Tyler Huntington is smart, good looking, athletic, and genuinely a sweet guy. He's the perfect catch for the right girl--that is, when he's able to find the one who can deal with his arsenal of dark secrets. Jayden Adams seems to be that girl. Ty's involvement with a notorious crime family has temporarily lessened, allowing him to finally fall in love with the girl of his dreams. But secrets have a way of coming out, and the better Ty's life is with Jayden, the more he has to lose. When his crime family finds out who her father is, the stakes are even higher. Ty has to protect her very life, and his past once again rips happiness from his grasp. Jayden isn't about to go down without a fight, and while Ty is discovering more secrets that will change his life forever, Jayden is putting together her own plan of attack. Ty is constantly stuck in a hotbox, not knowing which figurative base he should make a run for. His past has already kept him from playing professional baseball, but can he keep it from destroying the happiness he's found with Jayden?

Writer of sweet romances, cute love stories, happily ever after, etc, whatever you'd like to call it!

Inspiration comes in many forms, from raising a family to the amazing people I've come across in my life. I love to involve myself in charities, local and abroad, and I've witnessed an array of miracles upon doing so. I'm curious by nature and never stop learning. If someone asks me a question I cannot answer, I'll research it until I can!

I'm thankful for my friends and family-- they always amaze me. I'm especially grateful that they allow me the opportunity to put my thoughts into stories that others can read and (hopefully) enjoy!

Thanks for taking the time to check out my work. I appreciate your feedback.

So, I have mixed feelings about this book. I was soooo looking forward to reading it because I absolutely adored the other two books I had read of Delia's, but you can't always like them all right? Just like how not all HP fans are fans of Rowling's latest book (although that is an extreme example since HP and The Casual Vacancy are targeted for two completely different audiences, but you get my drift). I'm not trying to say this book is bad, it just was not exactly my cup of tea.

Firstly, this book is narrated in first person from a male's point of view, Tyler's. Now I have no problems with reading books from a guy's P.O.V. but I admit it was weird at times to imagine a guy thinking or saying some of the things that Tyler did. Since I'm a girl I really have no idea what goes on in a guy's mind. Maybe they really can be that thoughtful and think and say things like Tyler did, but from my perspective on the male gender it was difficult for me to believe sometimes. And I am not saying that guys cannot be thoughtful, I just mean that Tyler seemed a little girly to me at times, like the things he said or thought were things I could only imagine coming from a girl.

Anyways, enough about narration. The plot. The first half of the book was completely different from the second half of the book. There was actually a point where I stopped reading for a second just to backtrack and try to figure out how I had gone from one plot to what felt like a whole different plot. It was like the whole relationship plot line between Tyler and Jayden fell apart (it was just put on the back burner I guess) and I just wasn't really feeling it. It was probably because I picked up the book expecting it to be all about baseball and romance when it was really more about the tangled web of the mafia. It's my own fault really for setting myself up with false expectations since I rarely ever read the book descriptions for a book I'm going to read. (I always read them afterward because I don't want the description to give away any spoilers about the book).

I don't regret reading the book at all, I really did enjoy parts of it, but I know there are other books out there that I would rather read than this one. I suggest reading Summer Swing or Love Today by Delaney first because they are fabulous books and I totally loved them and then if you want to give Hotbox a go you can. Don't let my mediocre feelings about this book deter you from reading Delaney's other books because I certainly will not be deterred from picking up and reading all her other books.
