Peace is an illusion. Blood, violence, and death follow Mira like shadows. Battle lines have been drawn between human and Otherkin, and a bloody war is on the horizon: one that will end in either a shift in the world's balance of power...or ultimate destruction. In spite of their strength, powers, and a rage known only by the oppressed, the Otherkin are evenly matched by the superior numbers of the human army. To tip the balance in their favor, the Otherkin need more soldiers - and their only options are the Gladiators of New Haven city. Mira is sent across enemy lines to recruit any able-bodied vampires to her cause. But what she discovers along the way will blur the lines between friends and enemies. Seeds of doubt weaken Mira's allegiance, and she finds herself torn between the old masters who used her as entertainment and the new ones who consider her as nothing more than a weapon. As the war draws near, Mira will have to decide what she is truly fighting for.

Wow what an amazing instalment of Mira's story. Once a vampire slave behind the gated city and forced in the arena to fight and slaughter for the entertainment of humans. Not any longer though as Mira has found the Otherkin and by joining forces hopes to finally bring peace. It's a suicide mission though isn't it? Travel back into that awful place in the hopes of releasing her fellow vampires and raising an army. Yet as humans outnumber the Otherkin the shifters and vampires need to align. Mira trusts very few though and unfortunately she is right to have doubts! What started out as a journey of survival has taken Mira way out of her comfort zone and now not only has she realised that humans are as brainwashed as her fellow vampires but the Otherkin might have their own agenda too. All Mira wants is peaceful coexistence but there are those who will fight her on this. Hey Mira was born to fight and yes she is one tough cookie but seeing her growth as a character and indeed a woman is what makes this series so good. The stakes are high but Mira will give it all she's got and no one could ask for more than that! I was gifted a copy of the in exchange for an honest review Four and a half from me
read and reviewed on amazon but not here so here is my review for goodreads Mira and friends are back and it is to have peace between humans and otherkins but she and her friends along the way deal with lies, betrayal , friendship and a war to fight for what is right but the counsil of Sanctuary have other plans their hate towards humans are ruling their emotions and in turn they do blood oaths that Mira takes due to deception and lies .. She only wants the fighting to end and peace to begin does her friends stay human or turn into vampires at Mira's hand and which does she want to be with though she feels love is no more but has a bond between two men one being Stryker the Wolf and Lucian human and the Elite who was her master when she was a slave to his people but has become a friend .. so who will she choose and will the war end or continue and will the humans be killed , turned or join the otherkins to live in peace to find this and more out buy , read and review and read on ..
K.A. Salidas' "Revolution" and "Transition" are the third and fourth tales in the Chronicles of the Uprising series. The series is starting to have the lovely feel of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King! I love it. #3 tells the tale of storming the city where Mira was enslaved. #4 has an amazing flashback to Mira's life before slavery. While these are definitely not romances, there was a bit of romance in #4! Squeee! Epic storytelling! I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
Revolution by Katie Salidas is Book 3 of the Chronicles of the Uprising Series and continues forward with the next read in Ms. Salidas’ gripping and original dystopian/fantasy/paranormal series. This series must be read in order as it picks up right where the last book left off.
So they made it! Sanctuary is real and it’s heaven! At least for the moment that is; Mira knows full well that some things can be outright deceiving and with the coming war this is only one of them. To keep her human friends safe, she strikes a deal with the leaders of Sanctuary; protect her companions and she’ll return to New Haven, release all the vampire prisoners and recruit them for Sanctuary’s armies as the Otherkin are in desperate need of warriors.
Trust is a difficult thing for our favorite warrior vamp to give, however Mira will do whatever is necessary and so leaning on her new allies to get their goals met, Mira is in for the fight of her and her friends lives as shadiness, backstabbing and double dealing occurs. Who is a warrior to trust? Sit back, grab some popcorn and let the games begin peeps because you are in for the ride of your life...edge-of-your-seat ride to be exact! A highly recommended series!
Please note that an ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.
Loved this addition to this series! Mira continues to kick lots of butt, and prove that she is definitely someone that shouldn't be crossed. Vampire Mira, human Lucian, and werewolf Stryker, head back to the city where Mira was held prisoner in order to save the other prisoners, and to hopefully find allies. Mira has hopes of peace between humans and the Otherkin (Vampires, Shifters, etc.), but everyone isn't on board with that plan, so Mira needs to watch her back. Mira has lots of enemies trying to kill her; some she expects, but others she doesn't see coming, so there's lots of dangerous situations that Mira finds herself in. Lots of action in this book, and it's great to see some people get what's been coming to them for a long time now! Mira's character also continues to grow, and I'm excited to see her continue to develop. There's a little bit of romance in this book, but Mira is still hurting over the death of her last mate and she also finds it very hard to trust others, so it's slow going. I love that we are getting to see a little bit softer side of Mira! Excited to see where this story is going to go next!
In this third book Mira continues her crusade to free the vampires and protect her human friends. Try to get allies proved to be an almost impossible task. Deceive, power struggled, intense fights, blood and death were leading a never-ending fight. Doubts and distrust had Mira reevaluating how to achieve peace between the humans and Otherkin leading her to show her leadership and her reasoning to achieve the goal. An exciting book full of action, suspense, violent fights and ruthless characters that stop at nothing for power. Liked the detailed descriptions that made me visualize the scenes and the intensity of the fights. Mina was strong, powerful and certainly, a vampire with its gory traits making the story more interesting. Liked this story that kept me following the action and enjoying the reading.
The one thing I am truly enjoying about reading this series is there always seems to be a lesson to learn. This books seems to focus around hate and revenge and it never seems to turn out the way you want it too. Mira is a very strong woman and even though she should hold hatred in her heart, she doesn't. She just wants everyone to live in peace and stop killing each other. But of course those who should support her don't and even though she doesn't truly want to she does what has to be done in the end.
Once again a great book and I can't wait to see where the next book takes me and what lesson I can learn.
Another great book in the Chronicles of the Uprising Series. I enjoyed seeing how Mira handled the betrayal from others and the seeing how she handles the affection from both Stryker and Lucian. Looking forward to reading the next book to see where they go next.
I am hooked on Mira and her ventures to find peace. This book feels as it could be an end to the series. But that's not so as we know there are more books available after this one. I'm ready to dive into the world again with Mira. I will follow Mira through all her battles with everyone as she's grown to be a strong leader with a wise view on the world.
****FULL REVIEW**** *I requested to review a copy of this audiobook for an honest review from the author or narrator.
Mira knows she could live in peace in the beautiful city of Caldera Grove, but she's made a deal. She has a suicide mission back to the halls of New Haven, to keep her human friends to keep safe and free fellow vampire slaves to create an army for the Otherkin. In saving her fellow slaves, she'll have to win them over as well. All while trying to save the human population that's not guilty for harming them, to only have revenge on the Magistrate and Elite that have treated them as salvages, while being a pawn in other's plans of revenge.
Kerri has a smooth cadence as she narrates the story to us. This is what gives the relaxed feel of Mira. However, there is a small section in chapter two that feels as if Kerri lost that smooth flow as she has a slight pause in reading a description. It's so minor that I rewound to verify it was there. There are a few pauses that feel a slight bit longer than the normal cadence of Kerri. They feel as they are changes in the focus or view within the chapter. But otherwise, Kerri has voiced Mira in two of the three books and holds true to the feel Mira projects.
Being in a new place brings new feelings to the surface. Mira is experiencing new emotions she's not felt in over thirty years. She finds she's worried for her friends, yes friends as Mira hasn't had one in years, and their safety while she's gone and if she doesn't return. I think she's seeing jealousy in one person as well, but doesn't know it. There are two potential love interests for Mira, if she'll let her guard down long enough to let them in and for her to trust them. But the betrayal she's seeing often from others makes it hard to do. The battles she fights also shows the loyalty that she has from people as well, which may help in building some sort of relationship.
I love that Mira is vocal on what she feels is right and adamant about how she wants things to turn out, for all. Mira seems to have stepped into the role of mediator in Caldera Grove between the humans and otherkin. Two extremely different views of the way things should be. Mira knows what she wants and is determined, with help, to get there, for everyone to get along without pointless deaths. They are not the enemies, the enemies are the ones that want to harm them all, no matter if human, shifter, vampire, or something more.
We see there is more to battle than what Mira first thought. She's got to grow respect from her kind and the otherkin. She also knows war may not be the best action. What about those that are innocent and taught the wrong ways of their kinds. Could innocents be saved and peace found?
I am hooked on Mira and her ventures to find peace. This book feels as it could be an end to the series. But that's not so as we know there are more books available after this one. I'm ready to dive into the world again with Mira. I will follow Mira through all her battles with everyone as she's grown to be a strong leader with a wise view on the world.
From the moment Lucian helped her escape the Iron City, Mira knew her life would never be the same. She'd fought for so long as a gladiator, always yearning for freedom. Now that she has it, it hard to accept that she's left behind so much. Granted, it wasn't much to begin with. Deep in her heart, however, she'll hold close the memories of the friendships she forged in the dungeons, little and fleeting though they are.
The thought of finding Sanctuary is at the forefront of Mira's mind. If she and her companions can find it, she knows everything will change for the better. At least that's what she keeps telling herself. She's lived so long as a prisoner of war that it's hard to accept the fact that she only has to answer to herself now. Sure, there are others depending on her, but that doesn't change just how much things have taken a different turn.
Determined to make the most of the situation she and her companions now find themselves in, Mira promises herself that she'll do everything possible to make a better life happen. Part of her knows that such a thought is wishful thinking, most especially when the guards of Iron City are breathing down her back. If she's to succeed in righting all wrongs against her kind, she'll need to place her trusting in those she's never come across until now. The question is, how can she do that when everyone she meets has an agenda of their own from the get-go?
I've honestly enjoyed this series from the moment I first read Dissension. K. A. has weaved a tale that may sound a little far-fetched, but it's not. What if there were really vampires? Would we humans co-exist with them? Or would we commit the atrocities that have been committed against them as K. A. has vividly portrayed throughout this intriguing series?
If you haven't caught up on the first two books, you're definitely going to want to. Revolution will take you for a ride that will definitely rock your world and then some. K. A's writing is definitely pleasing, and you find yourself immersed in the environments she's created. Every emotion, feeling, and action comes through quite clearly, leaving you wanting to read more by the time you get to the very end. While this may be the end of this trilogy, I've a feeling that there's more to come for Mira and her companions. I honestly can't wait!
•••I listened to the Audible Audio Edition of this book•••
Kerri McCann really has made Mira her own! I love the way she portrays her now. Full of hope and yet resigned to the reality that she just might lose and lose her life and all her friends' lives in the process. All the characters show a depth of emotion I would surely miss altogether if I was just reading the book. I can't wait to listen to more! I will definitely be looking for more titles narrated by her and I fervently hope she continues on with this series!
This series must be listened to (or read) in order. The first book is Initiation. The second book is Dissension. The third book is Complication. I can't wait to listen to Transition!
Mira knows they can't truly trust the Council... But what other choice does she have at the moment? She needs to keep her Human friends safe and she needs to go back and rescue the rest of the imprisoned Vampires. She can't do that all on her own... Not entirely. She trust her Human friends (especially Lucian) and Stryker and his Pack of Wolf Shifters but that's about it. She NEEDS to keep her promise to George! Will the rest of the Vampires agree to fight in the war against their Human captors once they are free? Will the Council keep their promises? Can she trust them to do what is in the best interest of everyone and not just themselves? Will she die while trying to free the enslaved Vampires?
Full of action and intrigue this series just keeps on getting more intense! You never know what will happen next or who you can trust. Mira grows more and more complex as she discovers more about herself as a Free Vampire and comes to care deeply for more and more people. It is a coming of age story full of hope, pragmatism and sarcastic humor that will keep you enthralled and entertained from beginning to end!
***This series is suitable for mature young adult through adult readers who enjoy post postapocalyptal dystopian supernatural fantasy horror with plenty of action, mystery, intrigue, and adventure with a dash of romance :)
What a GREAT end to the trilogy! Revolution picks up in a seem less flow from the previous book Dissension leaves off. I swear I love that about this author! She always makes me feel like I'm part of the world I'm reading. I highly recommend this series! This book finds our kickass heroine Vampire/gladiator former slave to humans Mira bartering a deal with the Otherkin Council in which to keep her human companions safe. In exchange for Santuary for herself and her friends she would have to go on basically a suicide mission back into the Iron Gate, the horrible city in which Mira was tortured and enslaved for over thirty years , bring back all the vampire gladiators so the Otherkin could have a formidable army, and the slaves there freedom. What happens next is an action paced, mind thrilling , oh yeah kind of story that had so many twists , turns and fist pumping moments that I am going to be rereading this one again, just because! Mira is one of my favorite characters, the growth from defiant slave to one hell of a leader is awesome to behold! Watching her slowly accept friendship and touching without it being combat was heartwarming. Watching her deal with her former captors , the council, had my jaw dropping a few times. This book brings back characters from the previous two books and some of those interactions are truly priceless. I loved how this book tied in so smoothly with the others , and ended in the way it did. Now saying that does not mean I wouldn't loved to see more on these now beloved characters, because I so would love to see how things go for all of the characters. That speaks for itself. BUY THIS BOOK!
This was wonderful ending to this trilogy. Mira had thought that she would find a hiding place with people like her. Instead, she is in the middle of a war. She isn't sure who she can trust, other than the 3 humans she brought with her. Some of the Otherkin respect her, many hold her in contempt, and others still are afraid of her and the changes that have come with her arrival. Mira knows she will still have to fight, but exactly for whom and why are decisions she must make. Picking up right where the second book leaves off, Revolution shows Mira and her group still in limbo with the Otherkin. They want Mira to do their bidding in exchange for keeping her humans safe. Mira doesn't trust many, if any of them. She had wanted a relaxing life after what she'd lived through, but that wasn't looking promising. Besides, she still had to go in and free certain of her friends from the horrible life she had lead. I was rooting for her through the whole thing and hoping she wound up with the 'right guy' as I absolutely had a favorite. Overall, there were some surprises, plenty of action, and betrayal in spades. I completely enjoyed it. This is a 5/5. I couldn't wait for this book to come out and I wasn't disappointed. I loved the whole cast of characters the author put together in this trilogy.
Thank you to the author/publisher for the review copy of this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.
Terrific Trilogy (that I would love to see more of soon)!! :D August 6, 2014 Absolutely awesome conclusion to this trilogy!!! I've been hooked from book 1, & finished the series in less than a week. The story is original, & the characters kept me coming back for more. Mira's longing for peace is an unending battle. Every step closer seems to lure more adversaries out from hiding. Her ability to battle on relentlessly is honorable & makes me love her that much more. Never give up!! Stryker & Lucian's personal issues have become much more apparent, but Mira's always a step ahead not touching that quarrel even with her sharpest blade. I was honestly having a difficult time deciding who I wanted to see her with more. Even though this was a great ending spot to this part of the story I still hope we see more of these characters in the near future. (Yeah, I know, I'm a sucker for spin offs & any way to continue the story!) Don't get me wrong...we were not left hanging in any way. I simply think there is a lot more awesome that could come after the end of this battle. ;-) Sooooo...I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for whatever Salidas decides to deliver us next. =D http://jenisbookshelf.blogspot.com/20...
Wow! This series just keeps getting better and better! Expect the unexpected. It kept me on the edge of my seat and left me wanting more. Mira’s story continues to evolve taking us to new and exciting places. The characters become more complex with some having hidden agendas. Revolution is action packed all the way to the end and then we are hit with a shocking conclusion. Katie Salidas is able to breathe the life of hope into this seemingly hopeless tale. This part of the journey takes Mira to the point of no return with the peace she seeks nowhere in sight. War is here and the death toll is adding up. The question is who will end up on top and what will they do with losing side?
I have enjoyed this series and consider it a must read for all of the vampire and dystopian fans out there. It is truly a journey worth taking.
The time has come for Mira to face her fears and return to the one place she never wanted to see again, but she would do anything to save the ones she cares about. The battle begins. Lives will be lost and betrayal is at hand. Not everyone in Mira’s new found life can be trusted. The stakes are higher than they have ever been before. It is time to free her people and stop the slavery or die trying.
New Haven Here We Come (Audiobook) So they have visited the Wizard and the Emerald City (the Otherkin & Caldera Grove) and now it is off to kill the Wicked Witch (the Magistrate & his Elite) and free the munchkins (Gladiator Vampires). Sadly I think the Vampires would probably end me after seeing them referred to as munchkins.
This third book is as good as the first two. Driven by a great story line with a cast of intriguing characters.
Kerri McCann again does a very good job with the voices, inflections and personalities. You can really feel Mira's emotions in the inflections.
Will Mira get the peace she is looking for? Who will win Mira's heart, Lucian or Stryker or someone else? What will become of the other Gladiator Vampires, especially the yummy George? Who will survive? (This is sounding like the end of each episode of the TV series Soap)
Enough of the jesting. You will not be disappointed in this series, the Chronicles of the Uprising.

a fitting conclusion to the trilogy. sometimes, as a reader, you end up with so many expectations and demands for the finale of a series that nothing lives up to what you had in mind (most people when it comes to Harry Potter, books or films). Revolution doesn't fall into the category of falling short. The actions of our characters, particularly Mira, are understandable. For me, one of the most irritating things some authors do is write for plot and revolve the characters around it, just to make their plot work (think classic soap opera). Salidas doesn't do that - she's a character writer. Her characters respond to the happenings of the plot. I think some authors are forgetting this is how good writing begins - it has to be character based and driven. Salidas hasn't forgotten, and I doubt she will.
Revolution is a fitting finale to a vampire, post-apocalyptic survival tale.
I really enjoyed reading this conclusion to the Chronicles of the Uprising series! The whole series was amazing but this book was the best yet because it tied everything up, had loads of action, drama, excitement, tension, old friends were reunited, relationships are being forged and growing!!
I love how each books continues where the last left off with no confusion about what's going on. Katie is an excellent writer, gives great detail about her characters and scenes that make you feel like you are a part of the story.
This series is excellent, but don't take my word for it...go get it and give it a try!! You wont be disappointed!
*I received this book in exchange for an honest review...and honestly I LOVED IT
I've been waiting for this book and it didn't disappoint. All Mira wants is peace. Tired of the fighting and the constant battle just to survive Mira takes on an impossible mission to free her fellow Vampires. So many twists and turns I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I've lived every book in the series but I think this is my favorite. It has everything I love action, suspense, loyalty and a relationships that continue to grow. I love the sweet revenge she got with Olivia. That was long over due. You will ,over this series. Katie is a great author and she does Vampires like no else.
OMGee!!! We have missed no time between book 2 and book 3, so we are with Mira in Sanctuary and she is getting ready to make deals to ensure the safety of 'her' humans in exchange for returning to the city. Mira and Stryker have some tension between them, and I was super interested in seeing where that led to!! Poor Mira just wants to find some peace and acceptance in life. I cant give too much away- but ill say this NOT PREDICTABLE!! Go GO GO GO GO GO GO GO and read this series! You will not be sorry! ~Dowie
This books picks up right where the second one left off. Mira and her human friends are still not “safe” in the one place she thought she would be with the Otherkin, instead she finds herself and her friends in a middle of a war. This series was awesome and I absolutely loved Mira’s story and her desire to just live a normal life (well as normal as one can be as a vampire ☺ ). There were so many twists and turns in this story and so many surprises you will be sitting on the edge of your seat the whole time. The story is well written and I look forward to many more from this author
WOW! Now that was intense! So many twists and turns and surprises! I had to use eye drops to keep my eyes from drying out because they were wide in shock! The fight to free her fellow enslaved vampires has come, and it's a suicide mission. But that doesn't stop Mira from going back to free her people. But one thing after another keeps working against her. Her determination and insistence on freedom for everyone won't let her give up, or lose. Can't wait to see what the final book has in store for her. I hope she finally gets some peace.
In this book, Mira has peace in sight to only to have conditions put in place. To gain sanctuary, she's told that she has to lead a rescue for the vampire gladiators she left behind. Mira and her new friends embarks on the new mission where betrayal and danger lurk around every corner. Action packed and fast paced, Mira's story draws you in as you wait for her to find her HEA. Hints of a possible future romance will rush you to read the next in the series. My voluntary review is based upon a review copy.
Omg I absolutely love this author not only are her books and storylines some of the best I have read in a long time ,but it also has some of the most original content.
Now with this last installment we have finally come full circle. Mira is going to meet her destiny. In some of the best narrative I have had the privilege to read the conclusion will keep you on the edge unable to put it down until it's over
This book was sent me by Katie Salidas in exchange for a fair and honest review. The third book in this series does not let up on the excitement created by Mira and cohorts. There's plenty of blood and gore and the story line stays true to the theme of escaping from the tyranny caused by the survivors of the holocaust against non humans. Very much with an "Animal Farm" theme this book is another great read.
