I've been listening to Wire and it's offshoots since Pink Flag emerged in 1977. Those first three albums, classics all, illustrate perfectly what it means for a band to 'progress'. This book is about mainly about the music. Details about the origins of particular songs, the meaning of certain lyrics, the recording conditions, and live performances are all here. The book takes us to 1991, including all the solo material from members. If you like this fantastic band, this is for you.

Any bio of this ingenious band is welcome; this one is written by their official spokesman, Kevin Eden. It's an excellent history, punctuated with interviews with band members, that puts you right where the action is/was, and reveals all kinds of little details you might not have known. True, Wire don't explain their lyrical content in this volume, but then, Wire never explain their lyrical content.
