Dawson McCade, president of Riverdale chapter of The Slayers MC, has everything under control for the moment, although he knows it could change in an instant. The Conquistador drug Cartel is being held at bay thanks to the last minute kidnapping of the Cartel leader's daughter, Caterina Jimenez. Dawson knows they're nipping at his heels, though, just waiting for the opportunity to strike. It's up to him to think ahead and find a way to make this temporary truce between them last... otherwise it'll be an all out war. One Dawson has doubts about winning.
He has a brand new Ol' lady, Molly aka "Angel" and a new family to protect. He has more than enough to lose if things don't go how he needs them to. It's up to Dawson and the club's enforcer, Chase Barrett, to find a way to keep everyone and everything that they love safe from the Cartel.
What happen's if one of the very things the Cartel is after, is the one thing Chase discovers he isn't willing to give up? *************************************************************** Caterina, "Cat, Jimenez is the twenty-three year old daughter of one of the most powerful drug Cartel leaders in Mexico. She hates the life she's been born into, hates everything about the power and wealth her family has amassed. Convincing her family to let her study Medicine across the border in Texas was her way of escaping the life that threatens to claim her just as it had her mother. She had done what she thought she'd never be able to... to be free. That is, until she's swept up and taken in the middle of the day on her way to class by a rough and tough biker named Chase. He says he'll let her go. He says she's not in any danger, but she knows better. She knows not to trust men like this, having seen first hand what they're capable. So, she does the only thing possible. Cat sets in motion a plan to escape her captor. using her feminine charms to seduce and trick him, waiting for the perfect moment to make her move. Cat has no idea how much is riding on her, how much depends on Chase being able to keep her. They're both about to find out, in HARD RIDE, book 2 in The Slayers MC series, meant to be read in order following book 1, FIRST RIDE.
This is the continuation of the story involving Dawson and Molly. Dawson is the bad ass president of the Slayers MC and he's not backing down from the Cartel. Playing chicken with your enemies either means you have a screw loose or a lot of nuts.
The characters in this series are fairly stereotyped but it is entertaining and worth a read if you are really needing an SOA fix in print.
I wish I read the first book, I feel like I am missing a little background, but not enough that I did not enjoy the book. Dawson is the President of a local MC and runs a tight ship. He does it respectfully and keeps people happy and willing to follow him, they trust him to do the right thing for everyone. He does have a bit of a temper and when the Cartel threatens his club, he does something drastic and ends up kidnapping the illegitimate "forgotten" daughter of the Cartel leader. While keeping her captive, he has his best man and club enforcer keep and eye on her. This is a club that is a little more gang like than any other MC book or show I have been entertained by and I think I like it a little more for that. I say think, only because I am not used to it. Chase and Cat develope a bond after she stops trying to kill him and Dawson puts the idea in his head to get her knocked up to add more leverage. When the MC learns about the truth of her relationship with her father and that her and her cousin Mateo want to over thrown the Cartel leader, things start to look up. Especially now that he has a woman living with him with her niece. He does what he can to keep her safe, and in the end they share very good news and everything wors out. The club and the Cartel are now working together and Cat stayed behind to stay with Chase and be used as leverage in case something happens between them. Especially since Mateo has a card up his sleeve as well. I am super ready for the next book and still want to read the first.
This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
The book isn't really about the summary. It's more about Dawson and Angel to me. We get quick shots of Cat and Chase, but their story is rushed and a tad unrealistic. Stockholm Syndrome....but no abuse. It has a wham bam we are in love feel.
The story behind everything is good and Dawson pissed me off a tad, but he got it together in the end.
Hard Ride was my second Tara Oaks book. I loved both of them. I liked that it was written in multiple points of view, liked that Angel and Dawson featured and that I got to know them better. Hope that Tara did the same in book 3, need more Cat and Chase.
Dawson may have everything under control and trying to make a life with his new girl Molly, but when Cartel trouble puts his club and livelihood in danger, certain things WILL have to happen. But when his plan to kidnap the daughter of the Cartel's Kingpin doesn't get the reaction he wants, Dawson leaves the MC's enforcer to do the job.
Chase never thought that babysitting someone would be so dangerous, but Caterina is making his life miserable. Yes, she is nice looking and has a body to die for but with the constant escape attempts and physical violence she directs towards him, Chase is rethinking this whole job. But when Dawson gives him a direct order to "Get Close" to Cat, he has no choice but smile and try and play nice. But who would have thought that he would start to feel something for the feisty Latina.
Caterina Jimenez hates her father and couldn't wait to get away from him but this was not her plan. She wanted to go to medical school, start over somewhere new but when the sexy enforcer put a kink in her plan. Yes she may fight him a little but not for the reason he may think. She wants far away from her old life and decides with a little help from her new friend, she just maybe be able to "Get Away". But falling for her captor wasn't in her plan, can she get away from her father and still make it with her sexy enforcer.
This story has alternating POV's and follows two couples (Dawson & Molly / Chase & Cat). This is Book #2 of The Slayers MC series, however it does give the reader enough backstory to read this as a stand alone. The plot is great and actually is a quick read. I found myself starting it and then the next thing I know I was at 75%. The major conflict was not fully detailed but I much rather reading about the couples and their drama, than how a Kingpin went down. I do know that I am now going back to read book #1 so I can get a full understanding of Dawson's backstory.
Great Read and Great Series...... 4 Stars!
This ARC was provided for my honest review, which was for We Stole Your Book Boyfriend Blog.
This is the second book in this series and you need to read them in order to fully understand what is happening. This book picks up shortly after the first one ends. Dawson knows the cartel could make its move any time and has been planning for when they do. And just like that they do strike but not with a physical attack but an end run. Trixie’s day care gets shut down, they plant drugs and the strip joint, and Stitches gets attacked in jail. While this isn’t the way Dawson thought they would attack he has a plan and sets it in motion. He has Chase kidnap the cartel head’s daughter, Cat. But things aren’t as Dawson thinks they are. Then Dawson gets another idea that maybe things will be easier if Cat is involved with one of the Slayers and who better than Chase. Chase has Cat hidden away in a cabin in woods things don’t go smoothly at first but after a bit he learns more about her and ways the club along with Cat can work things out. Will Cat and Chase become more than captor and captive? Will the Club be able to stand up against the Cartel or will they lose everything? It was fun getting to read about the club again. Dawson and Angel aren’t the main focus of this book but you do get to read more about them. Stitches and Baby play a larger role in this book as well. The main focus is Cat and Chase and while they don’t come together till further in the book they have a lot in common. Cat knows nothing about who took her and why. She underestimates Chase as well; she assumes he isn’t as smart as he is just because he is a biker. I can’t wait for the next book in this series to come out. I am excited to see who the focus of the next book is. The book ends of a happy kind of cliff hanger that makes you want the next book now. Tara Oakes is a great author. She writes books that pull you in to the story. I was hooked from the first page. I look forward to reading more books by Tara in the future. I was given this book in return for an honest review.
I was provided a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.
Holy Smoke I just finish reading this book, and I have to say that I did not wanted to finish it cause I wanted more. This book is full off surprise and it has a little bit of everything, if you read the first book than this book picks up where the first one end it, I am going to keep this short cause I don't want to give to much of it away.
After the club when through some hard time Dawson is trying to keep everything under control. But since their is always something going on some of the member end up having Kidnapping an important person Caterina, "Cat, Jimenez. She is the daughter of one of the most powerful man in Mexico the leader of The Conquistador drug Cartel. And Chase is the one stuck taking care of her, Caterina is not happy with what her father does she hates that life that's why she end up coming to collage away from Mexico and her family. But what she was not expecting was to be kidnap and start having feeling for Chase. After spending more time with her Chase has started to have feelings for her now will Chase keep her safe will he win her love.
On the mean time Dawson is trying everything to protect his family and his club. And he will not stop until he gets everyone save.
I have to say that I love how Chase and Caterina are with each other, love it how she stand up to him and don't put up with him, love it how he always pushing her buttons and the Sex Scene are Hot.
I really love and enjoy reading this book, Author Tara Oaks THANK YOU for giving me the chance to read this awesome book and love this amazing characters love them.
Great follow-up to book one of The Slayers MC and one I have been waiting for. There were things unresolved and truthfully, I really like this band of brothers. While they are all, hard-headed, alpha males; they are also fun, sexy and softies to the right girl.
This book was not really about one couple which I like. The story is moving forward; we have Dawson and Angel working through their issues but now we also have Cat and Chase. Cat is the daughter of the cartel leader and Chase is the club's enforcer. To say they get off on the wrong foot is an understatement. Cat was taken by the club and she is not quiet about her dislike of her situation. Chase is fighting attraction and just trying to do what is right by his club. At some point motives change and hate becomes lust.
With a huge threat hanging over their heads, the Slayers need to figure out who they can trust and who they can't. Everyone has something to lose and figuring out who is on their side can turn deadly.
I literally devoured this book, I was so wrapped up in the drama and game changers that nothing else mattered. I didn't even highlight anything, which is completely unlike me. I so enjoy this story line and, I enjoy where the characters are going. Each character has so much personality and brings something a little different to experience, but they all work together cohesively. The troubles with a MC will probably never rest, especially one who lives on the wrong side of the law and I can't wait to experience it with them.
This is the second installment in The Slayers MC series. It has action, suspense and seduction at its finest. I enjoyed the overall story line in this installment and have become a big fan of Dawson and Molly. There is also more character development with Chase and Cat. Chase and Dawson are definitely dripping with dangerous sex appeal and I can't decide who I like best as my " book boyfriend" in this one, so I will be selfish and choose them both! I am currently on the last installment of the series and recommend that you add this to your TBR list and get reading!!!!!
Hard Ride (The Slayers MC Book 2) by Tara Oakes picks up where the first book left off. Dawson is trying to juggle his new relationship with Angel, The pseudo truce with the Cartel, trying to get Stitch out of prison, keeping his prisoner safe and secure and finding a way to end to the beef between the Cartel and the Slayers. In the meantime Chase the clubs enforcer is keeping an eye out on Caterina aka Cat the daughter of the boss of the Cartel. This is the story of how Dawson deals with all the things he is juggling without losing his mind, reverting back to his bad habits or hurting someone. There are some feelings flying in between Chase and Cat. And like Dawson points out to Chase there is a thin line between love and hate. The interaction between Chase and Cat is quite comical and explosive. Thiers is quite the roller coaster journey, full of ups and downs. What Dawson comes up with to fix their problem with the Cartel it might not go over to well with Chase and it will cause him to do things he never planned on or thought he would do. I truly enjoyed this story and how the author brought the story to the end was nice. The book ended in such a way that I pleased with the end and look forward to the continuation of the Slayer saga. I was given an ARC for an honest review. I give this story 4.5 stars.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a honest review over on my blog Pretty Little Book Blog.
Jumping in where First Ride left off we are seeing first hand the aftermath of the cops trashing the clubhouse looking for anything they can pin on the MC. Dawson is having a bit of a grumpy moment and the sea of leather wearing bikers parts as he storms around trying to figure out how to deal with the latest threat to the club. They have taken the daughter of the president of a rival club hostage in order to keep the peace in town. So far it's working out okay but there have been some close calls and the sparks flying between Chase and Caterina are giving us a precursor of how spicy their relationship is going to be.
She thinks she knows how life Is for him and he thinks he knows how life Is for her but what they begin to learn is that they really know nothing about each other and have more in common then they originally thought. All of this discovery is happening alongside trying to inflitrate Caterina's father's empire and still protect their own. The Slayers definitely have their hands full. The story between Chase and Caterina is one that has been told before but Tara gives us some twists and turns to make this typical MC romance trope fresh and exciting.
Hard Ride is a Novella only about 150’ish pages. And, is the 2nd book in The Slayers MC Series. I really enjoyed reading Dawson’s & Angel’s (aka Molly) story. I loved the ending of this book even though it does end in a cliffhanger. I don’t normally start my reviews with the ending of a book but, it was a cliffhanger that I could handle and knowing the 3rd book is due out in April isn’t too long of a wait.
Angel is Dawson’s “brand new Ol' lady” And, Dawson is the President of the Riverdale chapter of The Slayers MC. I will let you read the synopsis for yourself since the author does a much better job at it than me.
We also got to see a little of Caterina “Cat” Jimenez the daughter of one of “the most powerful drug Cartel leaders in Mexico.” And, Chase who is a “rough and tough biker” I am hoping we get more of their story in Book 3 as well as more of Dawson’s and Angel’s story especially since they are who the cliffhanger was about.
Tara Oakes does know how to tell a story and makes you want to keep coming back for more. I can’t wait for April to get here! I received a complimentary copy of Hard Ride for an honest review and I give it 4.5 stars
This book picks up right where book one leaves off. Dawson isn't happy with Angel getting a different job. In this story we meet Caterina, who is being held as leverage against her father. Dawson goes to visit Dawson and Caterina at least every other day as it helps him clear his head, when he arrives he tells Chase about his plan. Dawson is the president of the Slayers MC. He is very loyal to the club and to his Angel and Sasha. Angel "Molly." is Dawson's ol lady, she is Sasha's aunt, she is very hard headed. Sasha is Angel's niece, she is a very sweet little girl. Caterina is the daughter of the Cartel leader in Mexico, she wants to be a doctor. Chase is the enforcer for the Slayer's MC. He isn't afraid of danger, He is very loyal to the MC. Baby is Angel's friend, Stitches ol lady, pregnant. Stitch is in prison, he is part of the Slayers MC. Uno is part of the Slayers MC, only has one eye. Trixie is Uno's old lady, she owns her own preschool. This book is another great read by Tara Oakes. This book is very well written and the characters are very well developed. I felt very connected to the characters and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, danger, suspense, and heartbreak.
This is Holly (Angel) and Dawson’s story and also the beginning of Cat and Chase’s story. Dawson is having a bad day. His woman just got a new job and he is not happy about it he thought when she had a secret it would be something he wanted to hear. His club’s enforcer, Chase is the person in charge of watching their hostage Cat. Cat is determined to escape. She will do anything as she is sure that the Slayers don’t know her worth to her father. When seduction is thought of by the captive and the capture then really who is seducing who? Once secrets are revealed can Cat count on Chase to believe her and help her? Or will he betray her and get her hurt? Can Dawson and the club come up with a plan to save the club and maybe even Cat? Or is it all over?
I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I recommend this book and can’t wait for the next book of this series.
I received a complimentary copy of Hard Ride in exchange for an honest review.
Hard Ride is the second book in The Slayers MC Series. I thoroughly enjoyed reading more about Dawson and his Ol’Lady Molly aka Angel in this series. I love when we get continuations of previous characters.
We also “meet” Caterina - who goes by Cat and her life story. She is the daughter of the Cartel leader. Hearing her story was both heartbreaking and uplifting. It goes to show how a person’s past makes them who they are but also who they are not. Chase Barnett is also more thoroughly introduced in the story, but I want more! More. More. More. LOVE LOVE LOVE Chase. It was interesting to see how the two of them come together and how the Slayers handle the Cartel.
Tara does leave us on another cliffhanger – however, I loved this cliffhanger and cannot wait to read more about Dawson, Angel, Cat and Chase. I’m sure Tara will continue to introduce us to more Slayers as well!!
I love Tara Oakes and I love MC books so this was a no brainer. This book mostly focuses on Chase, but there is a lot of Dawson and Molly as well as the trouble surrounding the Slayers MC. The Mexican Cartel has been giving the boys some trouble. At the end of book one, the club had devised a plan to gain some control over the situation. Also at the end of book 1, Molly had some news to share with Dawson; it was a heck of a cliffhanger. I’m happy to say that this book isn’t. The book is written from multiple points of view which is always a plus for me. Some of the story line felt rushed to me, but that didn’t distract me too much. It is clear that the plot is going in a specific direction with Chase, so sooner or later it was going to happen. Anyway, I give this book 4 stars and look forward to the next in this series.
I loved the first book and couldn't wait to get started on this one; it didn't disappoint!
The characters were just as amazing as book one and the storyline was even stronger, not as explosive but enough drama to keep you on your toes.
I loved where this book was heading, where it ended, and how the story panned out.
I didn't like Dawson's attitude at the beginning, eyeing Candy like she's his next lay all the while having an Ol' Lady....that annoyed me. Not only that, his character totally over reacted about something the Angle told him the night before. I think the way the author wrote that was a bit OTT.
The reason I'm missing out half a star is because I brought this on Amazon when it's obvious this needs more editing. There were so many mistake that could easily have been spotted but wasn't sorted, it made some of it a struggle to read.
This is the second book in the Slayers MC. The second book starts off where the first book ended. I loved how the characters from the first book were intertwined in the second. We still are told the story from Angels and Dawson POV, but we also hear from Cat and Chase or are introduced as main characters in this book. Dawson is the President of the Slayers MC and Chase is the enforcer. Dawson has Chase on a special assignment that involves the Cartel. I dont want to give to much away but this series will suck you and and hold you, while leaving you wanting more. I already pre-ordered book 3, which is set to release on April 27, 2016. The books do not end on a total cliffhanger, but you do know there is more to the story. Also you cannot read the books a s standalone. They are to entwined to understand one without the other.
This is the second book in the Slayers MC series. You do need to read this series in order. This picks up right where the previous book ends. It’s told by Angel, Dawson, Chase and Cat.
Cat is being held by the Slayers as reassurance. They need to work things out with the cartel. Cat is the daughter of the cartel leader. Chase stays with her to watch over her.
But things aren’t exactly how they seem. Especially when her cousin, Mateo, comes into the picture. But are they telling the truth?
Only one way to find out…read the book.
Angel and Dawson’s story also continues in this book.
This is a good read and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
I Loved This Book So Much, The Developing Relationships From the First Book Are Amazing And The Chemistry Between Them All Is Amazing. The Men Love There Women Hard And There Brothers Like No Others.
Although Another Couple Was Introduced Into The Mix In Chase And Cat, Dawson And Angel/Molly Factor Highly In This Story.
I Won't Give Anything Away But This Lady Loves A Cliff Hanger And I Will Be Waiting No So Patiently For The Next Book. A Great Read And A Definite Recommendation Love The Slayer MC

This book picks up where the last book left off, with the threat of the cartel upon them the slayers have taken the head of the cartel's daughter as a hostage to help them get what they want. Cat is the daughter of the leader of the cartel, but uknown to everyone she can't stand him and nfl is not found of her either. The slayers put Chase incharge of Cat's safety, and while hiding out they develop feelings for ech other. We get to see other couples from the first boom as well. This is a great read with a lot of twists and turns and nothing is what you think it is.
This series just keeps getting better! The Slayers are at it again, protecting what's theirs at any cost. This time they kidnap Cartel rival's daughter Cat, and the roller coaster ride I enjoy in this series takes on a whole new spin. Things are never what they appear to be, and this is no exception as Slayer enforcer Chase finds out when is is given the duty of caring for his hostage Cat. What starts out as banter between them to outsmart each turns into something much deeper. Hurry book 3!
The Slayers continue on where we left off in book 1. There is action galore, twists and turns, and if course there can't be a slayer's book without the hot factor.
We get the full gist of what's going on from 4 different perspectives throughout the book. It makes it easier to see what is going on behind the scenes and on the home front. I am now anxiously awaiting book 3 in April to see how the story continues.
Great book can't wait for the next one well written series this is one you can sink your teeth in one that 3 o'clock and someone still has the flash light out book under the covers love Tara Oakes MC books this one is the 2nd book in this series you might want to grab you copy want be disappointed
Once again Tara Writes a simply wonderful book. The interaction between brothers and other characters is real. Dawson is Awesome!!!! I can't wait for the next installment of the Slayers MC
I loved it from the first page. I love it when a book grips you from page one and propels you to not put it down till the last word. Looking forward to book 3
Tara Oakes writes her characters so you feel the emotions they are feeling. This book was one hard and sexy ride. I loved this book and can't wait for book 3. Amazing!!!!!!!
