What can I say? Birthday present - very amusing although I may pass on the bungee jumping... When I've finished it I'll report some of the more 'interesting' suggestions! In the meantime, this was a quote I liked from Ovid: "Let your hook always be cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish."
I really enjoyed this! It's a quick read, but might be worth going through a couple of times to pick out a few specific goals. I found most ideas fell into three categories: already done it, don't want to do it and yep, that's a great idea! The book is divided into specific chapters, including challenge yourself, enrich your body and mind, go back to nature, review your achievements, celebrate your creativity, upgrade your attitude, refresh your soul and re-evaluate your relationships. It was interesting to see which chapters I had already ticked off lots of suggestions and then other chapters I still have some work to do. Next step? Buy more copies for my friends! After that? Buy myself a bicycle!
There are many books with inspirational tid-bits that one can read. Not all is fantastic but it depends how one approaches the book. I really liked this one simply because: - it came at a time in my life where I was asking myself quite a few questions - it's good to see how many answers I have already - it's a good way to restart myself and look into certain things that have been in the back of my head for a while
it's not ground breaking but sometimes, you just need a true mirror and I think this book provides that.
I have received this book from a friend and as I don't like this type of books has been sitting on a shelf for ages. As I am bound to sitting because of a knee problem, I decided to clear that shelf and started with this book.
Some ideas are funny, some are totally outdated by now and some are uninteresting. I chose a few of the things that would be interesting to me and might think about them further, but the book closed it's journey with me and once I can walk again, it will continue its journey on the free books shelf in my town's train station.
You have to of had a very sheltered life if you didn't do half of the things in this book by the time you are forty anyway, it was OK but it wasn't well thought out.
