I won this book in a Goodreads contest in exchange for an honest review.

This book held my interest and was actually pretty good. I liked that it was three novellas because once I start a story I can't put it down. This way I read a story each night when I went to bed.

In Response To Intervention, Carolyn has just gotten her degree and landed her first teaching job as a reading interventionist. DaShon is a single father working at the same school, his hardest to provide for his son. An instant spark between them leads to some hot times and eventually they get their HEA.

In Common Core, Anita is a first year schoolteacher who still lives at home with her parents. Her mother is controlling and condescending which leads to trouble. Doug is the father of Douglas who is in Anita's class and cries a lot. It seems he has recently lost his mother in a car accident. Doug is a concerned father and often meets with Anita about Douglas and one thing leads to another. When Doug drops Anita off at home one day her mother spotted them. Her prejudice against Doug was made very apparent.

Anita decided the time had come to move out and left her parents house. She didn't know where she was going and ended up in a small motel. She called no one to let them know where she was and did not take any calls. Once Doug caught up with her they tried to find her a place to stay. I have said more than I should so you will have to read this to find out more.

The final story was Professional Development. Janice has just started her new teaching job when she is sent to a three day seminar. There she meets Dylan. He tells her that they have met before but she does not recall it. They work together at this seminar and he reveals how they know each other which goes back to their childhood. This was something she did and is not proud of and he is holding it over her head.

All these teachers work at Lester City Elementary so each story is kind of tied to the others. I give this book three and a half stars.

Ended up liking it better than I thought I would after the first chapter or two. The second story was the best developed for me. I do appreciate that the characters practice safe sex.
