The "Roman Club," a school group interested in the occult, to which he's practically enslaved, has become boring for one Hideo Aiba. Until a girl named Kurumi Sahana shows up and wants to join up. But Sahana is no ordinary girl... When the two are left alone in the club classroom, Kurumi makes a special "request" of Hideo... From that moment on, Hideo's dull life gets far more...frustrating.

Sundome (s00n-do-meh) is an ecchi seinen manga that, aside from tons of panchira, hard-ons and breasts (pardon my language), is a school life story about a "relationship" between Hideo Aiba and Kurumi Sahana, both members of the Roman club, a group which has a penchant for knowing occult stuff.

This is a blue balls manga. In its erotic scenes, Sundome raises the sexual intensity up until the point of, you know, "release". It plays on the readers' inherent interest to perversions and sexual fetishes without the actual coitus itself (at least for the first volume). It fills most of its pages with gratuitous sexual titillation without going all the way. So if you are not really into such things, then I advise you not to read Sundome.

To be fair for it's slice-of-life aspect, Sundome volume one is actually funny. It really does have that shounen appeal. Yet almost every joke or situation is tagged with an explicitly perverted theme and offensive sexual objectification.

If you are curious, then go and grab a copy of Sundome volume 1. Otherwise, let this be a fair warning on what you will see inside.

This is a seinan ecchi-type manga for those who can't tell from the cover alone. My female friend bought me the first two volumes without even knowing what it was about. Located in the hentai section, shrink-wrapped, and without a synopsis on the back... I guess you can say, she was somehow moved by the sensual image of Kurumi on the cover.

I'm a male in my mid 20's and I was not prepared for this manga at all. I expected all the lewd ecchi-ness, but this story is incredible. If you've read only the first volume and felt nothing, I definitely understand. The setup is simply weird and unrealistic making it light and easy to enjoy (or drop). However, Okada purposefully does this so that he can take you on an unexpected, emotional roller-coaster.

I gave this series 5 stars in hopes that more young adults read this hidden gem. Sundome lays in purgatory with all the ecchi seinan inside the hentai section, where you will never probably look because of embarrassment. Don't let that stop you from picking this up locally.

When reading slice of life shojo/ shonen manga, there's a sense of unreality. As we grow past our high school years, these transplanted romances feel more unreal everyday. Seinan manga definitely conveys reality (better) and the human condition because authors aren't afraid to push boundaries and "tell it like it is." Most guys given the chance to have sexual encounters with a girl will have it. When's the last time you picked up a non-hentai manga and found the male protagonist not so "*ussified".

If you're a straight male, whatever age you are, you will find aspects of Hideo to relate. He knows what he wants but he's scared to take. He'll do whatever it takes to get what he wants but is optimistically cautious. He's scared because he might lose something he doesn't believe he has yet. These uncertainties make Hideo real. You may not agree with the direction and actions he takes, but you will find his character very compelling.

Oh, and Sundome has tons of pantsu action, fan-service galore and banter you will only find in your inner circle of friends.

READ IT. READ IT ALL. DON'T STOP UNTIL VOL. 8!

I was looking for a horror manga, but I wanted a really gory one. So I went to my good friend The Googles and typed in "most disgusting manga". That took me to a message board where someone mentioned this series. So, not knowing anything else about it, I picked this up and read it.

It turns out that this is NOT a horror series. Is it disgusting? Well, maybe if you have a mild constitution.

Basically, it is about this shy kid who falls in love with the new transfer student. They immediately begin something of a sadomasochistic relationship where she humiliates the crap out of him and blue balls him at every turn (Sundome means "stopping the moment before") and he loves every minute of it.

And if you have a very juvenile sense of humor (like me!) you will probably like it. I was laughing my ass off the whole time I was reading this and will definitely be picking up volume 2. But, let me repeat, this book is nothing but VERY raunchy humor and will not be to everyone's tastes.

....Wtf is wrong with people.....

It's basically a disgusting story about a horny teenager willing to jack off in a movie theater. Ew.

I'm not going to rate this.

It has a great story, but it's otherwise pretty disturbing. From one POV it's a classic sexual-perversions-demonstrated book, from another it's just a good love story.

It's not fully released yet in English, so I haven't finished it, but when you live through the overly-sexual stuff it's pretty nice.

Caution: Might be too graphic for some tastes, and it might be considered paedophillic by a lot of people. It would be considered also perverted by most people not living in Japan, too...

And, to be completely honest, I started reading this because of the cover.

Wow, I thought Highschool of the Dead or Triage X had a lot of Ecchi elements to it, but this takes the cake!
Really sexual, but the story has a deeper meaning than that, and is painfully obvious at the end.

I want to give this series a higher rating, but I'm honestly still undecided. I'll have to go through the remaining volumes.

I really liked this manga series. Yes it is very sexual and explores dark areas of sexuality, but that is the point...exploring sexuality. While offering fan fare and very minor nudity it also brought an interesting story of growth. There was also quite a bit of humor through out and some dark moments as well. I highly recommend this to anyone with an open mind.
BTW there is NOTHING wrong with being a pervert...however, there's a time and a place.

Abstenerse gente pudorosora.

This was not for me. I guess I'm at least 30 years too old to find it interesting or funny. My bad.

Meh...

Нарвавшись на каком-то там англоязычном форуме на дискуссию о концовке, предположил, что это что-то запутанное и по-хорошему странное.

Нет.

There's some typical manga moments in this volume. It's the things I always find annoying: exaggerated emotions, puerile behavior, sketchy artwork in one panel, then photo-realism in the next. It's as inconsistent as the worst manga I've read. The things that stand out are the almost pornographic scene in each chapter and the effective manipulation of an inexperienced boy searching for romance by a clever girl whose ultimate goal is still a mystery. So it's effectively a romance manga, but it probably features more nipples, fetishes and panty shots.

The female lead is a sadistic tease for the male lead who is smitten with her from the get go. Other boys also want her affection and she seems more open to them than to Hideo. Still, their relationship is a special one where she forces him to push himself phisically and mentally. He must prove himself worthy of her while she gives him some pretty sexy encouragements.

Kurumi Sahana is the new girl in class. She immediately becomes Hideo Aiba's crush, even though he is sworn to remain a virgin because of his membership in the geeky Roman Club. A nip slip, light genital massaging and panty flash later she asks to join the Roman Club. She is fascinated by a book that details various jerk-off techniques. He becomes her sexual slave and hopes to get close to her, even though she clearly states she will never have sex with him.

I read this online so I'm not sure where different volumes start and finish. So this is a review of the manga as a whole (will keep it spoiler free though ).

It is a hard to recommend book but one that I thoroughly enjoyed. It is some sort of coming of age story heavily revolving around sex. And while a lot of it is played for gags it has the potential of making a lot of people uncomfortable. To be fair, I probably would have been uncomfortable if the first time I read it had been recently as a grown ass man.

The story starts with a group of pervert male high-schoolers. In a club for which they have sworn to uphold their virginity. And then a girl enters the picture. This could be the setting for a joke or for a porno. Sundome is neither. Do not get me wrong it has plenty of jokes and a lot of scenes that are quite close to kinky softcore porn (if that is even a thing), but it manages to transcend that. By the end of it is an interesting exploration of teenage love, friendship and what growing up. All the kinks, ghosts and aliens are there just to set the stage an lighten what without it would be a much darker and heavy story.

I feel weird saying this but this series is one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever read. Period. Everyone describes this as a romance manga, but I really don’t feel that way. It reeks of abuse, manipulation, domination, grooming, and desperation. I am only saying that not to be dramatic, but if you have ever been in a relationship like this, it’s not fun. It screws you up, a lot. If the genders were reversed, people wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss it as something cutesy and to gawk at and in some cases, wish for. Maybe I am only seeing what I want to see in this, but after reading the entire series though, I had to go take a shower to scrub the metaphorical filth off. Twice. Unfortunately for my psyche, I like things that make me feel that way, so I’m giving it five stars. All eight books sit on my shelf, and will never be read again. Yet, I can’t bring myself to get rid of them. Bravo for making me feel so damn conflicted.

I like the idea of a story that explores kinks and fetishes in a way that doesn't shame the people but I have to admit that I think its supposed to be more titillating than a social remark against kink shaming. That said at the very least its one of the few manga I've read where the female is also interested and a "perv" instead of just the recieving end of male oriented fetishes. She's in control and I like that aspect, then considering her illness causing her sexual freedom it makes an interesting and sad story.

What I don't like is that the side characters are bland and I don't like the comical wacky art that's just exaggerated facial expressions. I also admit that there's some very cringe worthy scenes.

8/10 purely because the book actually did keep my interest.. this book has a lot of distasteful references to erections starting from the first page, ruining an otherwise good story. I found this book after I searched for romance books with strong female characters and submissive men, not sure I quite found that… also, the female love interest doesn’t have to be that skinny.. the author clearly has a thing for underdeveloped women or something else.. this book just might raise your confidence if youre small chested.. lol (anticlimactic ending)

So far, this is better than I expected. It seems to be primarily about the developing relationship between Hideo Aiba and Kurumi Sahana with no hints that it will evolve to become a harem manga. There are other characters but they seem to be there to provide comic relief (though they are not that funny).

The Explicit Content label on the cover is not lying!

A seinen ecchi series that is not for everyone. Recommended for those who enjoy femdom & orgasm denial. I enjoyed the series overall but removed a star for the ending.
