The Complete Elmore Volume II: Black & White

Rate this book
The Complete Elmore Volume II, black and white, is a sister book to The Complete Elmore (color). This book contains over 700 pencil, ink, and combinations of both pencil and ink drawings. The book covers most of his career since 1981 when he started work at TSR (Dungeons & Dragons). Larry feels that this book could greatly help young artists in developing their drawing and inking skills. Books containing this amount of art, pencil and ink drawings, are very rare.

A book of drawings and sketches by my favorite artist. I don't know what I expected, but what I got was a whole lot of B&W drawings with some notes here and there regarding Elmore's methods and tools. Going through this book, I wish I had more working samples and step-by-step descriptions, or fewer half-nude ladies and some more varied material, but apparently I got what survived the decades.

I'm still glad I have this.

This is a 330+ page book dedicated to Larry Elmore's black and white sketches and drawings. I've been a fan of Larry's since the 80's, when Dragonlance first was released.

His artwork for Dungeons and Dragons and TSR defined those game worlds in ways that are still talked about today almost 50 years later..

I think the black and white is even more beautiful than the color paintings.
