Angels, demons and dream worlds. A whole new level of risk. When Henry and Nikki are asked to speak to Lysrus, one of the Mentors, they suspect everything is about to change. They've only caught sight of Lysrus once before, in a blinding flash that left them wondering what kind of supernatural creature he might be. Now, they suspect they're about to enter a completely new level of experience. They couldn't be more right. When Lysrus asks them to help Rose-a girl trapped in a dream world created by guilt at her past life actions-Henry and Nikki face challenges unlike any before. Can they make Rose trust them enough to shatter the illusion keeping her from moving on in the afterlife? Do they possess the strength to go up against the dark entities working to keep Rose ensnared? Success will leave them to choose between Service in their realm or a new life together on Earth. Failure means being pulled into the very dream from which Rose herself cannot escape.
David Pandolfe is the author of the Streetlights Like Fireworks and Jump When Ready series. Reading his books, you'll soon learn that he likes writing stories about psychics, ghosts, unusual settings and characters who approach adventure with a sense of humor. He's not sure where the ghost obsession came from but he figured he might as well roll with it.
Before becoming a writer, David did a few other things. For example, he was once a bartender in Seattle, a singer/songwriter in a Los Angeles rock band and a college writing teacher in Richmond (not all at the same time, of course). These days, he lives near Richmond, Virginia, with his wife, two kids and a dog who's terrified of thunder. Not the best situation for their dog since it thunders from spring until fall in Richmond.
This story was amazing. It takes you to other realms all together. I honestly couldn't put this one down. It follows the first and second books nicely. I really do hope their are more to come, I never wanted this story to end! Please continue writing with these characters and story line. Nice job David Pandolfe!:)
The first book in this series really grabbed my interest right from the start and I immediately purchased Book 2 so I could keep reading. While awaiting Book 3 "Stepping into the Sky" I was given a copy to review. This book is a lovely finish to the trilogy! I enjoyed all the characters in all three books, even the "bad guys" were interesting and different than the usual cookie-cutter villains. I liked how this author used his own definitions for the entities in the afterlife. I read a LOT of paranormal and this is really nothing like I've read before. This is not your typical urban fantasy or paranormal romance, not at all. It's not a traditional ghost story per se. It's also NOT the usual spiritual or inspirational literature that relies on any religious doctrine. I would describe this as an "alternative afterlife adventure" and well worth the time spent getting to share this author's world. An original and fresh take on life-after-death and an interesting story with an enjoyable cast of characters. I'm so glad I took a chance on something different than my usual paranormal books and read this trilogy. Disclaimer required by law: “I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review”
I loved reading Stepping into the Sky for what it was and for what it meant. On the surface, it’s an entertaining and captivating story featuring characters I’ve grown to LOVE over the series, doing adventurous and brave things. More deeply, it’s a story about the beautiful depth of human character that drives us to help others who are desperately in need. It’s a feel-good book. Not sappy feel-good, but REAL feel-good. Can’t wait for more from David Pandolfe.
While Book 2 of this series is still my favorite, Stepping Into the Sky was wonderful as well. David Pandolfe has been added to my list of authors that I follow closely in hopes of a new book release!
I really enjoyed this book, the third in the series. I don't think there is another one but I'd very much like there to be. It doesn't feel like the end. Even just a short novella to let us know they found each other would be great!
Like the first two books, I couldn't put it down. When I thought I figured out what was going to happen, here comes another twist. The third book certainly took things to a new level. The thought of 2 people from another realm trying to get someone else out of her twisted dream world still blows my mind.
This final book in the YA series Jump When Ready was outstanding. It is truly creative, with likable characters and a plot with interesting twists. I highly recommend this trilogy for anyone who has ever wondered what might happen to us after we die.
