Good Story, Great Ending

How many romance books have over-the-top sex scenes of all encompassing ecstasy? And endings that resolve everything, HEA! He is a football hero! She is a brilliant nerd with a ffiend/roommate who gets our gal into sexy clothes and makeup so she's a heartstopper! In contrast, this book has fulfilling "comfortable" sex and a future of uncertainties. But we've watched our main characters grow and the bond between them gradually strengthen so we know they're in this together and any uncertainties can be resolved. This book earned 4 stars, in spite of a bit of a silly plot, because the characters matured, as did their relationship, and the sex scenes were more realistic than fantasyland.

Had promise but inconsistent

I had a whole lot more problems with this book than the first one of the series. First of all, star football layer's girlfriend is missing... But except for him stating that he was not in a good place, it was really hard to feel his emotions. Second, the Chem geek has been kidnapped and you get to see her point of view... Yet it was hard to feel her fear or pain, especially when the author forgets all of her injuries... Like being stabbed. No where is there indication that her stab wound had been treated in anyway... Even to just stem the flow of blood. Another is that later in the novel, they say "I love you," which is supposed to be the first time, except that they said that earlier in this book and I think also in the first one. So there are some inconsistencies. Like the first book, there was absolutely no development of character or character relationship between the kidnapper and the main characters, which seemed pretty important (without giving away who the kidnapper is). This probably should have happened in first book. Except for one scene that may have hinted at a relationship, even that scene was just blah. Again, the novel did not really capture my emotions. I felt like I was doing more work trying to understand the characters rather than the author pulling my emotions.
