England is once again beset with enemies from within and from without. But this time she faces a threat more deadly and savage than the NAZI scourge of WWII. It is at this unexpected time that Merlin chooses to return, and in a place and form just as unexpected. After selecting his last Guardian, a man of surpassing martial prowess, he trains him for their return to Old Blighty and to do what must be done.
Great book. There is so much in here to appreciate. The action and adventure is great fun, but even more is the lesson about really thinking about ones actions and thoughts and what they tell you about yourself. Then, deciding what kind of person you want to be, and acting and thinking accordingly. If you don't like introspection, just read it for the fun adventurous story and great characters, but read it. It's a great book.
The first three quarters of this story was fantastic. It wasn’t until I understood that the savages were Muslim that I rejected this book. To demonize and call them servants of hell was too messed up for me. The British empire goes and conquer all these countries, and now they are upset that they’re citizens??? And now they’re hell spawns
