Minerva Banks was proud to take on the responsibility of being an Antagonist. Yet she wasn't prepared for the consequences of doing so. It isn't long before Minnie finds herself being torn apart by everything and everyone. It seems that everyone is against her. Her friends. Her enemies. Herself. Everyone is determined to cause her to crumble to a pile of ash. It's going to take everything that Minnie has to rise from those ashes.
These books always leave me wanting more. It is an incredibly frustrating (but amazing) feeling of anxiously anticipating the next one.
Where the first book left readers with the general idea of how things were more complicated than a simple superhero story, this second book is really where the mythos is expanded upon, though there is still very much the feeling that there are some things Minnie is still being kept in the dark about.
The highest praise I can probably give this book is that I started reading it when I woke up this morning, and I didn't get out of bed until I finished it. It was extremely easy to read and I couldn't help being swept up in the story.
If you enjoyed the first Antagonists book, then you should definitely pick this one up.
And if you haven't read the first one, what are you doing here? Go and read it immediately! Then come back and read this one.
I LOVED THIS BOOK. Book two was definitely better than book one. There's always that thing, where you're afraid to read the sequel, because what if it doesn't measure up? It measured up. It surpassed. It also gave me a handy dandy anchor statement, and an idea for my next tattoo. Idk, guys, if you like magic and unicorns and adorable children and angsty interpersonal relationships and main characters who don't always know how to do the right thing and SO MANY PUNS, go read it. You'll like it.
Longer than the first, with just as many lessons in it. Points for character development and each one having a personality all their own. Still great to see a first person perspective book where things actually happen off scene, the other characters don't just freeze in time when the focus is off them.
Really great book! I found this series and I'm absolutely in love!! I would recommend this to any people that are disabled or are of mixed or different races. It's a great book for any age but was written for young adults. 100% recommended, please read this!!
Good character development, interesting take on an old legend and presented well. Backgrounds were expanded on and there were some excellent moments of poignancy. I really enjoyed it :)
The second book was just as good as the first! Minerva and Victor are summoned to prove that she belongs in the Brotherhood of Merlin. There's a whole lot of character development and a bunch of history to the character of Victor. The way the characters are portrayed speaks volumes to the author's ability and the plot was strong throughout the book. I especially loved the way Victor treats his brother, despite Minerva's black and white view on the matter. I read this in a few hours, devouring every word and am already reading book three. Loving this author and will be keeping an eye on them from now on! Highly recommended!
Again, a cute story. Not as much preaching on social issues as the first. However, I didn't like that the author turned King Arthur into an antagonistic, cruel, and hateful person, the same with Guinevere. As a great lover of Arthurian literature and mythology, I found this very disturbing as I read the story. Also, in many Athurian legends, The Lady of the Lake, the one who gave Arthur Excalibur, is the ruler of Avalon, and is not Nimue who imprisoned Merlin.

I find myself desperately wanting to live this series. I like it, especially Minerva who's the lone character I'm able to connect with, but the writing style makes it hard to connect with the others. still it's a fun read that draws me into buying the next one because it's such an interesting concept.
