Phoenix had lived for as long as man had walked the earth. He had seen his fair share of love and war and had been through every hardship that mankind had ever experienced. He lived in legends and myths, never truly opening himself up to anyone-until he met up with the Boston Vampire Clan. Together, they stopped an evil from enslaving mankind and in the process, Phoenix finally found a place he could call home. He had grown to accept the fact that he would never find a mate for himself in any species. Until he saw her. Kelly was the daughter of his best friend's wife. When he met her, feelings he never thought possible began to form within him and a fierce urge to protect her at all costs became his only mission in life. As the Dark Alliance sets up for their final attack, Phoenix isn't willing to sacrifice the lives of innocent people to win the battle. But when Kelly is put in danger, he will sacrifice all of mankind to save her.
I live in KY with my family. While I hold a "real job" my first love will always be writing. I enjoy lots of different kinds of books, and many different authors. Some of my favorites are, but not limited to, Sandra Hill, Lori Foster, Kelly Armstrong, Stephen King, James Patterson, J.R. Ward and Emma Holly. But I think I would read just about anything with a good plot.
The forbidden love series is absolutely amazing read. I was so happy to know there was a second series and couldn't wait to read them. Phoenix is my favorite character in this series. If you read the first series of Forbidden love then you know Phoenix was in there a little bit. I was intrigued with him right away. So when I was able to get this book I swear I hardly put it down. As usual Danielle James did it again and wrote another amazing book. Like all the books before this had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what would happen next. It had me laughing out loud as well as being in tears. So if you are checking out this review and have not read the previous books, I highly suggest you do.
Love forbidden? I don't think so. Nothing like a happy ending to make a romantic happy. Good wins over evil is what I like to see. I'd like to see more of this series.
now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book. i was hooked after the first page.
The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.
i would highly recommend this author and this book.
Everyone was been asking for Phoenix and Danielle James delivered! However, if you haven't read 'Spider Web' I would encourage you to do so. Although it can be read as a standalone, there are multiple references and spoilers to 'Spider Web'. So grab a copy and get introduced to the Boston Clan.
I absolutely have a soft spot for Phoenix. A one of a kind, the only one of his kind, and he had accepted his fate to never feel the bonds of love like many have found around him. What woman can resist a man who feels he can not be destined for another? Not me!
The thing with this series is that I read it and find a deeper purpose/meaning. There are some who surface read and feel that a book is completely insane and crazy. But if one searches and reads with the intent to find its meaning you will amazed and find yourself in awe of Danielle James work in Phoenix!
There are multiple emotions that will be brought forth. A Mother's protective nature and anger, humor and witty banter, love, and tears of heart ache! Written in the POV of Phoenix himself, you learn more about his past, his desires and will certainly wish you could touch him...just once...for research purposes of course *wink*
The action is amazing, the plot intriguing and the sea is HOT! I most certainly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for their next read!
Of course I loved it. It is about a Phoenix!! We met Phoenix in The Forbidden Love Series and I fell a little in love with him there. I just love when books are about an entire family and the members make appearances in all of the books. Phoenix feels lost because all of his friends and family are finding their mates, but he is the only Phoenix in existence. He has lived since time began and has never seen another of his kind. Then he meets Kelly and knows that she is his!! I laughed, I ugly cried (at least three times) and then I laughed some more. The ending is perfection and even though I wanted to kill the author for some of the "happenings", she redeemed herself with the end. 5 Stars!!
Danielle James delivers again with another hot and steamy romance. In Phoenix, the sparks fly. Literally.
I'm a huge fan of the Forbidden Love series and now the Boston Clan series. I would recommend reading Spider Web prior to Phoenix due to spoilers. Phoenix, the firebird of myth, is tasked with helping save mankind as he meets and falls for his mate, Kelly. The family element is warm and inviting, the sex scenes are hot, and just the right amount of humor is included. *The scene where they had to abandon the cabin had me snickering out loud.* High recommended!
Miss James has done it again. Another awesome story with believable characters in the PNR world. Phoenix has always been my favorite character and well, heck, if I couldn't have him for my own then his mate absolutely had to be Kelly. What a love story! Instant attraction, fight the desire, teasing and fun, tragedy and renewed hope. Bravo Danielle James for another fantastic story. I cannot wait for the next installment in the Forbidden Love series.
I just finished Spider Web and Phoenix in one day! Yes they are that good and thrilling. If you have not read the Forbidden Love series I think you should read Spider Web and Phoenix first. The reason being that most of the characters show up in the five books of the series and these two introduce them and once you start book one you know how they came to be. This entire group of books is really great. You won't be disappointed.
