The untimely death of an elderly scientist results in an unexpected inheritance for Cyrus Cooper. Cyrus, still trying to find his identity after leaving the Coalition, is at first reluctant to accept the lofty windfall—a mountain retreat bequeathed to him by a man he hardly knew. He quickly finds that he has no choice. His first night there, hidden truths begin revealing themselves, pulling him into a conspiracy with vast and dire consequences. Discovering that the late scientist had devised a new technology—one that has been forever classified as science “fiction”—Cyrus is suddenly immersed in a realm that even he finds difficult to believe.

The events surrounding the scientist’s death become eerily suspicious, forcing Cyrus to investigate. It stands to reason; if his work was legit and this new technology on the level, every nation on the planet would kill to possess it. Once in hand, the purveyor would wield a truly revolutionary weapon.

Because of this mystery, Cyrus Cooper is forced once more into a life that he’d forsaken, tasked with his most impossible and dangerous mission to date. To secure the old man’s crowning achievement, he must first uncover the truth behind his death. And, in doing so, expose a much larger conspiracy that has been in motion since the beginning of the 20th-Century.

Will sedition and vengeance prevail, or will Cyrus Cooper stop the scheme before a nightmare is unleashed?

After a career spent in the realm of computer programming, much of Xander Weaver's early work focused on the development of custom online shopping systems. An accomplished web developer with more than fifteen years of experience, his childhood dream remained the same: to become an author and take readers on thrilling adventures. His love and passion for technology are often found at the heart of his books, because, as he professes, "I write the kind of stories that I love to read."

Xander now lives in Northern Illinois with his wife and overindulged turtle. Having come full circle, their home is just a few short miles away from where Xander grew up--the home where his imagination began to shine.

This is the 4th book in the series. I found it to have a very different tone and feel but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Cyrus is a little older now, a bit more mysterious and I'm hooked. Halon-Seven has me eagerly anticipating the next in the series!

I have over 600 books so when I say Halon-Seven is in my top five that means something! The first two chapters are incredible. There are individual parts of the book that are brilliant (such as the interrogation scene). What makes this book so great? First of all our hero, Cyrus Cooper, is a very well rounded and thought out character who uses his mind more than his gun. Second, the secondary players in this book pull their own weight. The Russian bad guy has a good backstory, he is not some ex-millitary muscle man who shoots everyone and says "Da" all the time. And third is the science in the book. With all works of fiction you have to believe the leaps that science can achieve. Most books string together a few dozen scientific words in hopes they can fool you into believing what you are told. In this book the science seems legit and is presented in a way that is believable and understandable. The ending of this book made me so hungry for the next chapter in this saga.

In this wonderful new book,Cyrus Cooper is given an amazing home and all that goes with it as an inheritance from a friend. Little does he know a mind blowing technology is waiting for him in the house as well. What is Halon Seven and what amazing things can do that so many would kill to get it. This is the best Cyrus ever!

Exciting adventure

Wow! This story was intriguing from the first page. Now I have to go read the former books in the series while waiting for the next one. I like thrillers even more with a hint of science fiction.

I was going to rate this a 3 until I got to the ending. The story was good but not a lot of action, but the ending was unexpected and fantastical!

Cyrus Cooper has left The Coalition and become a writer and journalist, and just when he is settling into a normal life, the death of a friend turns his world upside down. Cyrus is back, using his training and intuition to defeat those that would use a brilliant scientific discovery for their own gain.

I highly recommend Halon Seven if you love a well written thriller with a plausible plot. To understand Cyrus, it helps to read the three previous books in the series, but this stands on it's own merit. Wow! I loved it!
