Betrayed is an Intriguing Romantic Suspense Written By Bestselling, Award-Winning Author R.M. Alexander.
Cami Lockhart has spent a lifetime planning to build and run a tiger sanctuary, and after years of saving, she finally has enough capital to make her dream come true.
Resistance from the townspeople gradually turned to acceptance once she presents her carefully laid plans for the sanctuary. Even Paul Schotter, a lawyer from town who handed her the summons to appear in front of the town council comes around. But it was her parents who were dead set against their daughter’s dream, no matter how many times she begged them to try and understand.
But with the emotional support of her best friend and ranch hand, Alex Reynolds, who’d always been there for her, Cami is finally able to move forward and open the sanctuary.
In love with Cami for years, Alex has always been hoping that Cami would see past her dream of the sanctuary and want something more, so when she goes out on a few dates with Paul, Alex tries putting his feelings on the backburner.
But then tragedy strikes and the newly acquired tigers living in the sanctuary become seriously ill. When Cami discovers it was foul play at work, she’s devastated. Who would want to destroy the sanctuary badly enough that they would stoop so low as to try and kill the tigers?
Who would betray her? Will she be able to keep the sanctuary open?
You’ll just have to read the story to find out!
I really enjoyed reading this unique, fast paced story filled with a lot of well-researched as well as interesting facts about the running of a tiger sanctuary. I won’t give away any spoilers but there are some surprises at the end.
I highly recommend this for readers who love well-plotted romantic suspense featuring a strong heroine. A great story!
Really good enjoyable story. I wasn't sure how much I'd like this story as I don't like cats. Yes I'm one of them lol however I still really enjoyed this story and I ended up reading this in one sitting. The author did a great job with this. It certainly had enough suspense to keep me gripped.
Cami had a dream that she wanted to follow. She had her best friend from grade school, Alex, as a ranch hand. She had her other best friend, Liz, to help her with her accounting book.
Alex was Cami's best friend, bodyguard, ranch hand and all around guy. He was always there for her whenever she needed anything.
Cami's dream was to start a tiger sanctuary. She had worked hard and saved her money to start this. Alex and the other ranch hands were working hard to get everything done so she could start getting tigers. She has expected a fight at first from the town folk but that quickly was put to rest after she had a meeting with them. The real threat was her parents. They didn't like that their only daughter was doing this. They would show up and tell her quite frequently about their concerns.
As Cami was starting to get things going with the sanctuary someone was trying to sabotage her efforts and sanctuary. As she was trying to take care of her tigers and figure out who would doe this she starts having feelings she never thought she would. How is she suppose to deal with her feelings? Does she get into a relationship or does she run from one? Who is trying to shut down the sanctuary?
This book wasn't just a story about a man and a woman. It was the love of animals as well. Sometimes we forget that we aren't the only species who need love and attention. Animals are just like us that face many hardships.
I enjoyed this book because it was different. Nothing from what I expected. It has romance that we all enjoy, but it goes deeper than that. The love and devotion you see Cami give the wild cats is amazing. I felt the pain she felt when danger came knocking. I cried when she fought to be strong. I felt like just reaching through the iPad and hurt someone when things went south. I am glad Cami is a tough cookie who wanted answers. I was amazed by thus character and what she faced.
Granted we had a handsome hero who was there to support her. Alex was the friend she depended on, her rock, and the one guy she always ran too. He knew what he wanted and dealt with the chance that he might never get, but his devotion was so great that with time he was rewarded. This two characters where amazing I won't lie, but the cats are who stole my heart.
So if your looking for something unexpected, heartfelt, and you love animals? Give this book a read. I am glad I did.
So excited to read a book by an author who will be visiting my library to sign her books on Oct. 7th. I loved the subject of this book, providing a sanctuary for tigers who are in need of a safe place to live. I hadn't thought about all the planning that would go into providing a sanctuary for tigers, very interesting. The book had an element of suspense with a bad guy too. I wasn't able to figure out who the bad guys were either. I love it when I can't figure out ahead of time who the bad guys are. I am looking forward to reading another title by this author.
I loved this story and half expected the female main character Cami to be one of those gals who are a little forlorn with love and the classic cliché romance.
That was not this book. It was endearing, passionate, intimate, and hardly a damsel in distress book. I gave it 5 stars because it kept my attention, was well written, and I loved the story and the uniqueness of it. Loved it! I cannot wait to read more from R.M. Alexander.
A very sweet boo with a little it of romance. Cami is so determined to get it passed in her town to run a refuge for abused cats. Upon getting an ok she takes in few and something horrible starts happening. Alex is her right hand man and is always their to help catch her and pick up the pieces. Who cold be so callus and try to ruin her refuge. this book has some suspense in it and and so oh no moments. A good clean read.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review.
First time I have read anything my R M Alexander and also with a Big Cat theme, taking up as much room as the hero and heroine, I mean that in a good way!
This is a story about friendship being at the forefront of a relationship and the fear factor of loosing the friendship should romance be the order of the day.
With the thrill of her dream coming to fruition, Cami does not have time for a romantic relationship, and does her best to keep it that way. We meet her as she is preparing to go into battle with the local towns people who are against her opening a Big Cat sanctuary.
We also meet Alex for the first time, at the court house to offer her support.
She goes head to head with a local Guy, Paul, who has a petition to shut the Sanctuary before it opens. As she proved why she is a winner.
Paul decides that he is very impressed with Cami and with how she stood up to the pressure of proving herself.
Whilst Alex has some deep feelings for Cami, they have been friends for a very long time, and Alex appears to own his feelings, whereas Cami is still in denial.
The storyline is great, with the build up of all the character, and what part they play with the set up of the sanctuary, and the friendship between them and Cami.
I loved how everyone knew and tried to tell Cami about Alex's feelings for her.
I had a sneaky feeling Tank was not all he seemed, and was really surprised that he was in cahoots with her parents, certainly not expecting that.
I'm glad Cami had Alex to support her, even when she tried to date someone else, but she came to her senses, and every time it looked like she was going to give Alex a Chance, something got in the way.
I felt sorry for Alex at times , but so pleased he didn't take up his threats to move on!!!
I loved Cami's relationships with the Big Cats, and also how she was with Liz, her bestie. Her relationship was very strained with her parents but thankfully she had the love of her friends to see her through the harder times.
I am glad the truth came out after all the threats Cami received, and that she eventually accepted what her heart desired.
I enjoyed The Right One a great deal. In fact, I stayed up all night and read it "cover to cover". It is rare for a story to keep me that interested, but this one certainly did. I see a wonderful future ahead for Robin (R.M.)!
This was an easy and quick read - meaning it flowed very well. At no time was I pausing to try to remember tidbits such as who a secondary character was. The story and writing was well done without going over the top. This made the time spent reading the story rather enjoyable for me. The style reminded me of when I would read the romance included in my mother's Woman's Weekly magazine.
I would LOVE to give this book a 5 stars, but there were a few little things that is keeping me from giving it a perfect review. If only 4.5 was an option!
*Spoilers Possible*
I couldn't understand why no one ever considered installing security cameras. In fact, I would have expected them to already exist considering the other security measures that were taken. The addition of them could have also been woven into adding suspicion to ***** and from ****.
I would have liked to have seen a little more information given about Alex. His feelings were made very clear. So sweet! :) I was left curious about him in other ways tho. What was he doing while Cami was at University? Did he attend as well or was he just hanging out waiting for her to return so they could start the Sanctuary? I honestly don't remember if his physical description was given. I remember hearing Cami was a blonde around 3 times.. but I don't know much about Alex's appearance.
Finally, I wish Cami had experienced just a tad bit more of a pull towards Alex "in that way" and caught herself surprised.
Again.. I loved this story and am looking forward to more from this writer!
Its been Cami's dream to have a sanctuary for felines , well felines of a large nature actually. As you can imagine the locals have questions, concerns and fears but that's all settled after a meeting between town folk and Cami.
Cami's folks annoy me , instead of support and encouragement they keep bringing her down! Hell if she were my daughter I'd be working my fingers to the bone to help her realise her dream ,its a noble cause , my parental heart would just burst with pride.
Alex, Cami's best friend is also her right Hans man ,can it VP swim into something more... I hope so ....
What was it about this book that I enjoyed ? Well her love ,devotion, commitment and dedication to the cays was a big draw card , being a cat lover myself , I have 6 domesticated cats and about 20 wild cats around the farm that I feed in a daily basis. So naturally I have my Kleenex moments when her cats and her dreams are threatened , I feel the fear and anxiety.
One thing I must say about Cami is she may have a soft heart where her cats are concerned but don't underestimate her and mistake compassion for weakness because that she most definitely is not !
Thank you to RM Alexander for the awareness she raises to the plight of abused animals and to that of those who end up as exotic pets . I can't believe how cruel mankind can be animals let alone each other!
RM Alexander not only manages to give us a wonderful romantic suspense but makes us aware of our responsibility to love and protect animals who otherwise may be abused and mistreated. It is sad to realize that this abuse takes place everyday and I applaud this author for bringing just one example of this to the forefront. This was a riveting and poignant story with many powerful seeds of awareness planted to teach us the plight of these majestic animals! I finished this story wanting to learn more about what organizations were out there like The Lockhart Sanctuary. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I have the two previous books written by this author....I look forward to reading what she publishes in the future!
I don't think this book was a good fit for me, it was a good story and all but it didn't meet my personal needs that I like in a book. It was too sweet and Alex just needed to grow some balls and make a move, I mean the boy just sat there all upset and jealous, "he growled under his breath, struggled to gain composure as Cato began pacing around the den. Alex knew the cat sensed his mood. "What's she doing kissing him?" Cami that girl sometimes needed a slap in the head to clue in on both the situations with Alex and another one. As I said it was good but it just didn't fit me personally.
I struggled with this book and almost gave up pretty early on due to editing issues - character names were mixed up around the 10 to 15% complete mark and it made it hard to follow. I had a difficult time relating to the heroine. She has a pretty good life, but refuses to see what's right in front of her. She pushes and pulls with the hero so many times that it honestly made me not like him all that much either for putting up with it. None of the characters seemed really fleshed out to me, so it was hard to get invested in the issues they were dealing with.
I enjoyed reading this story. At first I didn't think I would get into the story but I was wrong because I kept reading and couldn't stop. This is such a cute story and if you are looking for some hot kinky sex then this book is not for you. You're going to read about love, betrayal, passion for cats and family. I was felt like I was a supporter for the sanctuary and would fight right next to everyone to protect what was right. A very heartfelt book with a happy ending. Great job author.
I loved this clean read because it wasn't stereotypical in the least. It involved a love triangle and it abruptly changed focus so the reader expects first one man then another to win. It is set in a cat sanctuary which was also fascinating and unique. If you like romance but want a different feel than normal this is the book for you. What a refreshing story!
A story of a whole different aspect. The love of saving animals. Sweet in every way possible. Lessons to learn. Hardships to over come. But will Cammie do it? Can she do what she needs to? You don't want to miss out on this book!
Cami is trying to make her dream come true. Her best friend Alex is right by her side. Others are trying to ruin her dream. Will she succeed? Will she open herself up and see that love has been there all along?
Cami dreams of starting a sanctuary for abused and confiscated cats. She's very passionate about it and goes against many people to continue with her dream. Alex adores Cami. He has for most of his life. He will do whatever it takes to help her succeed in her dream. But can he make her realize that they are more than just a great team and best friends?
I loved this book! It was beautiful and very informative. I felt all the emotions that I was supposed to feel. I did get a little frustrated with Cami's behavior now and then, but I got why she was being the way she was. I adored her. I adored all the characters. I even felt like I was connected with the three best friends.
The narrator did a really great job with this as well. I didn't really care for her voices for the males, but she didn't do a horrible job. I'd definitely listen to more books narrated by her.
I fully recommend this book. I recommend all the books by this author. Her books are clean and wholesome. They are also action-packed and full of suspense. I am always on the edge of my seat when I'm reading her books.
