One Minute Past Christmas: An Appalachian Christmas Short Story

Rate this book
One Minute Past Christmas is the story of a Greenbrier County, West Virginia, family in which a grandfather and his granddaughter share a special ability -- they call it a gift -- that enables them to briefly witness each year a miraculous gathering in the sky. What they see begins at precisely one minute past Christmas and fills them with as much relief as it does wonder. But they worry that the "gift" -- which they cannot reveal to anyone else -- will die with them because it has been passed to no other relative for forty-four years.

“Christmas is a season not only of rejoicing but of reflection.” Winston Churchill

I could not get into this story. Maybe I was tired, or for whatever reason… I need to look at this later. Maybe closer to Christmas it will click. Of the 12 reviews on Amazon, 92% were 5-stars and 8% were 4-stars. So obviously, something was wrong with me. I will refrain from reviewing at this time and will read this again.

This is a short-short story that can be read in about thirty minutes. It is a multi-generational Christmas story about family traditions. An old journal was found in a box in the attic and shared between a grandmother and granddaughter.

Christmas Novella

Wow what a wonderful feel good Christmas story! My first impression is that I would love to read this story to my grandchildren and I think it would be a great story to read to your children on Christmas Day! It is short enough to read in one day.

The story is about one families gift that only gets passed on every once in a while. The family business is growing and selling trees. Specifically Christmas trees and a miracle that happens one minute passed midnight. A definite must read for the season and I believe it will become a yearly event.

I won this book and am giving it an Honest review.

This is a very sweet story of innocence and childhood. There are several formatting errors which detract from the reading, but it is worth the cost for this lovely short story.

A feel good Christmas story. It’s magical and restores that child-like innocence even in the adults. I have to say, I will never look at another star in the same way, especially on Christmas Day.
This short story was a free download for my Kindle. Found it when I was searching for free Christmas books.
