Rate this book
North was on track to go nowhere. According to his brothers, ice skating was a hobby not a career. That didn’t stop him from dreaming of an Olympic Medal. Even if it was an impossible dream without a coach. Hadley had been on track to the Olympics when a skating accident left her crippled and unable to skate. With no future plan other than skating Hadley returns home tired and broken. She would never be again, an Olympic ranked skater. When their tracks collide North finds hope and a future in Hadley. She could be everything he needs her to be. She could help him reach that elusive dream. Hadley’s trying to find her future. That path doesn’t necessarily include North. North is a skater with his eyes set on a medal, and Hadley can never be again. She just wanted peace. Leaving tracks is for North to do. Hadley has already cut hers into the ice.

Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, but with the ability to claim eight states as home; Victoria Escobar writes fiction from her current home in New York. She writes whatever comes to mind and because of such has a variety of genres written including Young Adult, New Adult, Paranormal, Urban Fantasy, and Contemporary Fiction.

In spare time if not with family, and friends Victoria enjoys curling up with a book from a favorite author with music playing. If not reading or writing she spends time drawing, sketching, crocheting, or some other random art project. She enjoys staying busy, but most of all enjoys staying creative.

She reads anything she can get her hands on, and devours a book in five hours or less. Victoria reads the Young adult books and the science fiction fantasy books more than anything else. However, she can be caught reading romance novels, and classics at times depending on her whimsy.

What I liked: I loved the idea of these two people, one a hopeful skater and the other a former skater, trying to go Olympic when I first read the summary. Hadley herself was a character who was both conflicted and fun throughout the story about different things, especially once North became involved. North on the other hand is someone who doesn't want to give up his dream of becoming good enough to be an Olympic ice skater. North isn't all that great on learning how to do new moves since he practices on a frozen lake which also holds some bad memories for him from when he was younger. We learn quite a bit about the different characters who appear in the story for each perspective, and I enjoyed knowing them because they were all good characters. I also liked knowing how Hadley came to not be able to skate anymore, and what her accident had actually been. She also eluded to the fact she wished she had stayed a single skater, which gave a little insight as to what might have happened, but when we actually learn it's a very bad injury that she would have never been able to come back from due to its severity unless she had been extremely lucky somehow.

What I didn't like: Doesn't really exist, I felt quite content with this book and what happened.

Overall Review: This was a very lovely book and one that I really enjoyed reading from the moment I picked up to the moment I finished. The characters are lovely and wonderful to follow and learning more about them as the story moved on was something I always love experiencing. This is yet another wonderful book by an amazing writer who I can't wait to read more from!

Recommend?: Definitely! Victoria Escobar has a way with words that I really like and I'm excited to read more of her books as they come out!

I was provided with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

North is an optimistic and hopeful skater, with his eyes set on an Olympic medal. The fact that he is pretty much a novice at this and that almost everyone else in the world thinks he can't make it, doesn't really bother him much. All that he is desperately seeking, is a guiding hand and a beacon. Hadley is a girl whose life has pretty much been shaken by destiny. Once a gifted skater, but crippled by a nasty accident, she has absolutely no chance of going back to the Olympics ever. When these two are thrown together by fate, North sees this as a blessing, hoping Hadley will give him the guidance and training needed, while Hadley sees this as an intrusion, embittered by her frostiness about what can never be hers. Will these two leave their shells out and understand each other, is what the book takes us through.

What gripped me the most was the diagonally opposite characterisation for North and Hadley - each so different from the other, and yet so human at the core. As the reader, they both come across as endearing, be it the dreamy-eyed, almost baby-like North, or the hardened and snappy Hadley. The pace of the book was perfect. Escobar has managed to keep the narrative engaging, at the same time not rushing through the emotional elements.

I absolutely loved the book and would recommend it to all book lovers!

I love ice skating so when I saw the cover I could not wait to read it. I was not disappointed.

North lives and works on a farm with his three brothers. He's skating enthusiast and dreams of competing in the Olympics but his brothers are opposed, especially Thierry, was responsible for their activities. This passion he inherited from his mother even though she claimed the lives. North was 13 and he was skating with her when the ice has melted, the boy was saved but the mother did not have it done. The father for the pain started to drink and a few months after he had an accident and so were left orphans. North is exercised alone without a coach and in his spare time that rarely gives him his brother.
Hadley is a skating champion but can not compete because of a bad injury. Back at home the other two sisters who live near the farm boys.
After a bit of hesitation, Hadley agrees to become coach of North. But the growing attraction between the two does not help them ..... North will achieve his dream?

It 's a pleasant read, sweet and funny. A must read for anyone who loves ice skating.
