My name is Grace Delaney. I was born into this country’s most admired political family. When I was sixteen, the media dubbed me “America’s Princess”. I hate being called that, all the more so since I discovered the terrifying secret hidden behind my family’s glittering public image. A few months ago, I graduated from college determined to make a life of my own. But now, suddenly, Adam Falzon is in it. The head of an old-world family with a reputation for ruthlessness, he looks like a fallen angel. As attracted as I am to him, I’ve come to suspect that Adam is hiding secrets of his own more deadly and dangerous than I ever want to know. I don’t dare give into my feelings for him.
But I may not have a choice. With every beat of my heart, he is drawing me further into a web of dark desire. My chances of escaping are slipping away. Worse yet, I’m no longer sure that I want to.
CHOSEN is a story of dark romance. It contains scenes of coercion, both emotional and physical, and should not be read by anyone who could find that distressing.
Josie Litton is the author of several NY Times and USA Today bestselling romances.
Married and living in Connecticut, she is the parent of two grown children. Becoming an empty nester has left her plenty of time to write, think about writing, plan what to write next, and read. When she isn’t doing that, she’s cooking, gardening, and traveling.
In this second serial in the 'Chosen' series, Grace wakes up to discover that she's been kidnapped. Grace has no idea of where she is, who would take her, or why she's been taken. She bides her time, doing whatever she can to stay strong as her captor does his best to break her.
As more of her dignity is stripped from her, Grace remains defiant. She refuses to give her captor what he wants in order to appeal to her family. Unbeknownst to her captor, the joke is on him. Grace knows that her family is ruthless and cold-hearted, caring nothing for her safety and well-being.
Unlike Part One, this installment contains some darker content. Coercion, captivity, degradation/humiliation, abuse and rape are present in this work. If those are triggers for you, then steer clear.
I love a dark story, so this serial was right up my alley. However, despite the "dark" content, I have to admit that it didn't feel all that dark to me. It isn't the type of story that will leave you horrified and scared to read the next passage. Instead, it reads more like a "softer" attempt at tackling darker themes. In many ways, it reminded me of harlequin romance novels.
In any case, I did enjoy this serial and will be reading the next one immediately. Like the first one in the series, this one ends with a twist. I'm on to the next one to see where this story takes me.
Have you ever read a story that is soooooooo juicy, so drama filled, so DELISH you never want it to end? This series is definitely one I never want to end!
I am totally in love with Adam and I am in 100% agreement with his treatment of Grace! Every woman deserves a dominant alpha male who punishes sooooo deliciously! I can't wait to see what Adam has up his sleeve next!
Third installment release date is January 28, 2016. I'm on pins and needles awaiting the next installment. I feel it deep down inside Adam is gonna be extra wicked now that he's discovered he's the first man to ever share physically with Grace! Woooohoooo! Team Adam all day!
The writing was engaging and less repetitive than the first novella, but the plot in this installment was disturbing. Readers who like dark romances might enjoy this series. As it is, I just might be too vanilla for it.
The secret that the H held onto still wasn't revealed in this and that continued to annoy me...like a buzzing fly near my ear that I just can't manage to kill.
After the insane cliffhanger at the end of book 1, I couldn't wait to dive into book 2! While Josie Litton's writing style will hook me to read just about anything, I did find this novella dragged a little at the beginning. I wasn't sure what to make of the kidnap set-up, and I'm still not sure what to think of our dark romance hero. However, things really pick up about the 50% mark, and suddenly you're flying through the pages desperate to see how it will end.
I'll be reading book 3 for sure! I just wish there weren't, what is it, 7 installments to get through? Yeah. I'd definitely prefer fewer, but Josie Litton is a fave, so of course I'll be there reading.
Oh yah, this series is a winner! I love the characters and am fascinated by the plot. I started this book so curious to know why Adam had taken Grace hostage and what was the secret she overheard that has her so terrified. While Book #2 didn't give me the answers I was looking for, it sure increased my desperation for information and my need for Adam and Grace to encounter one another at greater length.
Adam's cruel treatment of Grace is both mysterious and infuriating. Without knowing why he is doing this, especially when it clearly pains him to do so, the reader also feels like a hostage. Grace's courage is really admirable and enhances her as a likable character. Adam's respect for her strength and his unrelenting attraction to her is ironically sweet reducing the readers contempt for his actions. I scoured each page for answers but few were forthcoming.
It is the conclusion of this installment in the series that is extraordinarily exciting. While little is revealed a lot happens. The interaction between Grace and Adam is intoxicating and prefaces what is to come in Allure #3. The next book will definitely be a new chapter between these two charismatic characters. I can't wait to see how they interact with one another and what comes of their new "arrangement."
I can not wait for the next book. Part two was so intense yet one singular objective: Never surrender. Taken in the night and waking up not knowing where you are; let alone if you're still in your own country? Makes you wonder and fear the unknown, just a little. Then he appears and you say to yourself 'I will not be broken" it becomes a mantra for a time but can she plot and plan her escape and get out alive? Or will it be thwarted? then he starts to make demands and asks questions. How do you answer? So well written it's like you're walking in her footsteps. Intense, Dark and just wow! This author is definitely on my favorite and must read list. Did not see this coming.
**ARC from Author Josie Litton for an honest review
Addicting! That's what this series is. Grace is now being held captive by an unknown masked man. She has no clue why and neither does the reader. Although we have both Grace and Adams' POV, his reason for abducting her and holding her captive is a mystery. The only thing that we know for sure is that it's linked to something he wants from her family.
I love Grace. She is strong and beautiful. She endures a lot while being held in a cell but still remains resilient. Although it is clear now that Adam is the antihero, I still love his character. He is truly a sexy beast. He messes up and crosses a big line in this book but I still remain a fan of his in the aftermath.
“What is your name?” “What's happened to you?” "Do you know where you are?” "What do you want? "Do you have a message for your family?”
All these questions from Adam. How is Grace supposed to answer. What does Adam want from her. Why did he kidnap her.
I hope the answers to these questions are answered soon. I feel for Grace in her circumstances and not pleased with Adams treatment of her. Can Ms. Litton redeem this man with such a dark soul and all the terrible things he's had Grace endure in book 2?
I'm ready for book 3 now.
If you enjoy a dark read get this book you'll be anxiously waiting for book 3 as I am.
Book 2 of the Chosen series. Yeeeessss!! We got down to business with this book! The first book had to set up the series and introduce the characters a bit. This one was even more of a page turner with a lot more interaction between Grace and Adam. I'm looking forward to seeing if and how Adam redeems himself. Or if he even tries. I hope Grace doesn't make it too easy for him. I can't wait to find out!
This starts right where part one left off. The story gets complicated and things start to heat up. Complications arise, but it's a great build on how the dynamics will be between the leads. I'm looking forward to the continuation of this series!!
It's a curious kind of read..not sure how I feel about the cliffhanger I find myself in. I like the story I just wish there was more detail involved. To much secrecy in my opinions.
This story is stunning! The intrigue and mystery keeps me enthralled and guessing as I devour the words like a starving soul... Dark, enchanting, soul-searching... Don't miss this!
If there was ever a binge-worthy series, this is it. I can't believe I haven't found Josie Litton sooner, but now that I have, I have my TBR list full. Adam and Grace's story is dark, suspenseful, twisty, and fast moving. Their chemistry, even in their relationships most challenging times, is undeniable. I'm not sure how any reader lasted without being able to read all these stories at once, but i'm so glad I did. First book is free and the rest are free with your KU subscription. Great Series!!
3.7 stars. While this story is still intriguing and I’d love to know where it goes, but I’m not willing to keep buying installments that are only about a hundred pages when there are at least 5 more installments to this story. I’d rather wait to see if it gets compiled into one full book. Shame cause I was interested in seeing how this played out.
Well, though we have finally concluded Grace’s mystery, the suspense leads into Adam. Why has he done what he’s done. Kidnaping Grace, for what purpose. Still so many questions unanswered but Dominance and desire play a big role for Adam. Starting part 3. Mmm, Jones st can’t seem to get enough. Definitely worth the read.
This continuation of Grace & Adam's story has me with even more questions than ever? Why is all this happening to Grace? Has her self-serving family brought this upon her? I'm diving into book 3 NOW...I have to have answers!!
Wow thank goodness I was able to read this as a complete book because as a serial the word TORMENT comes to mind if I'd had to wait for each installment. A very riveting story with sensuality and edginess the key words to this compelling story that hold your attention in a vise!
Part One is a cake-walk compared to this second part of Chosen. It's deal and may be too much for some readers. For me, I'm more invested in this story, and how it'll play out, and even wondering how much darker it'll get.
When Grace wakes up to discover that she's been kidnapped and put in a dark cold cell with very little to wear and eat. As her captor tries to strip away dignity and break her, Grace remains defiant. She refuses to give him what he wants in order to appeal to her family.
It didn't leave you with a major cliffhanger like book 1. It still had me immediately getting book 3. I couldn't put it down. It get dark in this book, but it's worth the read.
