About the author

Wanita May grew up in the fruit belt of Ontario - St.Catharines. Crazy-happy childhood, she always has had a vivid imagination and loads of energy.

The youngest of six -- four older brothers, and a sister -- taught her at a young age to be competitive in all aspects of life.

At sixteen, she began competing in athletics (track and field) and before she turned seventeen, she was representing Canada in high jump. She continued to compete, breaking Canada's JR High Jump record (1.92m - 6' 3 1/2" for those metric-ly challenged). She attented University of Toronto, and Kansas State University - winning CIAU's and becoming All-American 6x - NCAA Indoors Runner Up + more.

But you're not interested in her athletic career - unless of course you're curious to know she stands 1.70m (5'7") and has jumped 20cm over her head on more than one occassion. She's represented Canada at the World Championships, World Jrs., won Francophone Games, and loved every minute of every competition. From the grueling workouts, the crazy weights she lifted on her back, the days she thought her lungs were going to spit out of her mouth for lack of oxygen, the travelling around the world and the opportunity to read - her favourite past time.

Life continued with her husband (a distance runner from Liverpool, UK, who she met at KSU) and then their first, then second and finally third child. Their house became full of more imagination and stories.

Wanita and her husband run an online business, dealing in antiques and collectables - particularly jewelry and porcelain (one of the business' website: www.wadeincanada.com ).

After her father passed away in 2009, from a six-year battle with cancer (which she still believes he won the fight against), she began to write again. A passion she'd loved for years, but realized life was too short to keep putting it off.

Her first book, Rae of Hope - from the Chronicles of Kerrigan - will be available October 2011 by kNight Romance Publishing.

She is currently represented by Dawn Dowdle of Blue Ridge Literary Agency. Wanita is a writer of Young Adult, Fantasy Fiction and where ever else her little muses take her.

The heroine: Rae Kerrigan - Now working for the Privy Council, Rae is partnered with Devon to protect the Crown Prince’s Fiancé who has a Tatù. A Group is determined to make sure that a Tatù person doesn’t get on the Thrown of England.

The Hero(es): Devon - he and Rae are no longer dating but have to go undercover as a couple in order to protect the future princess.

Supporting characters:
Maria - Rae’s friend who has the Tatù that she can send her thoughts to others. Rae and her can talk in their minds since Rae can mimic the Tatù and do the same.
Prince Phillip - Prince of Wales
Sarah - The future Princess of Wales. She has a Tatù that allows her to understand all languages.
Molly - Rae’s former. Her Tatù is electricity. She loves to shop acts as the stylist for Rae and Devon while they go to the parties and luncheons with the Prince and his fiancé.
Curtis - works with Maria on the communications piece of the job they are doing for the Royalty.

I liked the story in this book and as usual, the narration was perfect. However, sometimes I think Rae is an idiot. There is a plot to kidnap or kill the future princess because she has a Tatù. Rae works for the Privy Council as an agent, but for someone who never trusted anyone in previous books, in this book she trusts all kinds of things that are obviously shady and doesn’t figure out the real enemies until they basically hit her over the head.

I like the story and the characters, I just wish Rae would have at least wondered about certain shady situations instead of just going for the simplest explanation of why these things happened. Rae has been such a strong character in previous books. In this one she was strong, but just a bit dimmer.

I'm still enjoying the series but this has been my least favorite installment to date. The most off-putting creative choice to me was to basically re-write/revise what the UK's royal family was so that the heir to the throne is a 20 to 30 something I think instead of then "Prince Charles." There was no princess Diana but instead "Sarah." The names were different. I understand making the world her own, but this kept jarring me out of the planned narrative, which wasn't a good thing as far as I was concerned.

The story also had a few problems to me as well:

1. The Privy Council and Devon/Rae seemed pretty incompetent. Why would the Queen have such inexperienced people protecting the future crown princess? Why have such a small presence from the PC for that matter.

2. I'm not sure the author really meant a taser when I think (from the narrative) it seemed like a stun gun. I was able to confirm the difference in their uses, functions, and most importantly range with a 10 second google search.

3. I'm pretty sure a British Royal, one steeped in tradition, even if young, wouldn't call their fiancee "sweetie." (I could be wrong on that, but it felt odd here.)

4. They call Maria's ability all kind of different names and descriptions OTHER THAN telepathy, which the power clearly is. Why not just call it telepathy? Everyone's heard of that. Seemed another off-putting creative choice.

I'll continue with the series. I enjoy its concepts and the story. This was just a bit of a weak link in my humble opinion.

Too short and rushed, seriously lacking

A lot of typos, at one point the characters are Messed up. I feel like the author was in such a rush sentences and half thoughts are everywhere. Little things happen between the characters with no further explanation. Foreshadowing hints give away the plot too soon. I think the author needs to slow down and put more detail and time into each book rather than just putting them out so quickly. I'm soooo disappointed here. I LOVED books one and two. Three and four seem like rushed novellas. I feel like her heart wasn't in it. The fans and characters were failed these last two books.

I wanted to love this. Unfortunately it had so many errors that I started to wonder if it had been fully proof read. I even wondered if the ebook file uploaded might have been the wrong one? A character had the wrong name in a crucial scene.

The story felt a little short and I wanted more. I loved Rae of Hope and Dark Nebula. I found House of Cards a little lacking but Royal Tea even more so.

I love the story and characters in the Kerrigan Chronicles. I do hope the author slows down and allows the time it takes to craft and polish a quality story for her next book. Never mind eager fans who want the next book to read - if it's not ready then work on it until it is. The Kerrigan chronicles are entertaining and engaging - each part deserves to be fully developed as a story, thoroughly edited and proof read.

Another great read by W.J. May! The story isn't slow moving (or fast) but just right..and with each chapter you're drawn further into the mission of Rae. It's so well written that you truly understand her predicament, her emotions and her reasoning.
The story itself is a great one, who doesn't love a "save the crown" storyline, killers - royalty - a ball?
The book is amazing, leaving you wanting more and more...as usual a win by W.J. May.

Book was enjoyable, was expecting a bit more, but I guess when the main characters are under cover you can't really play around too much with the story line. It seems like the proof readers didn't do a very good job as the book was peppered with silly mistake !! However I can't wait for the new book to come out !! Hurry up Spring/Summer so I can get my next installment!!!!!

A change of scenery to London opens up the world and introduces political intrigue among the legacy families. Rae struggles with being in the spotlight and navigating elite expectations. The added complexity is welcome, though the narrative tends to over-explain some events. Nevertheless, the expansion of the Kerrigan universe is engaging, and Rae’s discomfort adds depth to her character.

I had the ebook and I also listened to some on Audible. Love that the Boxset had the first 6 books of this series. There is a total of 12 in this series and then 6 or so more with a spin-off series; which is really still this series because it’s the same main character, so there’s 12 more books to read to get the full story. Then more spin-off books with some other characters too. The narrator was good; her accent was a little weird at times, but overall she did a great job. I enjoyed the listen. It was nice having the ebook too though..

Overall, the series was entertaining and fun! Love all the powers the characters have! Some really cool tatùs (magical tattoos); healing, fire, electricity, super speed, plus so many more! Loved all of that! There’s also a super sweet romance! This is mostly YA, but there are some light adult elements in these first 6 books. I read all 6 books in a row, and I didn’t get sick of the story, so that a major plus. The story doesn’t start out very original, but it has enough unique elements throughout the series to make the book its own story. It can get a little repetitive and there were times the characters should’ve know something they found out in a previous book, but didn’t. Still overall, lots of interesting ideas going on. I’ll do a brief review of each of the books. There will probably be spoilers in this review for the previous book.

Rae and Devon are tasked by the council to work together on a mission. It’ll be difficult for Rae since she’s still heartbroken over Devon breaking up with her. He was a total butt in the last book, but there’s still a connection there. Love the missions! This one deals with some royals, so it was lots of fun seeing Rae and Devon in that type of glam world. Lots of action and entertainment! Rae is also looking into more information about what happened with her mom. There’s a possibility she may still be alive, so Rae has her friend Luke help her out with research; Devon isn’t happy. A do think the characters needed to use a bit more common sense in this one, but still a totally entertaining story. The romance is once again super sweet and I love the depth of connection involved. Heart touching.

I absolutely loved the fourth book of the Chronicles of Kerrigan series! I was a little sad that the book itself was short. But the story itself was really good and the adventure and excitement made the book an absolute page turner.

I liked the storyline and where it was leading. It actually made me laugh and I was glad to have an entertaining storyline amidst the crazy, heavy stories. I found myself laughing and being totally surprised by all the twists and turns. The emotions of the book brought me on an excellent roller coaster and I enjoyed every minute of it.

There were so many plot twists in this book that I wasn't expecting, that I found myself exclaiming out loud! Not to mention how short the book was again, but considering that, a lot happened throughout the book and the story kept flowing. This 4th book gets a full 5 star rating over the 3rd book simply because I liked the storyline flow of this book better. Now that I have read this book and can compare/continue the storyline, I realize that the third book played an important role as a stepping stone to move the story along and set it up as needed be. That's an important thing to keep account of because even though I didn't like the flow of the third book, it was just preparing the rest of the story.

Back to this book; it's excellent quick read! I overall love this series and what it's becoming! I highly recommend this series if you like action-packed books with good a good storyline and lovable/relatable characters. There's so much to the stories when you read the books and everything is so well written that you become heavily immersed. I am four books deep into the series and all I can do is recommend it.

Just as the previous posts on this series, you can find most of my thoughts on the writing style, my commitment to the story and the world that the author created in my post, Rae of Hope. I won’t be repeating them so you can go and read them there. The storyline was good. I knew the bad guy would be someone she trusts. I half expected it to be Maria but wasn’t sure. It could have been Curtis as well. I like how May details the fights and the surroundings, it helps me to get the picture in my head.

I was mostly kept guessing in the story and was happy when Devon confessed how he feels about her when she was half unconscious. Maybe that rock-solid professional demeanour is starting to slip. Rae is growing up and maturing nicely. She has so much internal monologue happening due to all the questions she has about her past, present, and future. This means I know exactly how she feels most of the time which helps me to relate to her very well. She does tend to irritate me sometimes though, but that is normal.

OMG, Rae has turned undercover spy type girl. Going undercover to protect a Tatued princess..the problem..her undercover boyfriend is her recently ex boyfriend. Not complicated, right?! But she becomes even more surprised 😮 when her friends are also part of this mission, especially Miss Fashionista, Molly. Molly has too much fun playing dress up on Rae and Devon.

Although Rae struggles a bit with keeping up her undercover role, she turns out to be be very good at protecting. The things she helps to uncovers the bad people. Her new powers.

What got me was, just like the House Of Cards book, the ending. Is her mom alive or not. I really need to know!!!!

With each new book in The Chronicles of Kerrigan we are introduced to new characters and this one is no different. Here we meet the Royal family more specifically Sarah who has a tatu.
In this story its one adventure after another but the best surprise is that Molly is back and working for the PC.
I listened to the audible version of this book and as usual I loved it. I just love the voice the narrator uses for Molly, somehow it just adds to the character.
Again another great story in this series that I just can't put down. I Loved it.

Not able to put it down. In starting I really felt very bad for Rae as she have to live with Devon her ex boyfriend for whom she still felts but at last when Devon said "you are my heart whole heart" to Rae, This line is so much lovely that while reading the book I smiled after reading that line and read it may be five times again and again .now I think they may come together once again and also wish they never broke up again in the serie . I also wish that Rae may find her mother and also find out what happened at that night when she lost her father and maybe her mother.

I enjoyed this instalment in the Chronicles of Kerrigan series. This storyline flows quickly and smoothly as the author weaves together a mystery, suspense, romance and the coming of age components. The characters are interesting and engaging complete with strengths and weaknesses. I enjoy how the story is told from the main character’s point of view as you get a glimpse into how she really feels compared with what she tells the other characters. I look forward to reading more about her and the interesting world she lives in.

Well, I'm still reading. It's very short and rushed. Not quite as 'skippy' as the earlier books, but then this book only covered 2 weeks, so there's not much to skip. Not sure why they have been so split. Not sure if I'd be spending money on individual books if they hadn't come on a free bundle. On to the next one... But it concerns me I just saw bk11... pretty sure I won't be making it that far.

The last few books in this series have dropped the post-climax sum up, and have instead simply stopped, practically mid sentence. They are starting to read more like a TV episode than a full book. This installment didn't have a single completed story arc. If I wasn't reading this as a box set, I would probably be upset at how it just stops. Rae is still a great character, and is the reason I keep reading.

Fun engaging storyline reminiscent of Harry Potter magic. However you don't get to hear of the actual classes and information she learns at the pseudo school of music and this was the biggest disappointment. You can't help but compare it to Harry Potter with questions left at how exactly their society is run.

Plenty of tension but it is not overly drawn out. Plenty of action as well. The primary relationships continue to be in turmoil. What kept me from giving this 5 stars has to do with the murky nature of the ending of the mission. It simply was unsatisfying to me.

Action-packed. Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Scary. Twisted. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.

I listened to the audio rendition of this book.
For a society created by the king in Tudor time, the Royals seem to have v forgotten their ties and why the society was formed.
This is a dramatic episode, with the Royal family being caught in the crossfire of those with ink against those that have been put in place to prevent tutus from taking the thrown.

Best book so far. I like the storyline and plot however I just don’t like the main character at all for some reason she just rubs me wrong. The main characters inner dialogue is very annoying and selfish and I find the authors habit of rerunnng through things that have already happened not just from book to book but also from chapter to chapter at times makes me impatient.

Royal Tea by W.J. May was a great continuation of The Chronicles of Kerrigan Series. This is book four of the great series. The Queen of England requested that the Privy Council help protect her son's fiance. Her life is threatened due to a secret no one knows about. This was a great read and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

3.5 ⭐️ best of the series so far.
I actually felt that something happened in this book and it wasn’t constant repetition. There is still a lot of padding and in my opinion the series so far could be consolidated into 2 books.

I own another 2 books in the series so I will continue with the series to see what happens.
