The Silver Jester

Rate this book
The vigilante crime thriller continues as the players in the New Orleans crime network slowly reveal themselves. At the mercy of the French Quarter King’s orders, the Black Jester spins out of control as he adheres to a schedule of policing the streets, gaining reconnaissance, and inflicting mayhem when the need arises. The Blue Jester fears his friend is hallucinating when he claims to see the fleeting image of an Army soldier everywhere he goes. But hallucinations turn out to be actual sightings of a new key player in the The Silver Jester. The Silver Jester is in town for one specific Rose White. Neither Hell nor high water will stop him from getting to her, and he is prepared to wage war on anyone standing in his way. Proving to be perhaps the most lethal member of the team, the Black Jester may have met his match in both ruthlessness and purpose. The question will they team up to save her, or will they destroy each other? Meanwhile, hostage Rose White gets an inside view of the Gold Jester’s mind, and learns about the Kings and the birth of the mission. In the process, she becomes self-aware of a burning inner desire to join the Jesters’ fight against corruption and atrocities. And, a frustrated Detective Jenkins struggles to digest his involuntary meeting with the Jesters and feels even more compelled to bring them down, but decides not to discount the Jesters’ warning that a lethal entity within the city’s government seethes with corruption.

WOW WOW WOW -- OMG, I can not believe how awesome The Silver Jester book is. I was asked if I would be interested in reading The Black Jester (book 1) and The Silver Jester (book 2) written by Emily Ford. Having never read anything by Emily Ford, I said "SURE". (I love reading things by new authors to me!) I can now honestly say that I love the way that Emily Ford writes!!! Now, I just ask this "WHEN WHEN WHEN is the next book in the series coming out???"

If you have not yet read The Black Jester, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read it before you read The Silver Jester!!!! The Silver Jester starts right where The Black Jester ends -- with Rose White (as we know her in the book) on the run from an abusive mafia husband. She runs to New Orleans. Her story of trying to stay hidden from her husband and things that are happening in New Orleans is amazing. I don't write spoilers - so I will say no more about the story itself. I will warn you that this book is short - but it is a definite "I can NOT put this book down" type book!!! Oh yeah, next warning is that there is a definite cliffhanger at the end!!!

I received a complimentary copy of The Silver Jester in exchange for my honest review. All opinions shared are 100% my own.

This story just keep on getting better and better. I really am enjoying it. The pace of the story works and putting together the different characters and their actions is interesting.
Adding Rose's brother into the mix was a nice twist. I enjoyed getting to see a glimpse of who he is. I hope we get to hear more about him in the next book and why he left Rose.
Rose is growing stronger. She just keeps getting put into tough situations but she isn't backing down either.
This story has action and I liked it more then the first.
I really cannot wait to read the next book in this story. I suggest you read this series. I couldn't put the book down once I got started.
There is a cliff at the end though which I am not too happy that I have to wait for.
Overall, great story. I love that it is unique and different. You take a real event and add a little but of fiction to that event and then come up with your own story to what happens after. I really love that.

The Silver Jester, Kings of New Orleans book 2 by Emily Ford
4 stars

This story is becoming more intriguing as it goes on. Rose is more connected to so many parts of what is going on, than I think she even understands. As the Silver Jester comes into the picture the dynamics change even more. Each of the Jesters seem to have an interesting back story, with so many secrets they want to keep hidden. I am so interested in seeing where this goes next. I liked this book, and think it is even better than the first.
