Welp, this alien story can return home, I have no use for it. It lacks much description about the characters, so I know the alien dude has topaz colored scales, but that's about it. Does he have a human nose? Forked tongue? These are important details. Otherwise, this story seems like it's an outline of a story. It's super quick, but it didn't feel complete. So this isn't getting any higher than a 1 star. Go back home aliens!

More than our instincts

This book started out with a bang! Like literally, several actually. I enjoyed the characters, although the leading man was absent for a bit of the story. I can relate to not knowing what your purpose is. The sister was fantastic and I can’t wait to read her story. I was a little bummed at the ending because I felt like it needed more, but overall I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by the author.

Felt like half the story was missing....

Meli was a good and the interesting heroine but to only have her pov felt like getting only 1/2 the story....I really like the story to start off with but Meli and Tlavi weren't together enough, No pov from m him and hardly talk me or contact with each other .... She's so n the dessert fighting to get away from a perv., the Tlavi shows up and does a rescue/kidnapping kinda combo and shoves her off on his very kind sister ( whom neither of want to be a "slave" the " fated mate/mating") of their ppl.... They have a short run in then don't see each other until their attacked in space and she e Es up carding for him when they crash land.. ( sister being sent off in space pod) have sex once ( more than once really but once is described) they get rescued and he immediately send her off with out soo much as a backward glance or anything... She's returned with a few 100k in money for support feeling like odd like a cross between a hooker ( the huge wads of cash) and a kidnap victim and a rejected lover... She misses him like crazy but didn't really get to know him ( none of them s did ;( ) and didn't really have anything but sex with him... Then she finds out she's pregnant and guess what she's half what ever Tlavi is Coz history is supposedly repeating its self...
Both Mother and Daughter feel for males who feel a slave to the whole "fated mate" thing ,neither seemed to have a problem walking away from them....
Then next thing you know Tlavi is back and taken them both just to tell her he's gonna permanently drug himself and 1/2 destroy himself ( for someone he barely knows or seems tolerate) to "free" her from him... This is after they've had sex again... O and after she finds out who her Dad is.... She tell him she's pregnant , he's thrilled and the end....
And I'm left the thinking WTF ?!?!?!?
Why does a writer introduce something that huge " your part alien and here's your father and " The End" ?!? We NEVER reAlly get to know Tlavi or anything really about him ,honestly this story was like a interesting road to Nowhere ! Lots of great ideas and promise that are never fulfilled....Meli,Tlavi and his sister and the situation was very interesting but we're denied the chance to get to know him just like Meli ( most of the time she's out him space he's either hiding from her or passed out cold) but supposedly after a month he was going crazy to be with her... As much I I wanted to like it ,I was left unconvinced and kinda at all the wasted potential and kinda pissed the whole your father was an alien and look here he is , was just dumped at the end and the book ended with out anything being finished... Father though mate was dead and had No clue about her but O well story is over... Huh? As bad as some stories are I'd think writers would want to write books they'd want to read, well why would anyone want a 1/2 written unfinished book ?
Soo grateful this was KU...

Missing a lot

This review will have spoilers.

This book had a lot of potential. I liked the story line and the premise, but it was like it was missing entire chapters or something. I don't read serials, I wait for the book to come out.

They meet, he says some pretty nasty things, they crash, he says more stuff, she accidentally (really? A couple of weeks on her own drinking this stuff and she has no idea it is an aphrodisiac?) gives him an aphrodisiac and they mate for a couple days. He plops her back on earth and Lo and behold comes back and story is over they are mates. What about their struggles to get past his prejudice ? She's on a planet for a couple of weeks in a crash landing and NOTHING happens until they get rescued? He's just in a coma and she wanders around the ship doing nothing for days or weeks? Even when they do get together they don't interact but to have sex. She had more interaction and relationship building with his sister.

The characters needed some relationship building, desperately. There was hardly any dialog between the two. There was more time explaining the spaceship that their relationship. She started out as a really strong woman and ended up just caving into him for no particular reason. I might try this author again, just to see if she improves because she has a lot of potential.

Sooo there were plot holes and logic gaps big enough for a CYBORG T-REX CROSSED WITH A SHERMAN TANK TO DO BACK-FLIPS THROUGH!!! I thought of that analogy as I was reading... and then... a t-rex was mentioned and I laughed in my heart. I think this is another case of knowing what's going on in your head but not getting it down on the page when you write. I was really distracted and unappreciative of the disjointed story-line made nearly entirely of logic fails, without that I would have scored it higher, because there were enjoyable bits of it.

Finally Home

Meli can't find her place in life. Nothing seems to feel right. So, her mother sent her on a vision quest into the desert! She gets abducted by a beautiful lizard-man, Tlavi. He tells her that she is his mate. She mates with him and all Hell breaks apart. Then another alien sends her home with a little surprise. But then her mother has a surprise of her own. You will want to read the book for sure! There's a happy ending around the corner, for both mother and daughter! Meli finally understands why her mother is an old time hippie. I recommend this book because aliens and humans can fall in love across the galaxy.

Good sci-fi romance

Really liked the world building once you get past the first chapter. At first glance it looks like a lot of sex with nothing else but give yourself time to get past that initial beginning.

Pretty cool little romp. A bit of a rough start that thankfully doesn't get farther than threats by a douchebag. I like how the story comes kinda full circle toward the end but leaves an opening for the next installment with Tlavi's sister.

3.5 for a short. Writing is easy to read, heroine was not annoying. I wish it was more fleshed out.

Interesting but plot holes

I am loving the galactic alien stories. This one started off interesting but then the plot fell off at the end.

It was a pretty interesting read but I definitely could have used more world building. It was steamy but I needed more background.

Some people are simply blessed with wonderful, out of this world imaginations, and Flora Dare is definitely one of them. Her ability to weave such outrageous tales that absolutely takes you off to other worlds is uncanny. Not only does she get your brain in a different stratosphere, she keeps you guessing from one page to the next, exactly what is going on and where it will end up.
Meli has been a wanderer all of her life, never quite fitting in with others and never sure of what she should be doing with herself or where she will end up. With only her "hippie" mother as family, never having known her father, not even who or what he was, she can't even run off to sound off to another member of family. When encouraged by her mom to visit with a shaman with hopes of finding her place in the world, never did she expect what lay waiting for her. Tlavi is determined to not follow in his father's footsteps, using his pagona to control and beat his mate. He would rather try and break the link than put anyone through that hell. But what they don't know, the dark secret of Meli's parentage, just may change both of their dreams and aspirations. What will come of them? Will they find peace with each other or will they end by destroying themselves? A great short story that will have you wondering just what is out there the next time you look up to the stars.

>Book Review – Alpha Alien–

>I am an independent reviewer. This is a standalone novel with an HEA. Meli was raised by a single mom. Her mom encouraged her daughter to do whatever she wanted to see what she was good at. As a result of her upbringing, Meli turned into a drifter. Fighting off some bad guys in the desert, Meli is abducted by a lizard man, Tlavi. Tlavi seems to simultaneously be attracted and repelled by Meli. He protects her, yet calls her names.

>The descriptions of the different items on board the spaceship is fascinating. Tlavi’s sister gives the reader a little backstory and explanations for Meli. After Meli cares for Tlavi, the relationship seems to be cemented. The author went right to the ending. While the ending was a good one, I felt that so much of Meli and Tlavi getting to know one another were missing.

>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the book 4 stars. Some additional scenes of the progress of Tlavi and Meli’s relationship would have added an additional star.

This is a book that make you want to laugh but also you want to know what is going to happen next. Meli does not know what she wants in her life to help her out her mom sends her to a Shaman , who sends Meli into the desert on a vision quest. The next day the nephew of the Shaman and one of his friends comes out to where Meli is with not so nice thoughts of what the nephew will do to Meli ,but she only drank one of the vials she was given which allows her to fight. While she is defending herself a spaceship comes from the ski saving her but also kidnapping her.Meli is now on a spaceship with Tlavi and his sister, Thea, Tlavi thinks Meli is his mate but he does not want a Human. What happens when the ship is attacked by pirates? Can Tlavi keep Meli safe? What happened to Thea? Who is Meli’s father? I want the next book! I was gifted a copy for an honest review barwatts@telus.net

I read Alpha Alien, book 1 in the "Bound to the Alien" series, in individual parts, along when each part was first published. I wish I was able to read them all in one hit first time around.

From the start of all 3 installments I was quickly drawn into the story & what an action packed story it was, devouring them & shocking myself when I'd come to the end. Then the cliffhangers, OH MAN... thank goodness the next part was just a turn away (whereas when I first read this I had to wait), I'm not sure how I handled the wait before. I enjoyed everything in here, from the moment Meli was taken from Earth by Tlavi, the space pirates attacking, & everything in between. I can't wait for more of the "Bound to the Alien" series, as I have so many questions once I'd finished.

I will start by saying Sci-fi is not really my thing. With that being said...this book is A-mazing! I very much enjoyed the alien with humans aspect. Meli is taken by what she assumes is a mean alien. However, it turns out he is her life mate. Tlavi is strangely alluring and sexy. He is tall and broad and wow! He whisks Meli off in his spaceship and the sparks fly. I hate spoilers so that is all I am going to say. Honestly, I could not put it down and actually made dinner an hour late because of it! I can not wait to read about Thea!

Alpha Alien by Flora Dare is all kinds of sexy, smutty alien romance. I love the world that Dare created and how in the end things come full circle for Meli. The fated mates and background for the aliens drags you back into the story repeatedly and makes you need to know what happens. The mini-cliffy to find out what happens to Thea (a secondary character) was well played, now I can't wait to dig into the next book!

Three stars and Three wet panties!

This story was like nothing I've read before. Normally, even in sci-fi, the hero will be humanoid. Not in this one! Although I'm not really a fan of sci-fi I gave this a shot & quite enjoyed it, although it could have been much better than it was. I read the whole book in one sitting & was unaware that it had previously been a serial until I read some of the other reviews, but now that I know it helps to make sense of the lack of flow through the book. For me to have really liked it, some more time should have been spent fleshing out the story.

KINDA SPOILERS AHEAD.

I just couldn't finish it. The story is already short, but then trying to pack it with ALL the tropes possible?

Too much.

We had the alien life mate, that he just couldn't resist. They crashed on a planet and had to survive, which is usually my favorite but here it was so out of nowhere and short-- She was some hybrid and conveniently her dad showed up too. Like, really? Really??? And all of that in under 88 pages.

Love alien stories. A taboo for me. This had a good storyline to keep me coming back for more. I liked the characters. Had good voices. I did wish there was more interaction with in the characters. Also need more description on the aliens. I got an idea what they looked like buy needed to fill in the blanks with my own imagination.

I had to check if I'd somehow skipped a book or two whilst reading this series because there was very little plot (i was wasn't expecting much anyway), bland characters, patchy character description, events occurring at the drop of a hat making the series feel like it's missing several important chapters.

Ok read a Sci Fi based romance, nice to get all three parts.
I mostly read shifter/ Paranormal books so I found Some of the story far fetched /a bit out there but it's Sci Fi so it's presumed its meant to be. It was A nice step outside reality for a while at least.

I received this book free via instafreebie in exchange for an honest review.

I read Alpha Alien as individual parts, instead of this complete one. I really enjoyed them. Although I felt the last installment was a bit rushed, the first two parts of this story are FANTASTIC! Alpha Alien is one of my favorites by Flora Dare, and is definitely worth the purchase.

Yeah, no real romance here. Just a completely jerkish alien lizard man who does not do or say anything remotely resembling kindness our caring. The author has tons of potential, but that isn't really happening here.

Out of this world!

The passion between Tlavi and Meli is intense. They may have the biological need to mate but fighting it isn't getting them anywhere. It's a short but sweet story about accepting your fate. A truly enjoyable read.

Wonderful story, thoroughly enjoyed this adventure. Did have one question, why did the hero come back? I must have missed that.

Easy read and ready to read more.
