Riders of Paradesos #2

Warrior Everlasting

Rate this book
Fighting alongside the boy you shouldn't love is hard enough. Doing it while riding a unicorn who would gleefully fly to her death with you on her back is worse. What makes it insane? Doing it in hell. Scout and her unicorn, Ashra, risked everything just to make it into Aptavaras. Their plan is to free Scout’s family and the stolen souls, and seek vengeance on the man who took everything Ashra had once lived for. What they hadn’t counted on was Trey and his unicorn, Torz, following them. It might be the only thing that will save them. Because in Aptavaras, the soul stealers are many and the chances of survival are slim. Even if they can get past the demons, trick the demon master, rescue the souls and escape with their lives, there’s only one person who can open the gate, and he’s on the outside defend-ing the world. But Scout, Trey, Ashra and Torz have one thing the soul stealers don’t— A reason to live.

Love everything about this series! If you haven't read the first book, you should because this is a continuation of the events in book one, so give that a read first. Scout is a strong, intelligent lead character, and she will do anything to save her family and the other souls trapped in Aptavaras. Scout and her unicorn, Ashra, and Trey and his unicorn, Trez, have just landed in Aptavaras to help all the souls trapped in Aptavaras break free, and to defeat the soul stealers leader, Ariston, but the group will need to make it through a treacherous quest before they can help anyone. I love that Ariston is a villain with layers, it isn't just black and white when it comes to him. As Scout and company try to find their way through the dangerous lands of Aptavaras, Scout and Trey's relationship is in a place that is hurting them both, but although Scout forgives Trey for abandoning her, she isn't ready to be more than just friends with him, but Trey knows Scout is the one for him and will do what he can to show her how much she means to him. Their story is heartbreaking, and I love how determined Trey is to show Scout how much he loves her. I do think Trey needed to have a better conversation with his ex though, I feel he was insensitive towards his ex, and needed to be clearer to her. Scout and company have to fight many battles against soul stealers on their journey to Ariston's domain, and I absolutely love the battle scenes, and the connection Scout and Trey have with their unicorns, Ashra and Trez. I love that the unicorns play such a big roll in the story, and that each has their own personalities and complex histories. Definitely looking forward to the next book, and more by Wendy Knight! Epicness to be had!

First things first. There is one thing about this book I really don't like: it ended! :D
Seriously, I couldn't put it down and read it all in one day. I finished it right before bed and couldn't sleep because I kept wondering how the story will go on.
What I do like about this book is basically everything else. How Scout and Ashra really become a team. How none of them ever gives up.
I even like the villain. Like many people already said in their reviews, he isn't just some evil thing out to destroy everything good in the world(s). There is so much pain in him that you can't help but to feel sorry for him. I don't know how this series will end. And Ariston did a terrible thing, something unspeakably horrible. And still I hope that somehow he will find peace in the end.
We'll see :)
If you loved book one, you'll love this one, too. If you haven't read book one, go do so now! It's worth it, trust me :)

Talk about an action packed emotional thrill ride (with a bad guy that may not be so bad). This adventure just keeps getting better with every story added to the series. Be prepared for some twists that come out of nowhere. This edge of your seat ride through danger and struggle to save the world kept my attention for the entire book and did not let go, I just want more now so can not wait for the next visit to this magical world.

Oh my gosh I love this series so much!! Warrior Everlasting is so good, I didn't want to put it down. You have the same amazing characters as Warrior Beautiful but we are introduced to new and let's say, more damaged characters. The plot thickens, the battle intensifies and thousands of lives are on the line. Can Scout, Trey, Ashra and Torz save them all? Is their bond strong enough? Will sacrifices have to be made?

Warrior Everlasting will have you flipping through the pages like a horde of Soul Stealers on your tail, all the while you're experiencing ALL THE FEELS!

Iros is going to shut the gate to the demons lair trapping Scout's little sister and all the other souls that matter to them inside. So what a girl and her Unicorn to do but get inside before the gate goes up. Followed of course by Trey and his Unicorn.Scout unfortunately gets captured by the boss demon. She is still there when Iros breaks the gate and comes for her and Trey. She frees the souls and rides for freedom.
I could not put this book down, read it in one day. Now on to the next book.

Good

Their time in Aptavaras was interesting, to say the least.

Of course, Scout had to do everything herself and push everyone away. The constant back and forth with her and Trey was exhausting. She loved him. He loved her. It really shouldn't have been too hard to figure it out. Ask Ashra. I bet she'd give anything to be with her slain mate, and wouldn't waste time doing it either.

Ariston is just creepy. And her dancing "for him" felt intimately wrong.

Part two... To be continued

Another successful installment in Wendy Knight's Warriors of Paradesos. Yet there's more to come... The characters continue to grow, the action still grips you and now we have met pour villain and he is a sympathetic villain. My heart hurts for him and yet, he's still a villain. What happens next?

Book 2 riders of Paradesos

Again I love this series! Scout is a great leading lady. She has overcome many obstacles to save her family and friends. Again my only complaint with the series is that all the action scenes feel the same, battle scenes are a tad boring and I feel myself either wanting to put the book down or skip it completely

Just like the first book was enraptured from the first page. You will need a whole lot of tissues to get through it though.

*This book was received via the author in exchange for an honest review*
This is the second book in the Riders of Paradesos series by Wendy Knight and it was just as good as the first.
Scout and Ashra, Trey and Torz risk there lives by entering the underworld Aptavaras where Ariston has trapped all the souls of Scouts town in a cage and she rides in to rescue them. Her little sister Lil Bit is trapped their too with their parents and Treys family .
I found this one really enjoyable to read with following their journey through Aptavaras and their many battles with the soul stealers.
It did end on a cliff hanger so can’t wait to read what happens in the next instalment of this series by Wendy Knight.

In "Warrior Everlasting" the second book in "Riders of Paradesos" Scout, Trey and their battle unicorns Ashra and Torz risk their lives, entering Aptavaras to save all the souls including those of their families stolen by the Taraxippas and their Master. With Iros and Havik's closure of the gate to stop Ariston from sending his army of soul stealers to destroy the unicorn haven of Paradesos the chances of the heroes survival and a rescue are slim. Yet Scout's determination to find her parents and Lil Bit forces her into a reckless mission injuring the unicorns and trapping her in Ariston's black castle. Only with strength and hope ignited by Lil Bit, the encouragement of a new friend and the love and support of Ashra and Trey will Scout be able to escape Ariston's web of intrigue.

Fast-paced and action-packed, the plot heats up as the warriors human and unicorn face one confrontation after another with the soulless Taraxippas until Ariston creates more deadly creatures with the souls of those he's stolen. With surprising twists and turns as Ariston reveals the pain of his past that only Scout can soothe, and her friends search for a way to free her and the caged souls from his clutches the story keeps you on the edge of your seat. As events unfold the tale progresses quickly to a cliff-hanger that begs for third book and begins with a brutal fight, and a decision for Scout that could cost her more than she's willing to sacrifice.

Captivating and emotionally-charged Scout faces her feelings for Trey still not trusting, and hurting him when she draws away to protect her heart. Yet slowly as he continues to put his life on the line to save her she finally begins to admit how much she's always loved him. As their love deepens, Scout learns a shocking truth; Ariston is not the evil monster that she once thought and he cares for her. Suffering and wanting to die over the years as a result of his betrayal only Scout has been able to soothe Ariston's torment and he's determined to keep her with him.

In this sequel Scout continues to be haunted by feelings of abandonment holding a grudge against Trey and her parents, and obsessed with finding Lil Bit as she was the only one devoted to her in the hospital after the accident. She tends to be headstrong and impulsive, as well as bravely determined to free not only her family and Trey's but all the souls held prisoner. Trey is bitter and angry but continues to fight valiantly, struggling also to win Scout's trust and love again. I liked the fact that Trey finally took action, breaking up with his mean, overbearing and possessive girlfriend Kylin. Ashra having bonded with Scout can still be hard, mean and sarcastic, but loves her rider and will do anything to keep her safe while Lil Bit is the sweet, kind eleven year old with the heart of a warrior. Although all these characters developed further in this novel, it is Ariston that captured my interest. Skilfully Wendy Knight has created a complex character that is a tragic figure who made a wrong choice and is suffering the consequences rather than an totally evil villain, adding another dimension to this exciting tale.

I thoroughly enjoyed "Warrior Everlasting" as Wendy Knight builds imaginary worlds where unicorns and soul stealers battle for supremacy. I highly recommend it and will continue to follow Scout and Trey's ongoing adventure and romance.

The first book was great, it had me waiting on edge for this book. I had to know what happened next. Now that they are in Aptavaras they have so much more that they have to do, and they just came from a battle. It is nice to see Scout begin to heal. I enjoyed that.
You find out way more about Trey.
Ashra is amazing as always.
We already know all of this, I love all the characters BUT i fell in LOVE with a new one. Ariston. If you read the first book you know that Ariston is the big bad. He plans to take the souls his soul stealers have taken, rip them apart and build souls for his soul stealers to make an even more formidable army. Knowing that I should HATE him right? Wrong! I do not hate him,, I walked away from this book loving him. Wanting to help him. Read the book and you will find out why....

As always Wendy Knight used words to paint a world for us, when you read this book it is so easy to picture this place, the people, the souls, the unicorns, the soul stealers. The battle scenes were incredible.

To sum it up, you get more of your favorite characters from the first book, learn more about Lil' Bit, Ariston, an amazing new world to explore, and battles to cheer for. This is one of those books that you are not going to want to put down until you are finished with it.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
The desperate race to make it though the gate has worked. But now Scout, Trey and the Unicorns are on their own. Scout will do anything to rescue her lil Bit. No matter the cost. Trey will do anything to win the love of Scout back. Add a backdrop of soulstealers everywhere and a surprise twist too good to spoil you have another best seller no your hands.
I loved book 1 and have worried about the fate of Scout and Trey. I was giddy with joy to see they had made it through the gate. Now the worry was focused on all the souls. How could they possibly save everyone and make it with a closed gate. Right away Wendy Knight started chipping away at all my what if’s. Plenty of action in this one, with some true heartwarming scenes as well. Second novel is just as good as the 1st one. Great read

I loved the first in the series, Warrior Beautiful. It ended on a cliffhanger and I was really excited to pick up the sequel. It did not disappoint. All the things that I enjoyed in the first book were here: the tension between Scout and Trey, Scouts's love for her sister, the fun snarky banter between Scout and her battle unicorn Ashra (the unicorns are wicked fierce in this) the awesome fighting scenes (which I would love to see on the big screen--seriously, they're that imaginative and well written), and a new element, Scout's dancing. I didn't like the reason she had to dance, but Wendy wrote the sequences in a way that made me see what Scout was doing and I liked that a lot. One of my favorite scenes is when two lovers from Paradesos see each other again after 600 years. Worth the price of the book right there. It ends on another cliffhanger, but that just makes me excited for what's coming.

Wendy Knight has done it again! When I read Warrior Beautiful, I fell in love, and it left us readers on such a cliff-hanger! So I've been anxiously awaiting this sequel. And trust me - it didn't disappoint. Actually, Warrior Everlasting is such a masterpiece, I may be up all night just thinking about it. As a writer, I love stories that inspire me, and this book inspired me to write. That's what I call a great novel. Wendy has a way of connecting you to the characters so perfectly, that you feel every single thing they feel. Scout and Trey are so real with their ups and downs, and I'll confess - Ariston tugged at my heartstrings more than any other. I can't say much more without giving spoilers, but really - what more is necessary? This woman is an artist, and I recommend these wonderful unicorn-filled books without hesitation.

Wow. I fell in love with these characters in the first book and this one didn't disappoint. This is the unicorn story for people who don't like unicorns. They battle soul stealing demons and they rock. This story had a lot of moments where you thought ' oh, they are never going to make it' and they do. The battles are awesome and the people are broken, real and full of history that they need to learn to overcome. I love that Scout is the best big sister. Her focus on her sister and their bond is wonderful. I also really liked the 'big bad guy'. He wasn't evil just for evil's sake, he was understandable, pitiable, and yet- still a monster. I am looking forward to the next installation in the story!

The battle for the souls (every battle really) was awesome. I love the unicorns being incorporated. In battles its always witches and magic, human with guns or swords, ect. But in this there's a nice human unicorn combo that are more powerful together. I loved the flashbacks of Scout and Lil bit and I hope the next one has even more of Lil bit. She is a wonderful person with so much life in her and so encouraging to the other characters. The driving force behind Scout being able to do all this. Honestly the sisterly connection makes me think of my little sister and I. Lots of similarities (minus the unicorns) and I love the fact that I can bond with the characters on that deep of a level. I cannot wait for the next book.

My favorite books usually have strong female characters, some fantasy element, snarky humor, at least one battle scene, a truly awful villain I can't wait to see die and a romantic couple to root for. So I am happy to say that Warrior Everlasting has all of these things, except that I liked the truly awful villain Ariston and don't want to see die! I love the battle scenes and when I read a Wendy Knight book I think, They should make a movie out of this book! I haven't been disappointed by any book by Wendy Knight, and that in my opinion, makes her a master storyteller.

Scout, Trey and their unicorns are in Aptavaras, they're trying to get Scout's sister and all the lost souls back to their bodies.

This was very detailed. I really loved this because it was the 2nd book in the series. I like learning more about the unicorns in this. I like that in this book book we actually got to meet the bad guy. He really doesn't seem like a bad guy, just seems depressed.

The battle for souls of innocent has began

Another gripper read by Wendy Knight, her words are so descriptive its like a movie playing in your head when you read. Scout and Trey made it through to the other side of the portal with their unicorns before it was shut. Will they be smart enough and strong enough to free the souls that are trapped and if they do will they be able to get home now the portal is closed.
Can't wait for the next book in this fantastic series.

Loooooooved this book. Had to lock myself away so I could read it to the end! Once again we get some fantastic characters, lots of action too of course. Flying, fighting unicorns-I love them! I found myself rooting for the bad guy, she wrote his character so well I just couldn't help it. :) Can't wait for more!
