To give you an idea of how much I like this book. . . my copy fell apart in my hands when I went to read it this time. Totally split in half, and the cover came off in little pieces, too. Guess maybe I read it more times than it could handle.

There is a bookstore in Lawrence, Kansas, that is called The Dusty Bookshelf, which specializes in older books. While on vacation I came upon this book upon which my first thoughts were: I like this cover, the name is interesting and I bet the story is about average. Glad to say that the story is more than average.

Following many vintage young adult books the story is basically about a child, her fears and her desires as well as the world delivering her not what she wants. It is a story of a family finding out just how much they mean to each other as they go through changes and to letting go of fear to help bond with one another.

The writing is short, charming and easy to read so a great book for young adults that are leaving the world of children's books for a bit older books. With puppies, books and a spirited yet emotionally realistic heroine this book is one to capture the mind for those who may come upon it.
