For 15 years of her childhood she had to hold deep within terror and realization that she could not share her secret with her family because of their religious belief that all spirits were demons. Her fear of losing their love, possibly being committed to a mental health facility or damnation to hell was more powerful for her than the suffering she did with the challenges she had to face on a daily basis.
