THis was the first book I ever read completely on my own. For years afterward I always had the fondest memory of this book. It offered me a feeling of true independence because I didn't have to depend on anyone else reading to me anymore. The story is about Barney the Beagle and how he is the last of the pets to be adopted. As ana adoptee I guess I related to Barney. Happy endings all around!
This was my favorite book as a young kid, and I believe it’s what made me fall in love with beagles. Fast forward to my twenties, and I’ve now got my very own. He wasn’t the last dog in a pet store, but he was the most returned at the shelter and was there the longest. He reminded me so much of this book, and we had such a deep connection, I had to be his person. Now he’s the best dog I’ve ever had, and I’ll never let him go.
Thanks book, for inadvertently giving me my Nugget.
The first ever book I read in English. I was around seven years old and recently came from Bolivia. I loved this story. Made me real sad at the beggining, which makes the end much sweeter. This book also helped me learn on how to have empathy for our little furry freinds. I love animals and the kids name was also Alan! One book I will NEVER forget.
Live laugh love Barney Beagle. The book that started my obsession with Beagles which quickly turned into a Snoopy obsession and now Snoopy is the only animated character I would consider getting tattooed on my body
Barney Beagle lived in a pet shop window. Every day he waited and wished for someone to choose him. People would stop and look at him in the window, and he would always ask himself, "Is this my boy? Is this the boy for me?" But the shoppers would always choose someone else.
When I was a little girl, my grandparents had this book at their house, and I loved it. Wish I had a copy today. My favorite part was the way you could guess which dog the window-shoppper was going to choose by the way he looked--they each looked just like one of the pups for sale.
This was my favorite childhood book. I just found it while sorting through old photos and memorabilia. I loved the story of BB, and his new home. I logged on to see if I can find a copy for my grand niece. Still can't part w the original!
It popped into my head today and I hope that I will run across it one day in my garage some day. One of my favorites as a kid. Barney was a puppy in a petshop window waiting for his special boy to find him. I loved how the people and their pets looked alike
