Good, quick but heartwarming messages. Nice to learn more about Genesis and Abraham. Insightful! I felt reflective and more at peace while reading the daily devotions.
The more we dig deep in to the Old Testament the more we realize that there is tremendous history in the Bible and that history has very much to do with who we are right now.
In the book, “Climbing with Abraham” by David Ramos, the author delves deep in to the book of Genesis and walks us through the life of Abraham, to help “Grow your faith, build your life, and discover God’s calling”
The book is spread out as 30 individual devotionals and ideal if you want to do a month long study on the character and life of Abraham. Since the 15 chapters are neatly broken down into its own little sections and blow up, we not only see the Abraham we know, trusting and obeying God, but this enables us to glean larger than life truths from within the day to day life of this ordinary man named Abraham.
The devotionals focus on building a life of faith and trust in God and provides takeaways and prayers that really convicts you to make a decision for Him in your life each day!
This is a great book to be read over 30 days, reading one devotional per day. I enjoyed the "takeaway" and "prayer" portion at the end of each day's reading.
I like the title of the book, which resonates with the content. While reading I felt that I was on a journey with Abraham. As a prophet, I like how Abraham is universally revered by the monotheistic faiths.
One of the themes that resonated with me was that we are all part of a story that extends beyond us. The story we create with God in the here and now will have ripple effects on future generations. This reminds me of a quote by Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heshel: "Nothing worth building can be built in a single generation."
Ramos is a young author who is wise beyond his years.

Imagine the faith it must have taken to climb a mountain, knowing that the summit was where you would destroy the object of God's promise to you. This is just one of the stories from the life of Abraham that author, David Ramos uses as an example for us to follow as we learn about how to develop big faith in our own lives. Ramos is a gifted weaver of tapestries made of words. He uses these vignettes from the book Genesis to help us understand how Abraham became the father of the faithful, and how we can apply these principles to our own walk of faith. I look forward to more from this writer and his fresh perspective on the beloved characters of the old testament.
This is an excellent overview of Abraham's life in 30 daily devotionals. David Ramos uses each essay to show how lessons from Abraham's life apply to children of faith (us) in our daily walk with God.
(Usually, I prefer to email the author directly about problems/errors in his/her books, but I did not see a "Contact" option on Mr. Ramos' website. So here are the errors I found in the Kindle text of this book:

Solid 4 stars. Climbing with Abraham by David Ramos brings the life of Abraham to study. Ramos expertly weaves the faith and challenges Abraham experienced into a 30 day devotional chock full of real life applications. Each day offers a Bible reading about Abraham followed by a short devotion and takeaway. The Old Testament is a struggle for many people who feel it has no real world application to the life of a modern Christian. Ramos shows the Old Testament is something to be read, absorbed and applied to everyday life. I look forward to reading more of his books.
I have always been fascinated with Abraham's great faith in God. As a young Christian it was hard for me to understand why God would tell this man to sacrifice the son he desired all his life? I have come to understand so much better at a later time in my walk. This was enjoyable as David Ramos took the accounts of Abraham from the Book of Genesis and put it in a brief study and point out that Abraham was just an ordinary man who placed his complete trust in his God who proved over and over that He is faithful.
This was a whole new perspective on an ancient story, which I know by heart. Ramos managed to show a modern and practical perspective on the impressive story of Abraham, a man who abandons everything and leaves his life in Gods hands. Very inspirational and it comforted me while reading it. I hardly do it, but this time I regularly wrote down parts he had written and shared it with others. I look forward to reading more of this author!
i loved this book, very informative, made me want to read Genesis again, which is the book I'm currently in almost done. Devotionals are great the smack you need the face with stories you have already read but maybe not payed that much attention to our thought about.
This devotional gives us clear insight on Abraham 's life. It denotes how God fulfilled promises and how it took faith on Abraham's part fur these to come to pass. It was also nice to see this old testament story told in a manner that was so understandable.
The way the author has written this is in short chapters to help you think about the main things he’s pointing out that Abraham had to do to help his faith. Things that you and I endure today. At the end of each chapter he makes a point of “what to take away” and a prayer to say to highlight the chapter
I don’t like devotionals because those tend to be very short and therefore you don’t get enough content to have an understanding of the principles. Anyway, this book has a couple of interesting epiphanies but it has the length of an ebook so bare in mind that when you start reading it.
Not only did I come back day after day to take this journey and be inspired, but I enjoyed the seven day introduction to the life of Jacob included as a bonus in the end. Thanks!
Thank you, this is an amazing book. I will refer to it often. I truly enjoyed reading 📚 this book. It is well written and engaging,I enjoyed reading about one of my favorite Bible personalities and seeing their lives from a different perspective.Thank you again
Following the story of Abraham, you are brought face to face with his humanity as well as his faith. Well written as a devotional, you will come away with a better understanding of both Abraham and yourself. A good spiritual guide.
Pleasantly surprised by Ramos' insight into the development of the patriarch's faith. The devotion guide format was genius. He said just enough to spawn thought but guided you to conclusions that are in the narrative of Abraham's life.
I really enjoyed this devotional written around the life of Abraham. The author took pieces of Abraham’s life to use as teachings for our everyday life. Highly recommend.
I enjoyed learning more about Abraham. The Book of Genesis is very eye opening. It all began with that Book. Reading a Devotional a Day lifts my spirits.
