Felt Hat: Joseph Beuys

Rate this book
This atypical publication is an authentic theater script taken from the book bearing the same title The Felt Hat - Joseph Beuys - a life told by Lucrezia De Domizio Durini. The authoress eliminates the story of the life and works of the man-artist, she disposes of the symbolic materials which impregnate the whole work of the great German artist and, by way of a spectacular multimedia stage theatricalness, she poses the philosophy of Beuys as the primary basis of the entire piece. The Hypothesis of Stage-Design is aimed at a de-constructive operation of theatrical architectural methodologies.

Joseph Heinrich Beuys (/bɔɪs/ BOYSS, German: [ˈjoːzɛf ˈbɔʏs]) was a German artist, teacher, performance artist, and art theorist whose work reflected concepts of humanism, sociology, and anthroposophy. He was a founder of a provocative art movement known as Fluxus and was a key figure in the development of Happenings.

Beuys is known for his "extended definition of art" in which the ideas of social sculpture could potentially reshape society and politics. He frequently held open public debates on a wide range of subjects, including political, environmental, social, and long-term cultural issues.
