3.5 stars, rounded up because the book ended on a very lovely note. This is actually a collection of doujinshi connected to the first of the Kotonoha series. I loved the happy ones, and especially the one told from Hasebe's POV. The main story was about their coming out to Hasebe's sister, and while parts of it were well done, Yomura has a tendency to sound really way to whiny. I had the same problem reading the original novel; it's not as noticeable when listening to the drama cd (which I also have and will listen to some time soon). Hasebe is a wonderful seme; it helps that he will forever have Ono Daisuke's voice, but even apart from that I love his awkward gentleness.

There are quite a few bed scenes in this one, but I have to say it was a bit too much for me, even considering that originally it wouldn't feel like that because it's just one or two per story and in this format it was just added up. They weren't badly written, exactly, but they often felt too long and drawn out, and while usually that sort of thing is not as noticeable because of the rest of the story it got a bit much at times. It was a very easily reading book, and it only took me a while because I was busy with things other than reading.

Overall it was a nice addition to the original story. I would have loved a bit more from Hasebe's POV, and maybe a few more illustrations, but the first and the final story made up for a lot, and the cover is simply lovely. The book also felt really nice in my hands while reading (I kept thinking that every time I picked it up or took it down so I think it's worth mentioning). There are similar collections of doujinshi out for other dear+ releases, but I wasn't a huge fan of the original there, so I'm going to skip those for now. I do think it's a great service for the fans though, and a life saver for people who don't have easy access to doujinshi or special papers.
