Laura Blodgett is enjoying her midlife 'crisis' more than the average drug commercial thinks she is. After homeschooling 7 children in partnership with her husband of 42 years (and still going strong), she has been running barefoot since age 49 or so. Her books range from how her engineer-husband built a brick oven from scratch in their backyard to children's stories in Chinese, which she is learning with the guidance of a tutor.
The pictures were nice, and it was plainly written. That said, it doesn't include actual plans or diagrams. Nobody was following any safety protocols. It looked like a high school report on how somebody built an oven for cheap. If I pay for a book, I expect more than this. It should provide well laid out plans, proper material lists, a variety of layouts or an explanation as to why this is the best oven design (hint, it's not the most efficient), and etc. All in all, I won't use this to build a backyard oven. I wish I hadn't bought it. Two stars because at least it meets the technical requirements of a book that shows how to build a backyard brick oven.
