Ernest Shurtleff Holmes was an American New Thought writer, teacher, and leader. He was the founder of a Spiritual movement known as Religious Science, part of the greater New Thought movement, whose spiritual philosophy is known as "The Science of Mind." He was the author of The Science of Mind and numerous other metaphysical books, and the founder of Science of Mind magazine, in continuous publication since 1927. His books remain in print, and the principles he taught as "Science of Mind" have inspired and influenced many generations of metaphysical students and teachers. Holmes had previously studied another New Thought teaching, Divine Science, and was an ordained Divine Science Minister. His influence beyond New Thought can be seen in the self-help movement.

Life changing! ha! No, really- it was. I really enjoyed the book, although I read it out of order & in conjunction with a class that was incredibly powerful & truly life changing.

This book provides an overview of the basic teachings of the Science of Mind philosophy. There are some great nuggets in this book that help you to overcome the negative thought-patterns that plague the lives of most people. It is a hopeful book that gives practical steps to train your mind in the potential that lies within each of us. I give it three stars solely because I don't agree with the totality of the Science of Mind philosophy and because it is written in an older writing style that reminds me of certain Christian authors of years past. But those are my issues. :-) Still, there is a great deal of positivity in these pages.

One of the easiest to digest of Holmes books, with quick-to-read chapters, and an emphasis on practical advice. There's also a wealth of good stuff in the appendices -- it would be a mistake to skip over the clear definitions and other in-depth material.
