the woman that puts up a front of having a strong and unbreakable persona. It just fell short for me.

Another great one!

Josie is an author worth investing in. Her stories always have sold plots, greatly built characters, and emotions that connect with the reader. Chosen Pt 1 is a great starter to a new novella. I appreciate the fact also that we never have to wait too long for the continuation. Thank you Josie!! And yes, all her books are OMGasmic.

Privileged America's Princess being pursued by the leader of an empire. Intrigue and fear woven delicately as you are snared into a story that is building into a story that you are desperate to be revealed. Ms. Litton definitely has me desperate for part 2. Well played Ms. Litton. Well played.

This would have very easily been a 5-star read for me had the book not ended on such an insane cliffhanger. I understand breaking novels up into smaller novellas. I don't like it, but I'm coming to terms with it. Sometimes, I gotta admit, I actually prefer the shorter length because I'm brain-injury-challenged right now and full-length books are a challenge. HOWEVER. This was suuuuch a cruel cliffhanger, and I'm not keen that there are, I think, 6 installments to this series. I'd prefer just three or four, but it is what it is.

All that aside, I've found a new author to fawn over. Josie Litton's writing is so beautiful -- it's what I've been looking for for a long time. I've been on the hunt for someone to uplift me, inspire me, encourage me -- and I found it all here. Is the plot insanely original? Not really. Rich girl meets impossibly rich guy and a dark game of cat and mouse begins. BUT. It was done really well. I loved the family dynamics. Grace was an awesome lead character who I will happily follow into the next books.

I've recommended it to loads of people already, and am looking forward to continuing the story.

I did get this as an ARC - in exchange for an honest review.

Grace Delany. The Princess of, possibly, the most politically & financially important families in the US.
Yet Adam Falzons ancestry makes the Delanys look like a Food Stamp dependent family.
He has also been taught in the "Way of the Warrior."
As a teen, he personally killed those who killed his parents.

Chosen pt 1 is a cat & mouse game. Only Grace doesn't realize she is the target.
She only knows that Adam's presence is touching her in ways that no other man ever has.
Thinking of him is all that is needed to make her... well, like a cheap car radiator, she's boiling over... and leaking!

This was a fun and easy read.
For me, everything simply flowed. It almost didn't seem as if I needed to read, it all just came to me.

It does end with a cliffhanger. Personally, I'd rather have it all together as a single title, but here it is and I'm guessing I'll deal with it.
But I am hooked!
And I NEED to know where the next 2 books are going to take me.

A dark romance between Grace and Adam. Grace is dubbed America's princess and she is the daughter of one of our Country's most prominent political families. Adam is gorgeous but ruthless with plenty of hidden secrets. He is from a wealthy old world family. He killed the killers who killed his parents. Lots of drama and suspense. An erotic thriller and it's good that we are able to read some from Adam's point of view. I thought the book was well written with strong characters and an engaging storyline. My main complaint is that the story is broken down into so many short books. I received an advance copy and voluntarily chose to review this book.

If there was ever a binge-worthy series, this is it. I can't believe I haven't found Josie Litton sooner, but now that I have, I have my TBR list full. Adam and Grace's story is dark, suspenseful, twisty, and fast moving. Their chemistry, even in their relationships most challenging times, is undeniable. I'm not sure how any reader lasted without being able to read all these stories at once, but i'm so glad I did. First book is free and the rest are free with your KU subscription. Great Series!!
