I'm no trail runner (yet), but this is a VERY thorough exploration of the topic - from techniques for various terrains to tool/shoe choice and beyond. There are examinations of common running injuries, even. I loved that the authors included a portion devoted to taking care of our trails & environment as well as advice on fuel/hydration and shoe lacing. There are a lot of issues covered here that one forgets about until too late, usually! Overall, this seems like it'll be a resource I come back to when I get ready for my first trail race.
This describes a level of trail running I don’t think I aspire to (more for the ultra crowd than the weekend warrior) but if you do, it’s very informative!

Независимо от това, че на някои места имаше твърде много детайли (например снимка, илюстрираща различни подходи за прескачане на паднал на пътеката дънер), авторите са се постарали да систематизират опита на много известни професионални 'трейл' бегачи и да го предадат на начинаещите любители. Според мен, най-голямото предимство на книгата е достъпният начин, по който са обяснени различните тренировъчни методи. Препоръките за изграждане на тренировъчен план, базиран на идеята за "периодизация" и разделен на различни "фази" в зависимост от момента на самото състезание, също заслужават висока оценка. Като недостатък мога да посоча недостатъчното внимание, посветено на въпросите за храненето по време на тренировъчния режим и за т.нар. "cross-training" - тренировките, различни от бягане. Въпреки това, книгата заслужава много висока оценка.
7/10. Libro interesante para los amantes del Trail Running o personas interesadas en dicha disciplina. Si bien en ocasiones se comentan obviedades, la estructura del mismo y los temas a tratar lo convierten en una lectura amena y motivadora.
Creo que es un libro que podría haber sido más corto. No está mal para reforzar algunos conceptos e inspirarse, pero no lo terminé disfrutando tanto. Algunas secciones son demasiado simples y no aportan lo suficiente. Sin embargo, algunos datos sobre los alimentos sí me fueron de utilidad.
📚 “Where the road ends: a guide to trail running” (Hicks and Powell) is another great TR book with lots of advice and pictures that make me want to travel to trail run. Highly recommend
Covers everything to know about trail running. Some of it is very basic knowledge but also some more advanced things. Something for everyone interested in trail running. I found it a little too repetitive in the terrain section - that area could have been a bit more compressed.
Longer than it needed to be with some common things on being in the woods and navigating thrown in. A fair deal of general running knowledge. Would have preferred more focus on trail running.
