Sam takes on an odd case: he's hired to track down a man who has been thought to be dead for more than forty years, but recently showed up alive to visit his dying mother. Now his daughter, who never even met him, wants to ask him where he's been all this time, and why she grew up without him in her life.
When that man turns out to be a former government assassin who's gone rogue, however, Sam decides it's time for him to bow out of the case--but then he learns that the one you think is the bad guy isn't always right. The supposedly rogue agent, it turns out, may actually be trying to save America from global Jihad. With everything from his family's safety to the future of America's Sovereignty on the line, Sam has to figure out who to trust and what to do, before it all blows up in his face.

David Archer was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. He is a fiction author and novelist, writing in the mysteries and thrillers genre. His approach to writing is to hit deep, keep you entertained, and leave you wanting MORE with every turn of the page. He writes mysteries, thrillers, and suspense novels, all of which are primed to get your heart pumping.
Part 1 & 2 felt like they should have been a single book. The separation of volumes felt like an artificial break rather than one dictated by the narrative. That continues to confuse me.
The book was on par with my expectations for the series so I was satisfied with the story overall. The serial killer was a little two-dimensional in that his motivations always seemed synthetic. Still, and entertaining listen.
As all in this series, Mr. Archer, has kept true to form. His language is clean. He's unashamed to speak freely about God. He keeps his characters fresh and loveable, okay the good ones that is, you truly don't like the bad guys. Great work.
This is part one of a three part series and I have to say I’m really happy that I have all three parts available to me so I can finish it when I’m ready. Which is probably going to be as soon as I finish this review…
I’ve enjoyed the same Prichard parks. The family life coupled with a relatively clean storyline that doesn’t have any descriptions of sex that I really don’t want to read about is rather refreshing. Plus there’s a really real plot going on which is kind of cool! OK but seriously the plot line is very interesting and involves a lot of politics and intrigue just as some of the previous books have. It’s one of those things that you follow along with and you don’t necessarily try to get ahead of because you probably aren’t going to get anywhere with that anyway.
I have to say though the constant echo of “I have a small job for you oh wait no it’s a big job oh wait no it’s actually a huge job they could endanger your life and the lives of your family“ seems to be the way all of the books start. But it’s not such a bad thing because how else are they going to get a small private eye business consisting of a husband and wife involved in cases of intrigue without that sort of a plat device. It’s a fine and predictable way to start out every story but it seems to change relatively quickly as soon as the book picks up and that’s good.
All this to say that I really enjoy the books and the plots are really fun to follow for the most part and I like the family friendly sort of thing while still having an exciting plot. It’s interesting the way this book dives into Christian prophecy without really being a Christian book. I kind of like that because you’re not getting beat over the head with the faith thing but yet you’re still getting some exposure to it.
She finds out her father is alive and wants answers of why he didn’t want anything to do with her. Was he an agent that went rogue or did it have something connected to a bigger case of American being taken over. He’s on the top wanted list, dropping in now and then to see his mother and brother. For his daughter a fifteen minute phone call precisely at 6 pm. Harry from .homeland Security wants Sam to run away from the case, but will .Sam do it.
Can't put this book down. Fiction that walks a fine line to the probable truth for our future in this global world. David Archer weaves a tale of intrigue, murder, crime, politics, manipulation, love, heros unsung, and interpreting prophecies. It is brain stimulating, heart pounding, and down right scary to absorb. Worth your time and attention to read and learn, then act on what you believe!
Again a very good read from author, David Archer. Getting into some Biblical prophecy in this one and without a doubt, some in higher government echelons are going for the high positions in a new world order. But others want to stop those people. Now I've got to read the next book to see who is winning. And to think, some in government today could be in that hunt.
Sam Prichard has an amazing insight into the criminal mind. His rapid reflexes and agile mind raise the story lines to new heights. However even Sam is blindsided by both plot twists and the degree of corruption his adversaries bring to the confrontations . As always Sam Prichard never dissappoints.
I am enjoying David Archer's books a lot. I like that he is putting in some spiritual views about God. Making the book a good thriller mystery but still putting God in the mix. Sam sets a good example of a good husband and father seeking the right way in life. God and family is a great bond in our lives and we are losing a lot of it, in this day and time.
In this latest book Sam is hired by a woman to find her dad and have him talk to her. The dad was assumed MIA in 1969 Vietnam. In reality he was hired by the CIA to become an Assassin. Interesting storyline about the CIA , " One World Government " and The Anti Christ.
This Author has a GOLDEN PEN!! This suites would make a GREAT one of those made by Amazon series! The story just gets better and better. The action, suspense, intrigue, along with the characters and wording, this would be an instant HIT. COME ON AMAZON DO THIS!
Sam is hired to find a father who served during Vietnam. The man is in deep cover and has convinced Sam they should work together. Harry Winslow agrees and now Sam and Ken are on their way to DC.
I did not like the idea that the first part of Drifter just stopped and was going to be picked up in the second book. All of the other books ended and a new story began with the next book.
The bible tells of a time of the anti Christ and in this book of the series that David Archer has written we see it starting. The main character has to find a way to stop this. Read!
A young woman wants to meet her father face to face to ask why he never returned home from Vietnam. Beauregard warns Sam that what is supposed to be evil may not be. Sam is drawn into a world worthy of a Mission Impossible script.
I love the direction this book is heading! Conspiracy theories and biblical prophesy! ugh! I cannot WAIT until part two comes out. I'm desperate to see if everyone survives this interesting turn of events.
Once again, I urge you to read this series , can't wait for the next one. And by the way, as you read, be sure to click and listen to the songs. They are beautiful.
There is a lot of unnecessary waffling in the book. I have tried a few of his books but I am giving up. The writing style makes me feel like I am reading an Enid Brighton novel, the Famous Five.
