Beyond the glowing forests of Sanctuary, the world has been ravaged by a corruption known only as the Darkness. Those that have survived are those blessed with the power of the mind. Known as the Bonded, they alone have the power to push back against the corruption and reclaim the world for their kind.

As Kirheen comes of age, she is put through a ritual that will make her one of the Bonded. Matched with a young man named Garild, they are sworn to dedicate their lives and minds to each other, to strengthen their powers so they can join the fight against the Darkness. But as Kirheen begins to realize what that dedication will cost her, she yearns for the freedom to make her own choices, to experience a life that is more than fighting for a cause she doesn't believe in.

It is that yearning that makes her question her life in Sanctuary, and as she learns more about her powers, she begins to wonder if the Darkness is truly as dangerous as they say, or if it even exists at all.

The storyline itself had a lot of potential. The ideas and overall world building was intriguing. I think where it lacked for me was the writing style. The character relationships and how they thought all seemed rushed and not fully explained at times. It felt like it wasn’t completed in some parts with how quickly moods changed and how the main characters talked. The dialogue just seemed forced.

Overall, not bad, but definitely had room for improvement.

A great story from a new author

A very fresh take on fantasy that introduces readers to a new world and a fresh dynamic with a strong heroin.

I purchased this book on my kindle after reading reviews and I am so glad I did. It's hard to imagine this is a first time author as the book is well written, easy to follow and so descriptive that I literally could see the world she had created. I urge anyone who wants to read a fantasy that will have you laughing, crying and have your heart pumping to read this fantastic novel.
