An M/M Gay Shifter Mpreg Romance

Ancient dragon shifter and arson investigator Liam Morgan has fought against his instincts to take a mate and sire a child for centuries, but now his dragon is fighting back. When a new case puts him face to face with an insanely attractive officer who sports a dragon tattoo, it's all Liam can do to resist the urge to claim the man as his mate.

With a serial arsonist on the loose, Shane McKenna finds himself turning to Liam to help solve a case that could finally give him the respect he deserves.

But he never expected to find a much-needed kinship with the stoic scientist. And he definitely never expected to dream about Liam in a way that leaves him questioning his sexuality... and craving the touch of one very specific man.

As their case--and their relationship--heats up, Liam can't fight the powerful force that draws him to Shane.

But claiming him has dire consequences. When an old enemy threatens to once again destroy everything Liam holds dear, he'll stop at nothing to protect his mate and their unborn child.

Dragon Fire is a standalone novel with a HEA ending, a satisfying epilogue, and NO CLIFFHANGERS!

Content Warning: This book is a first time gay for you / straight to gay romance. It contains explicit, unprotected love scenes and male pregnancy, or Mpreg. Adults only shifter romance!

Liam Morgan, an arson inspector, has a secret that he has held onto for many years. Shane McKenna, a cop, is the youngest and least welcomed by his family. Liam and Shane are thrown together on a case. Is it destiny that the two men work together, and become more than just working partners?

I didn't know what to expect when I picked this up, but I was pleasantly surprised that I had such a good time. It was fun, fast paced, and the characters were intriguing. It is everything I want from a book, something to counteract the problems in real life.

I liked it so much, that I already have the second in the series.

This one was ok. I'm not sure I bought into the relationship per say, but I could see it by the end. The dragon stuff with Liam all seemed very over the top too.

I do wish that Shane somehow turned into a dragon or gained some length on his life being with Liam. The thought that Liam is going to be alone again just makes me sad. It takes away from the HEA for me.

This was a quick read and strangely satisfying although there are quite a few weaknesses in there.

The first half was definitely weak and not really promising.
But around 60% it started to be a good read.
And I definitely loved the epilogues. Finally someone who understands the need for a good conclusion.

This book has a nice story. But it lacked romance. I can't believe I'm saying this. This is PNR. They're mates. But I can barely feel the heat. Absolutely no insta lust IMO. It's a slow burn. My goodness, Shane was actually checking a girl's ass in front of Liam at some club. And Liam just chuckled with him. Lol. It was that weird. I think they work more as a friend. *yikes* Although eventually, they had hot sex. And that was after an Oracle (a seer?) told Liam that Shane was his mate.

I don't get it. Why do you need someone else to find you a mate? And there's no mention that fated mates have extended life. So that means Shane will die someday. And then Liam's dragon will want to mate and sire again.. WTF?? I don't think this is HEA. Seriously, dude, I don't want to think about this possibility but it sort of catching up on me. And one last thing I don't like, this book involved dead lover. I hate that. If I had known there would be a dead lover, I would not read this book. Yes, there has been a dead lover book that I absolutely loved. But it has to have a great deal of an emotional payout.

I keep reading till the end because the mystery in this book doing nice keeping me on the edge. If you like a mystery than romance I think you would like this book. As for me, I'm more on the romance side.

Well dang

I hate when that happens. This book had potential. Why do authors do that? It was going good, had a good build up then boom quick battle with no understanding of the whys and how, then secrets are let out then end. From there epilogue where everything is all sunshine and roses. Was the author not feeling the book anymore and just wanted it done? Like what happened? Why didn’t we get to be part of the fall out? Where did the dead dragon come from? Why was it attacking the town. Why didn’t we get to see baby born? Why was so much not written? Still good story just disappointed in what could have been

There are certainly seeds of a good story here, and at times they even give some decent fruit, but the tendency to give into the cliche side of the fource meant this was never gonna be more than mediocre. Which is sad since there was actually something here at its core.

I liked this story but I really wanted bit more, maybe 100 pages more. Both MC’s were easy to like. The relationship didn’t seem forced but I wanted more in regards to that and also the fallout with Shane’s family. No matter though, I’ll still be moving on to book 2

Meh....

The G4Y element in this book was not done very well imo... granted it’s rare that I ever think they are done well. In fact that element really irked me...

But I’m not gay. I’ve never fucked a guy. Never wanted to fuck a guy. I’m pretty sure those are two pretty big prerequisites for being gay.

Said every mediocre G4Y book out there....

I mean no wonder gay men hate reading this crap. That statement even made me feel cheap.

This story had a lot of potential. (dragon) shifters, suspense, mpreg!

But all the good parts where off-page. I was so disappointed by that. I felt robbed!

Shane meets Liam at a arson scene. Liam, unbeknownst to humans, is a dragon shifter, which is why he is an excellent arson investigator. But this scene isn't normal. It was set by a dragon(fire) and sadly Liam can't remember the night before... so he could be the one.

Well Shane has always been 'straight' something about Liam sets him off. Instant attraction that Shane fights off but finally gives in. Even when he is approached by his hot sex buddy he pushes her away because all he can think about is Liam and all his sexiness.

Liam is concerned about losing his humanity. He is still hung up on a love from long, long ago. Wilhelm. He still blames himself for his death. But as a dragon shifter he has to sire a child once every couple of hundred years or fear going feral(all dragon no more human). He is past due and fears the fires that are springing up are him losing himself at night to his dragon.

But as the hot sizzling chemistry sparks between Shane and Liam (aka they are both super horny and that leads to sex)... Liam finds a clue about the culprit to the arson cases and it's his worst fear. It's worse than him losing his humanity and now he has Shane to think about. Shane is endangered and Shane now may be carrying his child.

There is a 'battle' where the culprit is confronted(or more like he confronts them).

We get an epilgoue of sorts but I didn't get a lot of closure with it. I am still left with questions.
It was never explained. I felt it was just put there so the author had an excuse to through in some (need to know) details about Liam's past love.

Also it is hard to believe they only had one child in the epilogue(which takes place years later). Shane gets knocked up the first time they go bareback? You're telling me it was a one time deal? Is dragon sperm only fertile until a baby is sired? But Liam had said he wanted to have multiple babies with Wilhelm back in the day? So why aren't we surrounded by children?? There isn't an explanation.

This one turned out different than I thought but I really liked it. I honestly thought this would have been one of those fated mate stories where from the moment they see each other the sparks fly. This isn’t like that at all. This story built the attraction over time and subsequent interactions. Then there is another added connection thrown in which I really liked.

Liam is a 500 year old dragon shifter who’s had his heart broken centuries ago but is still scared to love again. Unfortunately his dragon has other ideas and demands a mate immediately.

Blake is a cop who always seems to come in 2nd best to all his other siblings. Self esteem shot to crap he takes hookups as they come, but always with women, because he’s not gay. That is until he meets Liam who changes Blake’s thinking all together.

Liam and Blake have an intense, fiery passion that once ignited burns hot and incredibly bright. I really enjoyed the twist that deepened their connection. I would have liked to have seen more of the emotional side between both characters, however. There’s was no doubt the chemistry and passion were very much alive.

This is my first Wolf Specter book and I’m really looking forward to reading Owen and Ivan’s stories. The world this author creates is enthralling. I want to know more about these dragons and where they come from.

Overall, this was an incredibly enjoyable start to a dragon shifter, mpreg series. Recommend.

Liam lost his love centuries ago and has been fighting his dragon side recently to find another mate. Dragons who go without mates too long can become dangerous to themselves and others, but Liam isn’t ready for another mate.

Shane is just a police officer assigned a potential arson case who happens upon the sexy shifter. Shane, up until this moment, has always identified as straight. Sure, he’s lonely, involved in a bad “relationship” with a woman using him to get to his brother, and unhappy with his family – but interested in a man? He’d never thought that he would be.

The oracle is supposed to pick Liam’s mate… what happens if that person is Shane? What happens if it isn’t?

**

Shane and Liam have a super-hot chemistry with one another. The back and forth between these guys is played just right.

There is a bit of a mystery and the fun of a true dragon battle extraordinaire and… it’s mpreg! Wooot!

I was very pleasantly surprised by this. It was very well written, had some complex characters and plot and the smexy times were as hot as I’d hoped for.

I highly recommend this to shifter fans, especially of dragons and mpreg.

A nice dragon shifters/MPREG book. Liam is a dragon shifter. And his dragon shifter wants a mate and reproduce. Liam meets Shane and starts a friendship. His dragon wants more, but Liam has unresolved issues from his past. But after the first time of unprotected sex, Shane is pregnant. There is some trouble for the couple with another dragon, but there is a HFN in the end. It was a nice book. It could have had more sex in it. It certainly felt like the sort of book that would have more sex in it. So that was a bit disappointing. 2 scenes is not enough. Also, I cannot say this book is HEA. There is no mention that Shane's life expectancy will be the same as Liam. So in a couple of decades Shane will die. And after a few hundred years Liam's dragon will want to mate again. How is this a HEA????? Not in my world. That's why I cannot give it more stars. I want HEA, not HFN.

The Awesomeness is Real

The plot was great. The romance was steamy, sexy in a way that didn't take away from the story. Finished the book in a couple hours and I just wanted to read the next in the series immediately. So many paranormal romance authors don't pay due diligence to grammatical errors and editing. That is Not the case with this story. It was worth every penny or if your working with kindle unlimited all the better. A must read if you enjoy a suspenseful, sexy, well written m/m shifter romance.

This book is just badass. Dragon shifter + GFY+ MPreg, it was like trifecta of awesome

Wolf is a superb writer. I was engaged the entire time, and the imagery? I wish this could be a movie, I'd watch the hell out of it. Move over Saphira!!!

When it says "The End" keep going. There are two epilogues, each one better than the next, one in each MC's POV.

I'm so very happy to have read this book, I want more!!

This was actually surprisingly enjoyably for me! The writing wasn't awkward, it didn't feel cheesy and weird. I think it could have been longer, with a bit more getting to know you, and a bit more explanations about the world, shifters as well as dragons. However, for what it was (free on KU!) this was pretty darned good.

Color me shocked! I'll definitely be reading more of this series.

**Grammar**

Liam Morgan is a dragon shifter, he was born 7 centuries ago and in all his long life, he really loved only one person. Wilhelm was a knight and he and Liam had met while working for the same Lord. The human had been the first man for Liam, who at that time was only a century old, a young dragon. They were happy and Wilhelm was expecting his baby, when some dragon of a rival clan,Anton, had decided to punish Liam for mating with a human. The scene was terrible, the human was burnt alive and when Liam found him, he was devastated and his dragon had gone mad. Wanting to get revenge on the Ebonwings clan, with Owen's help, he destroyed an entire town. For centuries after that he refused to mate again, but each dragon needs to mate and sire a child otherwise he goes crazy. 3 centuries after Wilhelm, Liam mated again with an human woman and they had a daughter. He didnt love the mother of his child, she needed money and theirs was just a deal, but he had loved the baby. Sadly the girl had been human and she had aged and died in the end, leaving Liam alone again. In the present day, 3 centuries after this episode, we see that Liam's dragon is pushing him again to mate and sire. His friends, Owen and Ivan, suggest him to go to the Oracles and ask them for a new mate.
Liam is investigating an arson crime scene for the police when he meets Shane, the detective sent on the spot.
Shane isnt gay, he never thought about another man in that way, but something pulls him towards Liam. The man is kind and smart and most importantly he treats him like he values something, for Liam he isnt a big failure like his family thinks.
While working on the same case they start spending a lot of time together and become friends. We dont know why, but Shane starts having dreams about Liam, and in these dreams he is Wilhelm. This is something that doesnt get explained. Liam thinks that maybe Shane has some oracle blood in his veins or maybe part of Wilhelm's soul is in Shane's body, but we dont find it out in the end, and this is something i really wanted to know. Shane has a dragon tattoo on his arm, and the only explanation he gives to Liam is that he loves dragons. Too many things make us believe that Shane has some sort of powers, maybe he really has some oracles ancestors in his family's line.

Liam is starting to really care about Shane, they even kissed once (when Shane was drunk), and he doesnt want to put him in danger. He thinks that his old enemy,Anton, is back and that he will try to kill all the ppl Liam loves and Shane is on the top of the list. About this we dont know how Anton come back from the dead, there is no explanation and damn it if we needed one....

Liam decides to go to the Oracles to ask for a mate, but Fate is a bitch and they say that his mate is Shane. The detective is an omega and is his fated one in this life. This was a bit sad bcs we know that in the end Shane will age and die, I want to believe that when a human mates with a dragon he will acquire some of his powers like the immortality, i dont wanna think about the fact that these dragons love, mate and in the end are always destined to see the person they love die, that would be terrible, an ever ending circle of suffering. Let's hope that if there will be a 3rd book the author will tell us that a dragon's mate becomes immortal bcs like things are now this is really sad.

Anyway back to the story...

Liam's is back from the oracle when Shane calls him and tells him he is sorry about what happened the night before, he was drunk but he still remembers their kiss and he doesnt regret it. He ends the call telling Liam that he wants to meet him and talk. Liam knows that this isnt a good idea, he wants Shane too much, but in the end he cant refuse.
Liam asks Shane if he still wants to know if he is gay, and Shane answers yes. They start talking about their past experiences, but soon after they end up kissing and touching. Shane really wants to have sex with Liam, but the dragon is scared of hurting him. He wants Shane to know about him and his past before they do this. His dragon doesnt want to talk, but needs to mate and wants Shane, but the human part of Liam doesnt want to just have sex and sire with this man, he loves him.
Liam decides that the best thing to do is leave the apartment. He needs time to think, and also if he knows he was an asshole, this was the best for both of them. Shane is pissed and still half naked when he tells him that if he changed his mind he can say so but that he doesnt need to run like that. Liam replies that Shane doesnt know him, that he will hurt him, but the human doesnt believe him.
Shane is in heat, the dragon put him in this condition. Liam knows that only mating with him will stop this, but he doesnt want to get him pregnant, not before Shane knows about all.

The first time they have sex is bcs neither of them can resist the pull. All is consensual and really hot,but Shane still doesnt know what Liam is. He is still having these dreams and he is starting to understand, but isnt sure. Shifters are well known, but no one thought there were also Dragon shifters.

Later that night Liam tells him that he needs to leave bcs he has to work early in the morning, but that he doesnt want this btw them to be just a one-night stand. This is a serious thing.

The next day they are both called on the scene of another arson, this time there were 2 ppl who died. While exploring the crime scene Liam finds an ebonwing's scale and now he is really sure that his old enemy is back. He takes the scale and leaves the scene.

That same night Shane asks him to come to his apartment. Liam knows that this isnt a good idea, but his dragon and his heart want to be with Shane, and for the human is the same. They have sex again and this time without a condom and Liam claims him with a bite.

When Shanes wakes up some hours later, Liam decides that this is the best time to explain all to him, but we soon understand that Shane already found out about many things, thanks to his dreams. When Shane explains to him that he is seeing Wilhelm's memories, Liam is shocked and the best thing he can think about is leave.

Shane is pissed, Liam just told him he could be pregnant and then left him alone. He doesnt have much time to think about this, bcs the sheriff calls him and tells him that there are news on the case. Liam is the suspect. On the security camera of the last case, they can see him taking something from the scene and never putting it back.

Meanwhile Liam is feeling guilty for leaving Shane like that. He needs to apologize and so decides to go to Shane. When the human sees him he is surprised. Shane explains to him what happened and Liam starts telling him about his past. Shane puts an hand on his arm to confort him and suddenly he is able to see his memories and Wilhelm's death. Liam tells him that he thinks Anton is back and he will start hunting down the ppl he cares about. Shane tells him that he thinks he is pregnant. They are both happy about this, they want this family, their family. They are still talking about this, when Liam senses another dragon coming their way. They get in the car and start driving out of the city.

Liam calls his friend and tells them what is happening. The battle takes place some miles out of the city. Anton is strong and is able to badly hurt some of the other dragons, but Liam's desire to keep safe his family is stronger and he is able to kill him (again).

All ends well, minus the fact that the Tv is now on the scene and the dragons shifters arent a secret anymore. Shane and Liam are kissing when Shane's oldest brother, a cop called on the scene, calls is name. Now he doesnt need anymore to think about how to tell his family he is gay.

3 years later, in the epilogue, we see that Liam and Shane got married, and had a beautiful baby girl named Care. She is a dragon shifter and is really loved by her parents and her uncles, Ivan and Owen. Most of Shane's family still doesnt talk to him since they found out he is gay, but his oldest bother, the first one that saw he and Liam kiss, is now part of his new family and apologized for his initial behaviour.

This is what I was looking for at the time. But now it's a couple of days later and I'm trying to review it and I can't remember anything – great sign..
I preferred Specter's other Dragon Fated Mates series which I read a while back and can remember more details from.

Liked and disliked:
- Fated mates not immediately jumping into bed

Disliked:
- Shane's family has clearly had a lot of impact shaping him, his thoughts and his toxic masculinity but it's like popped there as an explanation and then the family is like completely disregarded
- Also I'd have hit on a guy wearing skinny jeans and a wife beater w/o a beer belly + unironically...
- the external conflict felt extremely forced
- it's not explained

Quote
"The beast inside of me wants to curl around this man, wrap him up and spit fire at anyone who dares hurt him. And then he wants to lock him away and fuck him for days on end, filling him with his seed until his belly grows round with child." (Loc 803)

NSFW infos:
- Guy who thought he was straight (russet hair, green eyes) (police officer)
- Dragon (pansexual? >6ft4) (arsonist detective, lol - they should have played more with this!)
- strict top/bottom dynamic
- surprise omega (like he didn't know he was one)

This was book 1 in the "Wildfire" series. This was a pretty good read from a author that I have read before. Ancient dragon shifter and arson investigator Liam Morgan has fought against his instincts to take a mate and sire a child for centuries, but now his dragon is fighting back. While working a new arson case he comes face to face with officer Shane McKenna who has a dragon tattoo. Shane is attracted Liam but he is not gay Shane is the youngest of six siblings his family isn't very nice to him. Shane begins having dreams about Liam and about his past. There were no real answers as to why Shane new he was connected to Liam's or why he could see Wilhiem and other things in Liam's past. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Liam struggled a little with accepting that Shane was his mate. Denying it wouldn't change the inevitable. The more we learned about Shane, we came to see that he was being prepared to. It only accept a dragon and pregnancy, but that he'd be the one giving birth.

Shane's family was simply pushy and awful to him. In the end, he was better off.

Lisa knew he had to accept his new reality quick, if it meant protecting his new family. Shane and their unborn, would come to mean so much more than Liam ever anticipated.

This is another one where I with there were half stars. This was a great story, but the ending felt rushed. I need more development of Anton in the "present" as a zombie dragon. How did he hide himself all this time? I suspected the police chief was actually Anton, but that never went anywhere. The dragon tattoo should have played a bigger role as well. It was acknowledged once and then never mentioned again. Why a dragon tattoo? Did Shane have dreams of dragons as a child?

so cute

This might count as a bit of a spoiler. Maybe.

It’s a very good story. I love the writing and the storyline. It’s nice action- and love scenes, and the romantic build up is also nice (It could do with a bit more action scenes).
If I would complain about anything it’s that like some more background story. What was the connection between Shane and Wilhelm? Who’s was the other dragons in the fight scene? Is Shane still a cop?

I would definitely give this world another read. I’m interested in what happens with Liam’s friends Owen and Ivan.

Great story, unworthy ending.....

What a great story this author provides, and then its all mucked up with a cop out of an ending, which could easily have been a good resolution to the story. Instead, the author chooses to do two epilogues, which left me feel wanting and the story stilted. Don't get me wrong, its a really good story, but its shattered by its ending. Sorry.

I’m not sure

I really liked the story but I feel like there was so much left unanswered and I’m not really a fan of the whole finding a mate but there’s no way for that mates lifespan to match like what would even be the point of living that long if ur always having to find a new mate that was disappointing
