My Mum bought me this book for Christmas as a joke and the joke turned out to be even better because the book is hilarious! I grew up with Ladybird books as a child and hadn't read any of their adult books until this one. It was great. Very British humour, very dry, and I was laughing out loud at every single page.

Hazeley and Morris offer a sarcastic spin to the apparently highly popular Ladybird children books, surely familiar to those in the United Kingdom. Presented with the most tongue-in-cheek comments on the dating world as interpreted through sketches from actual Ladybird books, the reader is able to see just how silly things can get in the world of dating and how mockery or 'taking the piss' can inject humour in a sometimes highly aggravating process.
There is little need to analyse or synthesise the book, readable in a mere 5-7 minutes, other than to say, sitting down to read it will surely leave the reader wanting to find the others in the collection. That is, if the intended humour can be found in these written words.
Kudos, Messrs. Hazeley and Morris for this lighthearted look at dating and all its permutations. Take the piss out of any subject and you'll be sure to have a great following.

I realise that I do not have a modern day sense of humour and it was proved thus when I read this book in the series 'Ladybird Books for Grown-Ups', which I bought for a friend who collects Ladybird books.
It is the most unfunny book I have ever read, not one of the incidents written about even moved me to a smile and some of them were downright insulting - call me old fashioned if you will ... and it is probably true!
The best that can be said about it is that the people who selected the artwork, from original Ladybird books, and the writers of the new text worked well together to garner a story around them, ridiculous as they may seem.
I now realise that this series is definitely not for me.

Ladybird books were the books which helped me learn to read, with the original artwork but new text designed for adults this had me in stitches in Waterstones.
Only wish the other books on the back were real, but unfortunately The ladybird book of dumping or friends with benefits don't exist.

This book was funny, I have a feeling this was written before the 'how it works' books in the series. These are more consistently funny. The original ladybird artwork is wonderful, some of them, like the cover are so evocative of 1950s Britain.

Round two of my final day of the year attempt to read many Ladybird books for Grown-ups in a highly suspicious attempt to beat the challenge target for 2015.
This book is on the murky world of Dating. Something that I know absolutely nothing about. However, I have heard everyone I know complaining like buggery about it, so I feel entitled to an opinion.
The book is mostly an analysis of the primary objectives and pitfalls of dating, what it can offer, and the huge cost to be paid for it in the future.
Another example funny:
Mostly, I think the book tries to tell people that dating is a bit of fun, and that expectations must be lowered. No, lower... lower still...

Due to my lack of participation in the dating world, my father decided to purchase this book for me to give me some pointers. Now THIS was hilarious!
Done in the style of the all popular 'LadyBird Book Of' series complete with the traditional artwork and a dash of British humour this is definitely one to pick up. It goes through what you should expect from dating in this day and age in a very honest manner, which is just perfect. It's in your face, it's raw and it's guaranteed to give you a giggle.

Ladybird books...small, water-coloured pictures with innocent texts from the 1930's . For children-right? Wrong!!! These books are the funniest you will read, full of wicked, very grown up sarcasm on range of topics. All with the short sentences and type face which mimic, with alarming accuracy, the cadence of the original series. The 'Mindfulness' book had us at Page 1.
These are PERFECT gifts for anyone over 30...and at $19.95 a steal.

Received this as a kind Christmas gift from a couple of friends who know me too well... Snorted out loud several times - I only wish it was longer! I find I feel less sorry for myself after reading these hilarious explanations of what dating is like.

This was a Christmas present from one of my best friends. Needless to say, but I haven't been in many relationships, in fact, I've only been in one. As a result of this, it is pretty clear why someone would pick out this book for me. However, it isn't my friend being mean or anything as I found it rather funny and somewhat enjoyable to read. Also it has pictures and a very large font, which makes it extremely quick to flick through.
This is a lovely, fun present to receive and fun fact: my friend actually bought me two other books in addition to this, but I had actually already owned and read them which I found hilarious. I love reading books, obviously, but it must be so difficult to choose for me. Part of the reason I rarely buy people books is the fact that you don't always know what someone has or hasn't read.
Overall, this book was enjoyable and I liked it. I never know how to rate shorter books like this as there isn't much writing for me to actually comment on, so I'm going to give it a rating of 3/5.
