I have always heard about Kalidas and his art of writing. I came across this book in a store and finished it in 2 days.
'Meghdoot' is actually a story written down in sanskrit. I read it in hindi, still its effect on me was long lasting. The best part about the story is the platform and the creativity of imagination, on which author sets his story.
The story is set in the city of Kuber where a Yaksha is discarded from the cities for failing his duties, under the influence of his wife. He is sent down to earth for 1 year away from his wife. One fine day he sees a traveling cloud. He sees this as an opportunity to interact with his wife. Hence starts his narration. He expresses his message and narrates the direction to his home. Cloud listens to him with patience.
The way path to the city is described by the author is breathtaking. He describes every thing in detail and with utmost perfection.
It is a lovely piece of literature created out of heart. It shows the imagination power of an author.
A must read for everyone who appreciates good literature.
