I enjoyed this book. Tara's books have been so helpful to me. "Advanced Manifesting: Tibetan Buddhist Secrets for Fulfilling Your Dreams" was a good book full of wonderful explanations that goes far beyond "The Secret" did. While I think there was value to the book "The Secret," I think this book is better. It has exercises to help you discover what is best for you, how to make your dreams come true, and other helpful exercises and meditations.
Chapter 1 introduces us to the fact that we need to find a wish that will bring genuine happiness to ourselves and all beings in order for it to manifest, fulfill us, and bring us genuine happiness that isn't fleeting. Chapter 2 discusses the unconscious mind and how to harness it for making our dreams come true. Chapter 3 is the wonderful common sense chapter that describes taking action for our dream. I love how the author explains that we can use positive thinking and visualizing all that we want, but we need to use altruism and to take action for our goals to give the dream a chance to manifest. For example, if we want to publish a book, we can visualize all we want of our publication party and book tours, but we must first do the work and write the book.
Chapter 4 talks about raising our vibration. Chapter 5 discusses overcoming cravings. This talks about how attachment to our dreams, craving them, can be detrimental to their manifesting. Chapter 6 talks about dealing with the waiting time. Manifesting can happen rather soon, or take months or even years to come to fruition. This chapter explains that we must maintain our patience and to never give up. Chapter 7 talks about removing any other obstacles, and Chapter 8 is about the final step: receiving that which we have manifested.
Finally, the author goes into detail in a final chapter explaining how manifesting really works in the Universe. She explains that we create our own reality, and by accepting that, we can manifest what we want into our reality. Why do we not live in a perfect world then? Because we have other people on this planet with us whose dreams and aspirations may conflict with ours, or the Universe must cause events to align to work with everyone. We must also remember that manifesting doesn't happen immediately-immediately. It takes time for everything to come together seamlessly.
I love this author's books. They are eye-opening and fascinating. I've kept an open mind as I've read them, because they introduce concepts that I'm not familiar with, but I recommend them, and I look forward to reading more of her work. I also like the fact that she can use her training in psychology combined with her spirituality to help make this world a better place. I enjoy her writing style, and I always feel at peace when I read her work and the wisdom she shares. I received this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Not one for the rationalists, however why be closed minded about such matters? Try it with all your heart and see what happens. I liked the fundamental message about wishes being most effective when they are of benefit to others as well as yourself. Somewhat irritating however to see a rather shameless plug for Amazon subtly inserted in the text. The fact that this book is (surprise) printed by Amazon is therefore disappointing as it discredits all that Tara Springett seems to be supporting. One only has to pay mind to the awful way in which this company treats its employees to see that messages of equality and universal love are NOT congruent with such compromises borne out of self promotion.
A surprisingly good book, despite the title, looking at the plasticity of our perceived reality and how we can influence our experience, based on Tibetan Buddhist principles. Some genuinely good meditation practices are peppered throughout the text.
