Don't Blackmail the Vampire

Rate this book
A paranormal category romance from Entangled's Covet imprint… What's a little blackmail between consenting adults? Rachel Davis will do anything to get her sister out of a bad relationship with her fiancé. Even if it involves a few fibs, a little breaking-and-entering, and blackmailing the fiancé's potential boss, Charles, for his help. So what if the handsome Charles happens to be a vampire? Charles Wright has found the perfect way to trap the man threatening his brother's wife: cozy up to him, get invited along on the skiing trip, and then search for incriminating evidence. How much better that audacious but gorgeous Rachel is just as eager to nail the bastard. As far as he's concerned, there's nothing wrong with a little blackmail between two consenting adults. Especially when it's time for Rachel to pay up.

Don't blackmail the Vampire Tiffany Allee

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

I've read several of Tiffany’s books now, and always enjoy the light-hearted, fun stories she produces. Having read and liked Don't bit the Bridesmaid, I wanted to read this. Noah from the first book has two brothers, and its Charles who’s featured in this one, trying to find out who is threatening Noah’s wife.

Rachel, such a great girl, she's worried about her sisters fiancé – he's a sleaze, but Kirsten can't seem to see it. She thinks she might be able to use the trip to somehow show her just what a jerk he is. So far though she hasn't any ideas how – then she meets Charles. He's feeding from a woman at the rear of the restaurant/bar area outside. He confidently tells her to ignore what she sees, and she promptly replies to him ...he's shocked, the Vampire mojo doesn't work on her, and it could be a real problem. He doesn't want her screaming “vampire, vampire” to everyone. They come to an agreement though, which leads to some very humour incidents.
Charles isn't really afraid she'll blackmail him, but he is intrigued by her, and its not long before they find themselves getting closer, very much closer, in her bed closer!

Rachel can't quite believe what she's doing, but Charles is hot, a great lover and she thinks why not have a holiday fling with him? He seems so normal she keeps forgetting he's not, that he's a vampire. Of course its never that simple, and when things come out, secrets and deceptions, set-ups and heartbreak, she feels lost.
Its a great fun read, sexy and humorous, and a great addition to the first novel. There's another brother and of course Rachel's sister Kirsten so I'm hoping there’s more novels to come. If you want a fun read that isn't too deep and heavy this is perfect.
Stars: Four, another winner from Tiffany.

This is out NOW!!!

This was fun! I read the first book in the series, Don't Bite the Bridesmaid, and was pleased to see more of Ms. Allee's vampires. Rachel's sister is engaged to the jerk from the first book, Brent, and Rachel wants him gone. He's still a jerk, by the way. But Kristen was the catalyst that broke Alice and Brent up from the first book and she feels if she doesn't make this relationship work, well, that would make the heart fail be all for nothing. In case you're wondering, that's not a good thing!

Charles has been sent by Noah, Alice's true love from the first book, as a spy to see if Brent is the person sending threats to Alice. Now, a bit of a plot point here. Noah and Alex sent Charles without all of the information. I'd think that if they were sending him to spy, they should have given him early access to ALL of the information they had. They didn't, well, not until it helped the plot out a bit. It's a small quibble, but a quibble none-the-less.

Charles and Rachel did quite a lot of repeating why they were bad for each other. I got it after the first couple times.

Which is not to say this wasn't fun. It was. There was snark, there was steam, there were VAMPIRES! Fun, indeed!

This one has whet my appetite for more. Alex needs a book and I'm looking forward to hearing more about Alice's brother. He was left at the altar by a vampire fiancee and we need to hear more about that, for sure.

Ms. Allee has an intriguing vampire reality here. I definitely want more.

More Reviews Here: Readers Live A Thousand Lives

This series is just turning out to be so quick and delightful. It is just a ton of fun and such quick reads. I always love a good vampire read and this delivers just that. However, it also has a very contemporary feel to it. So it reads like a good contemporary, but has just enough paranormal flair to make it fun.

Rachel and Charles made a good pair. They complemented each other well and just worked well together. I liked how they just felt drawn to each other despite neither one ever wanting a relationship previously. It was very cute to watch them fall for one another.

I liked how their relationship began because of a mutual dislike and need to get back at the same person but grew into more. It was an arrangement that worked out better than either one could have hoped for. I loved how their relationship was relatively easy and low on the angst. The drama didn’t drag on too long and really we just got to watch them fall for each other, which I really enjoyed. They had some great banter and were fun to watch.

I also really loved seeing Noah and Alice again. One of my biggest complaints with Don’t Bite The Bridesmaid was that I felt like the story was still a bit open, it concluded but I wanted just a bit more. Well, this one closed everything up pretty well. I liked getting to see them further into their relationship and see where it is headed.

Vampires will forever be my favorite paranormal creature and I will never tire of them, so this was right up my alley. I highly recommend this one to paranormal lovers like myself. It is quick and fun and is a great escape for a few hours.

Rachel Davis has a plan, not a very well defined one, but she wants her sister to break up with her jerk of a fiance. Of course nothing goes as Rachel plans, especially when she sees Charles Wright sucking a woman's next fangs and all.

Charles is planning to trap the same man for threatening his brother's wife. With Rachel thrown in the mix he may have a better chance, but Rachel is throwing Charles for a loop. She doesn't react to his vampiric talents and his attraction to Rachel is growing with every moment he spends with her.

Humorous paranormal story that will thrill readers. Loved that Rachel was quirky and that Charles was off his game a bit with Rachel. I will definitely go back and read the first book by this talented author. Look forward to reading more in the future.

Can you really Blackmail someone when they are willing and are planning on using you? That's the quandary of "Don't Blackmail the Vampire", The second in the Sons Of Kane Novel series. The first was "Don't Bite The Bridesmaid". There is a very slight problem with the references of previous events that are mentioned in "Don't Blackmail the Vampire". If possible I would recommend reading book one first. That having been said I myself will be looking to obtain a copy of "Don't Bite The Bridesmaid" to read just because this book was so interesting that I want to read more.

Rachel Davis is desperate to get her sister away from her fiance, Brent (first introduced in Don't Bite The Bridesmaid", and the bad relationship they were in. Charles Wright is using Rachel as a cover to watch the man that is threatening his brother's fiance, Brent again, and get the evidence to trap him.

Family loyalty is the motivation of the two main characters. Both are willing to do whatever is necessary to protect their families from the threat of Brett. Human or Vampire, there is no difference. Charles and Rachel are both strong independent personalities who are use to taking care of others. When threats to their family come to light neither is the type to step back and let someone else take care of the problem. They are so well suited to one another if they will only step back from their objectives to see it.

If you are looking for a fast paced romance with a touch of suspense then you need to check out the works of Tiffany Allee's Son's Of Kane series. They are easy quick reads with plots that will hold your interest from the first line to the last. Pick up a copy and if you have not read Tiffany Allee before then you are in for a treat and you will have a new name added to your favorite author's list.

I will tell you what whenever I read this author I am never disappointed which happily still happens to be the case when I read this one. It is funny what we will do for our siblings if you happen to have any which I do and could totally relate to this when I am introduced to Rachel. While on this trip she gets some when she catches Charles the other person on their trip in a indiscretion he much rather keep quiet especially since he can not do it by the normal methods of suggestion. Little does she know till later he too wants to gather some dirt on her sister's fiance because someone is messing with one of their own Alice and that someone could very well be Brent. Funny thing about blackmail it always has a way of backfiring or not going the way the users intend it too. Not being a nasty type of blackmailer Rachel will get more than she bargains for in a delightful way I am thinking. After a incident on the slopes where Charles rescues her things will go in a different direction then either would of planned or thought they would. As you are taken along with these two in the plot of going after Brent it is pretty good riding. Funny too how you never know what you might like until you have tried it or would care for either which Alice will discover concerning Charles. She also helps everyone out with a answer on Charles quest that really saves the day also. Funny how pretending can have a way of biting you in the butt like it will for Charles and Rachel. That is the yummies in this book that come with this good read. The ins and out of this relationship grow as they head toward their objective. Rachel gets hers but at what cost? Charles gets his answer for Alice but at what reward? The enjoyment is the reading of all of this is if you think of it, it is a original storyline because could a human really blackmail a vampire ha ha. Love how everything comes together at the end also. Received a arc for a honest review.

The second book in the Sons of Kane series is a captivating read. Rachel Davis will do anything to save her sister from a bad relationship with her fiancé including blackmailing said fiancé’s boss, Charles into helping her, who just happens to be a vampire. Charles is on a mission to find the man responsible for threatening his brother’s wife, the mission just so happens to coincide with helping Rachel. What’s a little blackmail between consenting adults?

This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps the readers well entertained throughout with lots of intrigue, drama, humor and romance. The author paints vivid images of the scenes and events with well written descriptions and details that capture the imagination. The strong compelling characters are charismatic, easily related to and draw the reader deeper into the story and have them wanting to know more.

The attraction between Rachel and Charles radiates heat from every page and the sex scenes are hot enough to melt all the snow and ice at the ski resort where the story takes place. Rachel captures the heart with her loyalty and determination to save her sister from a broken heart, but her past is certainly clouding her judgment and causes some problems in the relationship and the sexy vampire Charles also grabs some heartfelt emotion when his soft side has him rescuing Rachel. Together they send sparks flying through the mountains with their snarky and humorous banter as they try to ambush the fiancé.

I found this story to be enjoyable and entertaining with lots of humorous scenes and dialogue, intriguing missions, steamy passion, charming characters and some twist that kept me guessing. I was unable to put the book down until I finished reading the very last word and I can’t wait to read the next one.

I am loving this series by Tiffany Allee. She makes us fall in love with her leading vampire men! You will fall in love with the characters and the story line until the very end!!!

Rachel is shy, reserved and doesn't trust men. She thinks she doesn't have the looks to catch a man. When a man hits on her and she dismisses him things change for her and she does something she never does... blackmailing this sexy man!?

Charles is on an important mission to help Alice and his brother Noah. He sees the interesting Rachel and she intrigues him, more than anyone has done in a long time. But he has a job to do, but gets blackmailed by Rachel..

I loved Charles! I think he's a great vampire! He's funny, humorous and a caring man. He definitely cares for his family and his brother and Alice. He will do anything to help protect his family, just like Rachel is doing.. which is why in a sense he is helping her. I loved how he got her, wanted to make her smile and all the little things he did! ... Oh and man is he SEXY!

Rachel.. I sympathized with her and enjoyed having her blackmail Charles with his help. I enjoyed watching her care about him, despite all her man/relationship reservations. She's the perfect match for him.. if she could only see so.

We do get to see Noah and Alice a bit in this book, which is wonderful. I loved them in book 1 and am glad we got to see them as well in this book....

oh and that end....
I loved it! It has me VERY eager for the next book! I can't wait!! <3

If you love suspense, SEXY vampires and family loyalty you will fall in love with this second installment of the SONS OF KANE SERIES by Tiffany Allee!!

Once again the author has introduced a twist from the average vampire books and I Loved It!

This time she shares Charles and Rachel's tale. The great thing is characters from the previous book make an appearance. The whit and plot these characters provide will definitely entertain and have you wanting more. Charles is on a spying mission on Brent, to see if he is the one sending threats to his brother Noah's fiancee. He meets Rachel while inserting himself into a skiing vacation with their group to prove or disprove Brent is their culprit. Lust inspires between them even though Rachel refuses to acknowledge it until she catches him in a compromising position and uses it to her advantage. The chemistry between these two is perfect. A girl can only hold out for so long. Humor..heat...and so much more.

Don’t Blackmail the Vampire is the sequel to Don't Bite the Bridesmaid. As the titles indicate, this series is a fairly lighthearted take on vampires and paranormal romance.

Not that there isn’t some skullduggery involved, but it’s the good old-fashioned human kind. We’re just as capable as vampires of being rotten, with or without sharp fangs.

The fun thing about this series is that the existence of vampires may be a general secret, but it’s not specifically secret--the heroines in both books know perfectly well that vamps exist, because they know someone who nearly married one.

But I said this is a sequel, because the characters in this story were all introduced in the first book, and the story directly follows the last one. Or it appears to.

In Don’t Bite the Bridesmaid, Alice asks her hunky neighbor to be her pity date at her sister’s wedding. He’s taking pity on her because her sister is marrying her ex’ brother, and said ex is a slimy arse who she caught cheating on her with her ex-best friend.

Her neighbor Noah is the vampire in this equation, and the pity date turns out to be true love after all.

But all is not well; someone is threatening Alice by phone and email, and with specific knowledge of vampires. Everyone suspects her ex, because he’s just that slimy.

And that’s where this story comes in, because someone needs to get to the bottom of the death-threats, and Noah’s brother Charles elects himself as the charmer to charm the slime. But Charles isn’t the only one who wants to nail Brant for his sliminess, so he joins forces with Rachel, the sister of Brant’s new girlfriend, who just so happens to be that ex-best friend of Alice’s that he cheated with.

Everything follows from the first story. Except for Charles and Rachel. Rachel knows Brant is sleazy and slimy, but can’t convince her sister. So she “coerces” Charles to help her, by threatening to reveal his vampiric nature. Actually, threatening to reveal his plans to out Brant would have been more of a threat.

Charles goes along because Rachel is the first truly “interesting” woman he’s met in decades. He’s met beautiful, but really interesting and fun to be with have been in much shorter supply. She’s refreshing as well as beautiful.

Rachel, of course, thinks he’s too gorgeous to be remotely in her league, but she needs his help.

And it turns out that he needs hers, more than he thought possible.

Escape Rating B+: This series is tremendously fun. It’s an absolute blast because the people involved are not just easy to empathize with, but also people you’d like to sit down and have a drink with, or be friends with, in real life. (At least the good ones, Brant is definitely a slime ball).

Charles is not your typical dark and brooding vampire. He was a charming people person before he was “turned” and being a vampire has not changed his basic nature. He’s in this initially because he truly wants to help his brother and desperately wants to save his almost-sister-in-law.

So naturally he gets caught up in wanting to help Rachel too.

There’s a bit of the “fake relationship” story in here as well, and it works because it’s turned on it’s head and upside down. Rachel and Charles fake a relationship and then fake him being a selfish ass so that Rachel’s sister can see the same thing happening to her. But the fake relationship turns real, and the fake breakup only proves it to both Charles and Rachel, even though they both think they don’t have a chance long-term.

As Charles reveals more and more vampire secrets, he discovers that they do belong together, and that he needs her to solve the mystery he started with. Rachel just needs to trust in her feelings, and that’s damn hard for her to do. When she finally figures it out, it’s an ending that makes you smile.

Don’t Blackmail the Vampire is the second book in the Sons of Kane series and follow up to Don’t bite the Bridesmaid….
This time around we meet Rachel Davis who is meeting her sister and her fiancé for a ski trip, Rachel knows that her sisters man isn’t right for her and has decided to do everything in her power to put an end to the relationship so that her sister doesn’t make the huge mistake of marrying him….. but her sister is stubborn. It just so happens that Charles Wright is on the trip too, giving her sisters’ fiancé a job opportunity and when Rachel sees Charles for what he really is, decides to blackmail him into helping her in her mission to save her sister. Little does Rachel know that Charles is actually there to find out if said fiancé is the one threatening his soon to be sister in law and there is no job offer available; just the opportunity to put his brothers mind at ease. When their plan takes a different turn however, things soon start to heat up for Rachel & Charles as they both start to thaw towards each other.
I really liked this book, I liked book one just the same and I liked the connection between both books. Charles was a character that stood out in book one, he seemed mischievous, a bit of a ladies man too, the sort that doesn’t want to settle or be tied down to anyone - so it made me happy to realise that he was about to get played by Rachel. When I realised who Rachel was and how she was also connected to book one; that made me even happier because it did actually connect Rachel & Charles without them knowing it…. So let the fun commence. As I said - I like both characters - it wasn’t hard not to be invested in their schemes and they both came from a good place with the best intentions and as always with books like this, it’s what happening because of their colluding that holds our interest in as well. I thought Rachel & Charles made a great pairing, alone they were pretty sad figures & quite misunderstood but together, they brought out the best in each other and made each other blossom, creating some very intense situations filled with emotions neither were used to dealing with, not to mention some great sexual tension & smexytimes – if they could both give each other a chance! I liked how each of their agendas tied together and who it tied too (forgive my vagueness, you will understand when you read it) it was risky situation and a no win scenario but it was a good progression to the series and of course a good catalyst for our MCs to fall in love. I’m curious to see where the next book will go because there is only one ‘Son of Kane’ left and the storyline didn’t seem to be heading in that direction but no matter where it goes, I will be reading it. As I said about the first…..this is a really fun, enjoyable read and hit the spot for a quick easy read. I like these type of books because they are fun, you don't have to think too hard, you get good characters, a good scenario, some humour, some sexytime and a nice HEA - so what's not to like?

REVIEW:
Allee does it again! The second book in the Sons of Kane series is just as good as the first! I easily stepped back into this fun filled romance series that is full of all the humor and fantastic character I could of asked for.

Don’t Blackmail the Vampire follows Rachel Davis who is on a trip with her sister and her horrible soon to be husband Brent. Rachel however is on a mission, to break up her sister and Brent, because she doesn’t want her sister to be with this cheating jerk. With her luck she meets Charles Wright, a so-called businessman trying to make a deal with Brent. But Charles has a secret which Rachel witness…he’s a vampire. Rachel is desperate for any help she can get and decides Charles is the key. Together they embark on some humorous encounters, along with romances and a case to solve.

Rachel is very different from the heroine Alice in the first book; she is a bit of a spaz who seems to get herself in a lot of trouble. Luckily blackmailing a vampire has its bonuses since Charles is always there to save the day. I liked how Rachel only wanted the best for her sister, but in a way I wished she would of done everything a little less harmful to her poor sisters heart. Good intension sometimes results in someone getting hurt. Charles and Rachel’s chemistry was perfect; there was so much humor and a lot of sparks. But my favorite was their first encounter and how cool Rachel was about his secret.

Charles is the brother of Noah, from the first book; he is on a mission to uncover who is threatening Noah’s girl Alice. They all believe its Brent, Alices’ ex and jerk of a fiancé to Rachel’s sister. Charles may have been on a specific mission but with Rachel always seeming to have something new to try and danger to put herself into, Charles gets majorly sidetracked. Luckily for him she also is a big help to his answers and opens up his heart. The romance between them is smoking hot but also has those cute moments.

Overall this was a great sequel, the setting is right after the cruise in the first book and Brent being a jerk in trying to get Alice back. I liked how closely tied the plot was and it made it easy for me to jump right back into this series. The secondary characters were only Brent and Rachel’s sister; I still don’t understand why she was with such a guy. I have a feeling we will be seeing much more of her in the future. In the end I’ll definitely be continuing this series and look forward to more funny and sizzling encounters that Allee comes up with next.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is a paranormal romance that has some spicy scene that are meant for a mature audience. Fans of Molly Harpers Naked Werewolf series and Lynsay Sands Argeneau series will love Don’t Blackmail the Vampire by Tiffany Allee.

Don't Blackmail the Vampire is book two in the Son's of Kane series however you don't have to read the first one (although I urge you not to miss out on the awesomeness of Don't Bite the Bridesmaid) to understand what's going on.

Rachel hates her sister's fiance Brent. He is an arrogant, cheating prig (who also happens to be the ex of the heroine from book one) and she wants nothing more than to break them up. Brent is trying to smooze the hero Charles for a high paying job that he thinks Charles may offer him. Little does he know, Charles has an another reason for going on the skiing trip and it has nothing to do with giving Brent a job. He's there trying to figure out who is sending his brother Noah's from book one) fiance Alice threatening messages. And Brent just happens to be Charles's prime suspect.

Rachel accidentally stumbles upon Charles feeding on another woman after dinner and decides to blackmail him into helping her break Kristen and Brent up. Charles agrees because not only does it go along with his plans but he's intrigued with Rachel. She's the first person that he's ever come across that can resist vampire mind control, well that and it doesn't hurt that he's attracted to her.

As the two put their plans in motion they are forced to spend time with each as a couple. Charles and Rachel dance around their attraction with each other. Neither are looking for a relationship but the more time they spend together the harder it is to resist. Rachel has severe trust issues with men and is afraid to let anyone get close. Charles doesn't want to form any attachments, he has avoided letting anyone close to him with the exception of his brothers.

I loved Charles! He was sweet, funny and sexy all rolled up into one delicious vampire. He was working so hard to prove to Noah that he could be relied on and so he tried to ignore his attraction to Rachel. But her pull was just too much for him. And when they finally gave in to each other.... WOW. It was amazing!

Rachel got to me. She was a quiet, stubborn, nerdy type of girl (which
I can relate to) but she has trust issues that you wouldn't believe. I could understand them on one hand but on the other hand I just wanted to knock some sense into her! I mean c'mon girl! Are you really going to let that smexy vampire slip through your fingers over some daddy issues??? And let me tell you I was worried there for awhile.

This was a really fast read that had me experiencing a range of emotions. I found myself giggling, nervous, sniffling, frustrated and sighing happily. I couldn't believe that I finished it in one setting! So if you are looking for a light, sweet and sexy PNR then Don't Blackmail the Vampire is the book for you!

DON’T BLACKMAIL THE VAMPIRE was exactly what I would’ve expected as a sequel to DON’T BITE THE BRIDESMAID: cute, sweet romance with a dash of intrigue thrown in. It was a perfect length story for me to enjoy on one of those rainy April afternoons when I was cooped up inside.

Rachel and Charles were an adorable couple. Rachel was a bit frustrating in her insecurities, but her willingness to do anything to keep her sister happy (even something I maybe didn’t approve of) made her a remarkably deep character for such a short story. I liked seeing her move past her issues to help make it work with Charles. Charles was great, obviously. A sexy vampire will always keep me involved, and he was definitely of the sexy variety. I enjoyed the way that Charles changed over the course of the story, from giving the reader the impression that he’s this cool playboy type, to really caring for Rachel and wanting to make her happy.

I did have a few small issues. I thought that the resolution to the mystery was a bit weak and anti-climactic. After the mystery was used as a plot point to pull Rachel and Charles together, it should have been stronger, in my opinion. And due to the length of the story, I’m guessing, there wasn’t much recap about book one. Though it wasn’t super necessary to know what happened in book one, it does help with some of the character motivations and I feel like without that background some actions may not make a ton of sense. That doesn’t mean it won’t be enjoyable if you haven’t read book one – after all, how frequently do most romance novels make complete sense? ;) Besides, with less recap, there was more time to dive straight into Charles and Rachel’s story.

Well plotted and paced, DON’T BLACKMAIL THE VAMPIRE is a fun, quick and entertaining read. While there are a few flaws, for the most part it’s easy to get into the story and ignore the issues – mostly I didn’t notice the few things I mentioned until after I had finished the book, so I don’t feel they detract from the reading experience. Definitely pick it up if you’re in the mood for a light-hearted vampire/human romance with some skiing and blackmail thrown in. I can’t wait for the next book in the Sons of Kane series- DON’T BLACKMAIL THE VAMPIRE only made me more curious about these vampire brothers.

I am a huge lover of anything PNR and have been a Tiffany Allee fan since I read her book Vampire Games. So of course I jumped at the chance to read this book even though I have not read the first book in this series, Don't Bite the Bridesmaid (yet). I did know enough about the first book that there were no issues with understanding the premise and characters in this book but I would suggest that someone who hasn't read the blurb (and any excerpts that were available) read and enjoy her first book before jumping into and enjoying this one. I think it would benefit the reader to have that knowledge of the characters in the first book that are referenced here and of course, the one who is being threatened.

Everyone should be lucky enough to have family (or friends) like Charles and Rachel. These two are willing to set aside their own lives for a while to help out their family. Charles has had to befriend Brent and spend time with him - the man he suspects of threatening his brother's fiancee! And Rachel has agreed to try and be nice to Brent - the man who cheated with her sister (on his previous fiancee) and on her since then! This guy (Brent) is in serious trouble if he thinks he can get away with anything untoward since these two have teamed up to make sure he leaves their loved ones alone.

I enjoyed the interaction and by-play between Charles and Rachel throughout the book. They are both strong-willed, opinionated people who don't like asking for help or admitting they may have been wrong about something. It is hilarious to watch as they work together to mess with Brent on this ill-fated skiing trip! Rachel discovers Charles is a vampire quite soon after she realizes he is the business contact Brent is meeting. Charles and Rachel actually meet before this while she is waiting for her sister and Brent to show up. The first contact between these two is hilarious and sets the tone for their relationship throughout most of the book, each giving as good as they get and enjoying every battle of wits.

This was a really funny and interesting read. I can't wait to read another one!

I received a Advanced e-copy of this book through the Entangled Review Program in exchange for an honest review.

This is the follow up to Don't Bite the Bridesmaid and continues the story of these vampire brothers and the women they will claim. This is a light paranormal romance series which is fun to read and full of likeable characters and enough steamy romance to warm the coldest heart!
Charles is determined to find out just who is threatening his brothers mate Alice. Someone is sending messages and Charles has promised Noah that he will hunt the aggressor down and put a stop to it all. He's convinced that Alice's cheating ex Brett is the one responsible and hatches a plan to gain his confidence . What he hadn't expected was to meet a certain Rachel who seems immune to his powers! In point of fact not only is the aloof Rachel able to resist him but she discovers that Charles is a vampire. His compulsion isn't working on her so in a bizarre twist he allows her to believe that she holds all the cards. Now Rachel is blackmailing a maddening vampire to do her bidding but is she completely sane? He's a dangerous predator and if Rachel isn't careful she might end up as lunch!
This is a delightful twist on the usual vampire books available. It's fairly quick to read and full of characters that feel more romantic suspense then paranormal romance but it seems to work. This is a light contemporary vampire world that the author has penned and it makes it quite easy to immerse yourself within the pages.
Is Charles a hero? Well he's not necessarily the most alpha guy in fiction but he tries to protect those he cares about and shows his more human side . As for the heroine Rachel well she's determined to do what she thinks is right and takes risks that could easily backfire. I'm sure those who want something without to much angst will enjoy this story. It's fine as a standalone but does obviously connect with the previous book . These are not bad ass vampires that will scare the pants off you ( charm them off maybe!) but sweet and wholesome often has it's place. There's another brother so I'm guessing a follow up book is planned.
Rating this is hard as it's not my usual type of story but three is mean so a four it is

If there is one thing I love, it’s a book with lots of snarky dialogue – and this book certainly had lots of it! From the first chapter right until the end of the book, I found myself chuckling out loud, never knowing what was going to come out of either Charles or Rachel’s mouth.
“Did you just call me…pretty?”
“You’re a male version of Helen of Troy. Now run along. Find another something pretty that appeals to you.”

Underneath all that snarky banter though, was a love story that had me rooting for Charles and Rachel to find their happily ever after.

I just loved watching Charles and Rachel fight their feelings for one another. Charles is trying to prove to his brothers that he can be trusted, and Rachel trying to get her sister to see that her fiancé is not the wonderful man she thinks she is, and when they decide to work together – well, when Rachel blackmails the vampire into helping – things get hot between the two. And when they decide to “pretend” to be in a relationship as part of their scheme to break up Rachel’s sister and her fiancé, you just knew that sparks were going to fly. Through it all, Rachel and Charles must both come to terms with issues from their past so they can move forward and learn to trust in love and in one another.
“Sometimes the things we need most – they aren’t what we’re looking for. They’re the things we happen to run into.”

This was a fun read and I like the twist on vampire lore that was in the book – I don’t think I’ve ever read a book with a skiing vampire before! I have not read the first book in this series but was able to jump right into this one without a problem since the backstory was explained enough to catch me up. This is my second book by this author and I’ll definitely be looking to read more from her!

I received a copy of the book from the publisher for an honest review.

A perfect beach read with bite!

Are you in need of a vacation? Well look no further than the Sons of Kane series. While the first book involved a cruise and a plot that just didn't win me over, DON'T BLACKMAIL THE VAMPIRE takes readers on a skiing trip and managed to pull me in much more.

The blurb does a very good job of giving you the plot. Charles is the brother of Noah from DON'T BITE THE BRIDESMAID and with someone sending threatening messages to Alice he's trying to find out who's sending them. Everyone thinks it's Brent, Alice's ex, who happens to now be involved with her former friend. That former friend is Rachel's sister and Rachel really doesn't like or trust Brent. So she finds a way to blackmail Charles into helping her break the pair up and since it will help Charles figure out if Brent is the stalker threatening Alice it's a win-win scenario.

Of course, this means lots of shenanigans to convince Rachel's sister Brent is a cad and she and Charles wind up giving into their attraction. The build-up is nice and the tension is well spread making it quite satisfying when they finally cave to their chemistry. I think most readers will really enjoy the romance but I actually found the mystery of whom was behind the threats to be the most entertaining part. I was very engrossed in it and while I felt a little swindled on the outcome it will please DBTB fans who need to know Alice is safe.

I'd dare say that anyone who likes contemporary romances that has a hard time finding paranormals they like will really enjoy DBTV. The overall story could easily have the vampire element removed and still be an enjoyable story. I did really dislike Rachel's sister, to the point I fantasized about punching her through my ereader screen, but other than that it was the perfect sort of light paranormal romance read that's perfect for a beach read.

I was really pleasantly surprised by Don't Bite the Bridesmaid, the first book in this series. It's lighthearted and sweet and most of all funny. Don't Blackmail the Vampire isn't as humorous (at least I didn't think so) and not quite as light. These characters have issues and a lot of angst. But it's still a lot of fun. In fact, it's kind of like the Vampire Winter Olympics with its skiing, ice skating and dog sledding. Not things you expect in a typical vampire novel.

We met fiancées Brent and Kristen, Alice's ex-fiancé and ex-best friend, in the last book.This story features Kristen's sister Rachel, who is determined break up her sister's engagement, and Charles, Alice's new fiancé's brother, who is investigating Brent. Rachel convinces Charles to help her with her scheme and it gets complicated quickly. They pretend to sleep together, then pretend he doesn't like her, but he really does, and she doesn't want to like him, but she really does. Like I said, it's complicated. Charles has his own mission to accomplish but keeps getting distracted by Rachel and her schemes.

Tiffany Allee does a really good job with this short novel format. A few that I've read have really needed to be longer and I could tell you exactly which scenes I would add. I haven't had that issue with either of the books I've read from Allee, although I do wish she would have done more with Brent's friend Cole in this one. He's just kind of there, and doesn't really contribute much.

Although I didn't like it quite as much as the first book in the series, this was a fun way to spend my rainy morning.

I received a copy of this book in place of an honest review.

I read the first book in this series which was Noah and Alice's story and I really loved it. When I saw that the author had wrote the second book to this series that I had to read it. Especially when I read the blurb.

Rachel Davis goes on this skiing vacation with her sister. She really wants Kristen to break it off with Brent and find someone who truly loves her. She can't understand her sister staying with a man who treats her the way he does and he even cheats on her. Now she has to come up with a great plan to make it work this time. Good thing she saw something one night and used it to help her.

Charles Wright is on a mission for his brother and the woman that he loves. He knows that Noah doesn't have much faith in him and he needs to show him that he can do something right. He goes skiing with Brent because he was once engaged to Alice and is now going out with her best friend. He just never counted on meeting Rachel. Just his luck that she catches him sucking another woman's blood.

This is one book that I didn't want to put down. I read it in a little over an hour. Now I wonder what the next book will be about. This author always makes things very interesting. Vampires is also my favorite books to read. The author puts a whole new spin on her vampires. That is what I love about her vampire books.

Lucky me, I got the opportunity to read Don't Blackmail the Vampire by Tiffany Allee. This is the second book in her Sons of Kane series and it is just as good as the first. This is the second book I have read by Ms. Allee and it certainly won't be the last.

This is the story about computer geek Rachel Davis and Charles Wright, a vampire with a conscious and a generous understanding of the human spirit. They come together accidentally, while on a ski trip and strike a deal. Rachel protects Charles's true identity, while Charles does his best to help prove that Rachel's sister's fiance, Brent, is a no good cheater. This arrangement works out well for Charles because it gives him the opportunity to also prove that Brent is harassing his soon to be sister-in-law, which is why he is on the ski trip in the first place.

This is a cute, fast-paced love story. Rachel and Charles are good together and their witty banter is very entertaining. Ms. Allee writes with an enthusiasm that I enjoy immensely and look forward to reading time after time. Overall, a solid paranormal read with characters that go through some interesting escapades.

This book follows on from the first, but focuses on Noah's brother Charles and Kristin's younger sister Rachel.

Rachel thinks her sisters fiancee is a slime and wants to break them up. That is the only reason she has agreed to skiing with them. However finding out what Charles is doesn't scare her, in fact she blackmails him with the information, and uses his help to break the 'happy' couple up.

What she doesn't expect however is to find that the cold playboy is actually a warm-hearted man who is actually very tender and loyal to his family.

Its light, its fluffy and a bit funny at times and a good space filler between meatier books, but if you want a good light-hearted read then this is a book for you.

I read the first book in the Sons of Kane series, Don't Bite The Bridesmaid. This book follows Alice's ex best friend and ex boyfriend from the first book, Kristen and Brent while on a business ski trip with Kristen's sister, Rachel and a business associate of Brent, Charles Wright. Charles is on the trip under false pretenses. He's actually a vampire and Noah's (the vampire from book one) brother. Alice is getting threats and Noah believes it's her ex Brent sending them so he enlists his brother to find the truth. Rachel has her own agenda for the trip. Make her sister Kristen realize she deserves better than Brent. Rachel hopes to make it happen even if she has to blackmail Charles to get his help. They bond over their goal to bring Brent down. Great attraction between Rachel and Charles, maybe not as much humor that was in the first book but I enjoyed it just as much.

Don't Blackmail the Vampire is a well written fast paced read. There is mystery and mayhem and romance. Though not as laugh out loud funny as Don't Bite the Bridesmaid this may indeed be a better story. This book can be read stand-alone but you will get more out of it if you’ve read Don't Bite the Bridesmaid first. At first I didn’t think Rachel and Charles were a good fit together but they convinced me by the end.

This was my first Tiffany Allee read. I really enjoyed it too. I have to go back and read Noah and Alices's story now. Charles and Rachel were fun and perfect for each other.

This is the second book in the Sons of Kane series and it was just as awesome as the first. In the first book, we met Noah (hunky vampire) and Alice, the sweet woman he eventually falls in love with. In this second book, Alice is being threatened and Noah sends his brother, Charles, to investigate the #1 suspect whom they believe is the one threatening Alice......her ex-fiancé, Brent. Charles is desperate to prove to his brother that he is trustworthy and can get to the bottom of this mystery and figure out who the sneaky culprit behind the threats is.

Charles follows Brent to Colorado on the pretense that he is interested in hiring Brent for his very lucrative yacht business. While there, he meets the mysterious Rachel and he tries out a few of his smarmy pick-up lines on her. She turns him down flat and, not being used to being rejected by women, Charles is immediately intrigued by her. Rachel later catches Charles feeding on a human and decides this would be a good time to blackmail him. Yeah, that's right, she's going to attempt to blackmail a vampire that she just caught in a compromising position. Charles found that funny too, but decides to play along since it would actually make things easier for him. Plus, it will put him in close daily contact with the beautiful Rachel.

Rachel and Charles have a common enemy in Brent. He is engaged to Rachel's sister, Kristen, (and Rachel knows he is cheating on Kristen, she just can't physically prove it yet) and he is Charles's prime suspect in the threats to his soon-to-be sister-in-law, Alice. By Rachel and Charles teaming up, they can improve their chances of nailing this creep to the wall and improving everybody's lives. But, as in real life, things don't always work out the way we think they will and, not only does Brent seem impervious to the various traps that Rachel and Charles set for him, but Rachel and Charles start to fight a growing attraction to each other while trying to get Brent to slip up somehow.

This was a great romance story, but it goes much deeper than that. Rachel has some serious problems trusting men, and Charles has problems getting people to trust him. Seems like a match made in heaven, doesn't it?!? And don't forget the mystery - who is threatening Alice and why? Alice is sweeter than pecan pie and doesn't have an enemy in the world, with the exception of *maybe* Brent, but he doesn't exhibit any of the typical creepy stalker qualities, making it difficult for Charles to pin this crime on him. This was a multi-layered story that puts a lot of emphasis on family loyalty. I was really impressed by the depth involved in this plot.

There are three brothers involved in this series....Noah (from book one), Charles (from book two) and Alex (dare I hope that he will be our protagonist in book three?!). Also, I see a potential future for Kristen and Cole in the next book.... :-)

This was a really fun book to read. It is well written and moves along at a nice pace, with lots of humor and plenty of steamy sex. Charles is such a great vampire, trying to do the right thing whenever he can and feeling guilty whenever he has to take a shortcut with his morality. I fell in love with him immediately....anybody would. :-)

This is a hreat series and I am excited about future books!

3.75 stars:

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 28, 2014

~~~~~~~
REVIEW: DON’T BLACKMAIL THE VAMPIRE is the second instalment in Tiffany Allee’s contemporary adult Sons of Kane paranormal romance series. This is Rachel Davis and vampire Charles Wright’s story. Although it is the second in the series, Don’t Blackmail The Vampire can be read as a standalone without too much difficulty.
Told from third person POV, the storyline follows Rachel and Charles as they set up Rachel’s future brother in law who is also the number one suspect in a series of threats against Charles future sister in law Alice. The fact that Charles is a vampire adds a heightened sense of mistrust as far as Rachel is concerned because her ultimate goal is to prove to her sister Kristen that Brent (her fiancé) cannot be trusted. As Charles and Rachel begin to pull Brent into their web, the threats against Charles’s SIL are mounting. Rachel’s heart is set on proving to her sister that Brent is no good and sets out to break up their relationship blackmailing Charles in the process.
The relationship between Rachel and Charles is slow to develop as a good portion of the storyline finds our couple engaged in a series of mishaps in order to find out the truth about Brent. Rachel and Kristen have a difficult time when it comes to trust and Rachel is determined to prove that no man can be trusted with their hearts or their love-in this, there is the push and pull of anxiety where Rachel’s heart is concerned. Charles wants a relationship with Rachel but Rachel is afraid of getting hurt and her only concern is proving Brent is slime. Her need and all encompassing desire to end her sister’s relationship blinds Rachel to what would become of the aftermath with the results.
The world building continues from book one-Don’t Bite The Bridesmaid-with the inclusion of Alice and Noah (Charles’s brother) who give a familiarity to the storyline but their story is not necessary to understand what is happening in the current plot as Tiffany reveals the information where needed.
DON’T BLACKMAIL THE VAMPIRE is a quick paced, humorous look at the paranormal. The characters are likeable and colorful; the sex scenes are hot and seductive; the conversations reveal the backstory and history that brought everyone to the present.
Tiffany Allee writes a captivating storyline that will please the romance as well as the paranormal lover-in all of us.
Who’s a Commitment Phobe? Tiffany Allee’s DON’T BLACKMAIL THE VAMPIRE Tour & Giveaway
This is a cute novella where interpersonal communication is NOT the biggest problem for the love interests. Well, there’s a bit of it, but it is other things that threaten to keep Rachel and Charles apart. Instead it’s about how two sisters have reacted to a childhood event. Their personalities have been affected differently but that trauma has affected how they live and love. Rachel is the stand offish one who is intent not to get involved or feel. Kristen is the somewhat impulsive one. It has some of the Sense and Sensibility thing going for it. It has made the sisters close as adults. Some of us don’t have much in the way of family, but the ideal is of course a close and happy group. I doubt many have the ideal. Some, like Kristen and Rachel achieve a modicum but the trauma still affects them. One is clingy and the other is commitment phobic. HOW ABOUT YOU: Do you have commitment issues, or how did/do you react to potential partners?
Have you ever noticed that Rachel and Charles contain all the same letters except for that “s”?
The book is the second in a series and while this story line can nearly stand on its own, the back story and world building flow over from the first book DON’T BITE THE BRIDESMAID. You would probably enjoy this without book one but it would make it a richer experience to read them in order.
Tiffany writes nice and natural feeling, or maybe comfortable feeling, dialogue that rings true. Rachel is snarky, but not too snarky. When she says something she doesn’t back pedal or feel guilty which is hard to not do. Half the time if I say something a bit assertive or harsh I end up taking it back and blaming myself.
The story telling itself — the writers voice also feels natural; as if you and a friend are sharing funny stories over lunch.
Throughout the book the characters are surprised by a person or a turn of events, or their emotional response to something. When they are surprised we are usually surprised as well. If not it’s because the reader usually sees what’s in a character’s heart before they do.
The mystery is a little anticlimactic. which bugged me a smidgen. The concept of “blackmailing a vampire” is pretty funny, after all who would believe you and with their extra speed and strength they could hurt you.
But other than that I think this book or both of them are a great deal and a fabulous vacation read or beach read!
